Screenwest is thrilled to share the first look clip from psychological thriller The Surfer starring Nicolas Cage, ahead of its world premiere at Cannes Film Festival.
Academy Award® winner Cage plays a man who returns to his childhood beach to buy back his family home and has to battle local surfers to stake his claim.
Directed by Lorcan Finnegan (Vivarium) and written by Thomas Martin, The Surfer is an intensely unnerving feature film shot in a single location in Yallingup in Western Australia, known for its iconic beaches.
The Surfer is an Australian/Irish Co-Production and produced by Tea Shop Productions, Arenamedia, Lovely Productions and Gramercy Park Media with support from Screenwest through the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive, Australia’s most competitive incentive, designed to attract high profile, market driven screen productions to the State.
The Surfer is a Stan Original Film, in partnership with CinemaPlus and Madman Entertainment who will be releasing the film theatrically in Australia and New Zealand. North.Five.Six (previously Mossbank) is handling international sales.
