Easy. Locally the first person to collect the power pellet gets to basically be invincible with a powerful active hit hitbox. And online it can be how it was in 3DS.

There's more than one pac man stage?

Correction on Spirit Train: Alfonzo takes charge of the engine if ANY Link is present in the fight - that includes Link or Young Link (in Ultimate). Actually, the Toon Link in Wind Waker (the one who's represented in the roster) and the Toon Link in Spirit Tracks are actually from two different generations.

Magicant was the best stage I’ve ever seen. One of the best and was so happy to see the glow up in Ultimate

How they were able to put this game on the 3DS and have it running every bit as well as it did on the Wii U still blows my mind. Even after Ultimate, I still go back and play this game for the novelty alone.

@@teen17 yeah but i did play on 3ds and it was plagued with lag when trying to play local multplayer, hell, even without multiplayer certain things could cause the game to lag too.

It had some fun modes that aren’t in ultimate and I like how the characters look

The Zapdos cameo in Lumiose City is also a reference to another aspect of Pokémon XY The Legendary Kanto Birds are roaming Pokémon in the post-game so that explains its presence here. Interestingly, you can only get Zapdos if you picked Fennekin as the starter

One thing to note about Arena Ferox is that in Smash 3DS the stage is based on how the arena looks in Awakening's battles, while in Ultimate it takes on its appearance from Awakening's cutscenes

I wished they brought Pac-Maze back, that was a really cool stage…

Pac-maze is also a reference to Pac-Man Championship Edition, you can see the blue walls occasionally having neon effects which is something you see in that game.

In PictoChat 2 there's also the hopping Wario noses which mainly appeared in the title screen for WarioWare Touched.

I gotta say, when I made the switch from 3DS to WiiU, I really don't understand how I played on the 3DS. I was in highschool, played over 15,000 online matches, played it at lunch, after school clubs, I brought that thing to small tournaments at locals, I loved that 3DS to death. But man, how did I ever think I was gonna play slightly competitive without an actual controller? I will never know.

Every stage introduced is so charming and I'm so glad Sakurai and the rest of the development team do what they do

For Unova, i would say that Milotic makes sense because the evolution method for Feebas changed in gen 5. But not sure about Shaymin

On prism tower I don't think the poster with diantha is supposed to advertise the league but a in game universe movie, she's supposed to be an actress in kalos ^^

For Tomodachi Life, that’s not just the amusement park in the background. That’s the entire island the 3DS game takes place on. (Don’t know if the previous games had that or not)

Figure 8 CIrcuit was referencing the same thing, because shy guys were playable only in download play in Mario Kart DS, which is what Figure 8 CIrcuit comes from. Mario Kart 7 also used shy guys for its generic racer for download play, it's just shy guy was also on the default roster that time instead of being an exclusive character. Mario Circuit in Smash Wii U is where the reference is lost tho, since it also has nothing but shy guys even though Mario Kart 8 didn't have download play. Ig there it's just an online lobby full of shy guy enthusiasts lol

Pour a cold one out for Pac-Maze. If it weren’t for that ghost mechanic, it would’ve been used in SSBU instead of Pac-Land

Oh, I always thought the name of the stage was "Reset Bomb FORTRESS" not "Forest". I never played Kid Icarus Uprising, but it looks and sounds really cool. Might have to pick that one up soon.

34:27 that's exactly what I was thinking while watching this. Imagine if you never owned a 3ds, you'd probably just think this was a stage based off some cheap 3ds shovelware or something, not a stage with such a obscure history in comparison to the others

I'd argue that the Wily Castle WiiU platforms, or at least the rails, are more likely based on the platforms from Crash Man's stage in Mega Man 2. The fact that the rails bend and even cross themselves is more MM2.

3D land and golden plains and 3DS Rainbow road and paper Mario stage is one my favorite stage ever I use to play Mario 3D land on 2DS also I use to play Mario kart 7 also New super Mario bros 2 too I never play Paper Mario sticker star before

The thing you mentioned about the Pac Maze with the blue ghost is something I never realized until now, but know it makes sense why this stage didn't return to Ultimate despite being the superior design wise of both Pac Man stages, the unique flavor it had could only be truly done in the 3DS.

It is crazy how most of the memorable and good stages from smash 4 are 3ds exclusives We have the 2 pokemon stages, the nintendogs, pac maze, rainbow road, the fire emblem arena, gerundo valley, 3d land, spirit train, the earthbound one too On wii u other hand, we have some of the worst, the star fox one which is one of the easiests to die by accident, the metroid one with giant riddley, the donkey kong one with the 2 layers, two plane arenas that feel the same, the kirby cave and that other from kid icarus which are enormous. It was like they were so dedicated into doing unique feature stages, but them they forgot to make it fun

still, something that really bothered me in 3ds was the excessive number of pixel art retro stages. We have duck hunt, kirby gb, fzero, pac man(this one is cool tho), ballon flight, even the earthbound one is half 2d

Pac-Maze was such a cool level and the best representation of Pac-Man in general. I wish they would've picked this stage for Ultimate instead of Pacland. But that's not my favorite stage of the whole game, Magicant was and I'm glad that made it to Ultimate. Turning off the stage hazards made it better since we didn't have to deal with the bothersome Flyingmen anymore.

I know this doesn't relate to this game specifically but for some reason I find peach's brawl render better than all the other smash games that has her. She looks really good in melee but she looks really life like, and sort of lifeless in a way in ultimate's render, same for Wii u and 3ds. However, peach's brawl render makes her look like she's an experienced princess, like I can feel her presence, her pose just emits power. I know this may be weird but it always stuck out to me.
