OMG It is a pleasant surprise to see Tong-Ah and Pyunjeon review here! You see, Tong-Ah and Pyunjeon had been secret weapons for a few hundred years in my country (Korea). Pyunjeons, the short arrows launched via Tong-Ah have lots of advantages: 1. Pyunjeons are much faster than conventional arrows. In the recent tests performed using traditional bows, Pyungjeons marked 77~90m/s, while the conventional arrows did 60m/sec or less. 2. Pyunjeons fly much longer than conventional ones; they reach 500m or even more with traditional bows. 3. Pyeonjeons are more penetrative than conventional arrows. Whilst the weight of a Pyunjeon is 4/5 of a conventional arrow; its speed is 30% faster than a conventional one. This results in greater dynamic energy and penetration. A traditional record says that a Pyunjeon could kill 2 soldiers within 48m. 4. Since Pyunjeons are shorter (roughly a half) and lighter than conventional arrows, archers could carry more number of shots. 5. Enemies could not reuse Pyunjeons as they did not have Tong-Ahs. 6. As Pyunjeons are faster and smaller, it is very difficult for the enemies to follow their trajectory and react. Hope you enjoy my comments. Thanks!

the idea of a bow magazine that you can just use with any bow with zero installation sounds amazing. great idea! Something I've always thought about Joerg is that he is three professions in one, which is amazing. Usually you'd have and expert in engineering, fabrication, and assembler/mechanic . The engineer designs, the fabricator makes the parts, the assembler/mechanic puts them together and maintains them. Joerg does all three.

Traditional Tong-Ah (*Dutsal* in Korean) has a loop which hooks on your middle finger, therefore stays with your drawing hand. With practice, reloading with Pyunjun (*Aegitsal* in Korean) should be fairly quick.

This looks like a medieval Dai Viet crossbow. the fear of Chinese armor. Dai Viet's crossbow has a bow length of 1m2 and an arrow length of 30~45cm. The Ming people described the Dai Viet crossbow as having enormous damage in 300 steps. There were cases where arrows pierced two fighters equipped with full body armor at the same time

Hey there! It's great to see Jörg back in action, making videos like in the good old times. 😄 As for the Super Tong-Ah (Crab Bow on Steroids), it's a really interesting concept. The idea of having a versatile reloading device that can work with different bows is quite innovative. It's a nice blend of traditional and modern archery. I'd love to see more developments on this, maybe with a sleeker and more lightweight design. What do you think? Keep up the awesome work, and looking forward to more exciting videos from Jörg's channel! 👍

Just had a dream where a defended position I was in had "turrets". In the turret there was a two man crew, one bringing preloaded magazines to the guy using the weapon. Which was a guy laying comfortably in an angled "bed". He has one of your repeating crossbows, but he draws it with his FEET. ! Everything else about the bow worked the same, but the bow was three times as powerful. It was mounted on a pivot, and once he had cocked it, he dropped his feet onto a couple of foot braces, which allowed him to aim the bow. Can't be shot off the tower himself because except for the firing slit, it is fully enclosed, so you can have the "mouth" of the turret project over the parapet.

3:18 it says "rapid(fire) Japanese bow" (shunsokuwakyuu). Pyeonjeon was a shorter projectile that flied faster. Once landed on enemy formations they weren't "compatible" with their bows because their archers wouldn't have had the tong-ah and the necessary training to use them, let alone a sofisticated contraption you've used to shoot one.

Tong-Ah has way more penetration power than long arrow. This means Pyunjun(short arrow) shot with Tong-Ah, a sort of long gun barrel, is more fatal in a battle. Korea has a long history of winning wars against her neighboring giant invaders and many believes Korea has had more ammunition power than her invaders. Incredibly strong power of Korean bows combined with Tong-Ah, a gunbarrel for arrows, brought advantages over less powerful bows with plain arrows shot without barrel. Check the power of Tong-Ah from many experiments on KZread. One of them is kzread.info/dash/bejne/daujxo-mYbzSfLQ.html&pp=gAQBiAQB

Joerg, have you heard that you can increase your penetration if you use do a paper test and use an arrow tuning chart? Hunters have even hunted Elephants with a bow and arrow because they maximized its penetration. They also use Ashby's 12 principles of Terminal Arrow Performance. He did archery testing for over two decades with many different bows and arrows to find the best penetration. He sells an arrowhead that takes all that into consideration, but I would personally just buy cheap arrowheads that take advantage of the same physics principles that he discovered.

@JoergSprave Can you weaponize some 3d printed rifles? I'm thinking about something like a sniper rifle powered by compressed air with a magazine like a revolver. Your channel pushed me to become an engineer years ago. Does German law allow bullets loaded onto short barrels connected to a rotating magazine, where the bullet is loaded onto the barrel of the magazine but exits from another larger barrel? It would be cool. Reloading could look like in a normal sniper rifle, moving the bolt back with the magazine, rotating the magazine and inserting the bullet into the larger barrel. According to my interpretation, bullets are placed on the barrel, so such a gun is a toy, the whole thing has a second barrel system, but the shot takes place in the first one.

I think a problem with this unmounted SIL for many archers using asiatic bows would be the draw length. Because of the grip you lose like 3 to 4 inches in contrast to a thumb draw, so most people might end up with a 28" draw instead of a 31" one. Since many bows in this style of archery are designed to be drawn out that far - and even report their poundage for "full" draw instead of the western 28" - using this device would severely reduce the power you get out of the bow. However, for longbows or even horse-bows with 28" draw design, this looks like much fun! Cool idea, as always.

Would be interesting to see how you can walk around with it without taking the string out. Because you can tilt the Legolas system (because it is not bolted to the bow). So you can potentially walk around with it being just the size of the bow with the Legolas parallel to the bow, then as soon as you want to shoot it you grab the Legolas perpendicular to the bow and shoot.
