Thanks for the interesting video. It's refreshing to see someone talk about products he actually used in the field, because that's where the real flaws come out. I was considering buying the MI-6 when it came out, but I thought that the button was on the "wrong" side for right-handed people. I bought a Fisher PI instead and used it only once, so far... (this was probably three years ago) I also bought the "carrot" and used it a few times, but I "couldn't" (or let's say refused to) adapt to the button (on/off/menu) routine. I switch off my pinpointer sometimes several times during a dig. Having to hold the button (even for less than a second) in order to turn in off, instead of just pressing it, was counter-intuitive, took too long and therefore completely disrupted my flow. The other thing was the "option" function (you also mentioned) that kicked in too many times, when I just wanted to turn it off. One day I had enough and as a result... tested if it breaks when I hit a tree. It did not, the housing was very strong, but the electronics inside fell into pieces. After that I bought the Garrett PP II version and stuffed its electronics into the orange shell, once the black housing wore out. Now I'm happy with the performance. I can operate it quickly without delay. It isn't falsing, which is very important for me. It's not as fast and sensitive as the very first Garrett pinpointer, but still a good compromise. One more thing - a worn out tip is not necessarily a bad thing. If you open a Garrett pinpointer, you will notice that there is a gap between the tip and the coil inside. This space costs depth and sensitivity (especially to targets like foil, something that slows me down the most). Once my tip wore out (and a hole appeared), I used a glue gun to fill the space inside. After a while "it shaped" into its current form, which increased sensitivity. I can now find tiny bits of foil and other targets, the pointer wouldn't even react to otherwise. If I was an engineer at Garrett, I would take the electronics of the very first pinpointer, replace the switch with the PP II version, isolate the wires inside to stop the falsing, place everything into the orange housing (which has the most durable plastic), shorten the tip and fill it with even more durable plastic. This would be the perfect pinpointer :). Have a nice day.

Ever tried the Fpulse or Tek point? I’ve used them for a few years. Excellent pointer. I’ve also had the carrot and I have the pulsedive. Hate the pulsedive for a lot of reasons. It’s a bitch to find the target. Fpulse is much much better. In every single way from size to performance

yea the pulse dive i could see people missing gold targets like small earings i had few gold signals i could not find till i grabed handfuls of dirt and waved it by the detector this was before i got my mi6 when i first got my orx last year pulse dive dont like foil range but it can be a good thing to like at the beach or in area where u are just getting so much foil and and u go to pin point and it wont get anything its most likely foil oh also the mi6 it does have a break of detection so u can use tip or the side its like the mi4 but it pairs to headphones would be good test to compare them

To be honest. I have been struggling a bit with pinpointers and wish it worked on the tip only. The side scan should be able to be turned off. I’m not a fan of the Garrett carrot 🥕. The trx looks like it might be the ticket. You think Garrett is going to make more?

Yep the TRX is the way to go but they are long sold out everywhere and I have a feeling Whites wont be making them any time soon. Mi-4 would be my next choice

I really wanted a TRX but they are no longer made after Whites closed. I spoke with Garrett since they took over the rights and asked if they had plans to rebrand or make the TRX. Their response was: "Garrett is not currently manufacturing any White’s models, but I do not know what the future may hold. The official statement I’ve been given says that Garrett has confidence in our products and will not be keeping White’s full product line in production, but that decisions have not yet been made regarding continued production of any specific White’s models."

I think that if Garrett did continue with the TRX they'd be denouncing the Carrot which is currently their flag-ship pointer.

Since Garrett owns Whites now why would they care if all they sell is TRX? It's still their product. I have no real issue with my carrot but I would buy 2 TRX's the minute they produce one.

I’m going to watch eBay and try and score a trx. Sounds like they are going to be rare and perform how I want.

I use the MI4 and the textured surface definitely attracts the mud but it also provides an excellent grip in my wet, muddy gloves so I don't mind the mud so much. I've had no problems pinpointing with the MI4 and have no complaints with it's performance. I've had two Garrett Propointers malfunction on me in the past so I do not use them anymore.

I have to scrub the button with my nylon brush every 30 minutes on the MI4. That button gets packed with my clay and it just will not push.

Get the Quest X pointer max model Just for that ( no side detection) sort of like the TRX Also nice little LED screen no batteries and has discrimination IF you feel like using it For raw depth power Fisher F PULSE like you I detect a lot and thats what im using most of the time (IM6 for the deus2 )

The Pulse-dive doubles as a plastic- cosh truncheon.... Needs Nokta to bring out a 'tip sensitive only' ( lean but durable and not over-long ), pointer to fill the void left by the TRX. It should have no 'dead-spot on the length then signal', just all the power going to it's tip, so no patent infringements. That'd ruffle some feathers. imagine the range of signal strength!...what a pointer!... we could use two belt holsters; one for the truncheon, the other for the 'tazer-tip' in the hood....wink.

TRX's are very difficult to find now. I did purchase a new one last week for $120. I will be sending my broken ones into the repair shop very soon. TRX's are not durable but they just pinpoint so good.

Pulsedive is trash. Too hard to turn off and on. Bet mine doesn't last a year. And all I got with the freebie bundle was the scuba end piece and I can hardly hear it. Also the size of a little league bat.

Got the same bundle and the same end cap...I spent the money to get the land use only one and it is a great pinpointer. Totally agree that the buttons are really hard to push after awhile and I usually switch to my carrot
