The Silver Shroud is almost literally The Shadow. Down to the scarf and radio play. The intro of the radio play is almost the same as the original The Shadow one. "When evil walks the streets of Boston, one man lurks in the shadows. Shielding the innocent. Judging the guilty. That guardian is... the Silver Shroud!" Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!"

The Fallout 4 radio mod "Old World Radio 2" has a station called Repconn Radio hosted by Captain Cosmos and Jangles (he had become a ghoul and Jangles was mutated by radioactive water to become intelligent and capable of talking.) Their conversations with each other are pretty funny. The station itself plays some old sci-fi radio plays and has clips of old Captain Cosmos shows. (Made up by the mod authors of course, but it's an excellent mod all around.)

Gotta say, IMHO, the biggest influence on the Shroud is the Shadow. The Shadow has the trenchcoat, fedora, and red scarf covering his face, sticks to the shadows, uses a tommy gun, has been in radio plays, comics, movies, video games, and films, and a bunch of other similar tells. I'd also say that The Spirit could also have influenced the Shroud as well.

The Silver Shroud is more likely to be inspired by the 1930's comic and radio play hero "The Shadow" who was a detective-esque Superhero who wore a black trenchcoat and fedora with a red scarf, often pulled up over his face. Although he weilded a pair of 1911s his methods and tactics are very reminicent of The Shroud. He was also an inspiration for batman.

I think that in addition to being an obvious copy of Conan the Barbarian, he also takes inspiration from He Man, as the two are both muscular warriors who use a large weapon. Grognak’s villain being a necromancer named ‘Greylock’ seems like a reference to He-Man’s Skeletor and he-man’s castle Greyskull. As well as the fact that as you said there is a He man comic about Terror-dactyls. In addition while Conan the barbarian is not blonde, He man is, so it seems like Grognak is a combination of Conan and He Man

The Silver Shrowd is based of The Shadow, who wears a black trench coat, red scarf, black cowboy hat, and a black and red cape. He weilds a pair of 1911s, and a tommy gun. He also has magical powers and has death related catch phrases. He also had agents who were regularl people that would inform the shadow, supply him with resources, and would dress as him to convince his enemies that he isn't his secret identity, LeMont Cranston. He also had a chick interested in him, and predates both Batman and Dick Tracy. His writer was familiar with Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard. Conan's writer, and the two were part of a team.

I love that later Fallout games have introduced superheroes to the world with memorabilia and other dedicated fans. Even allowing players to embrace some of the more popular heroes like Shroud or Mistress! I really hope they go further with this in the next installment, maybe a more fleshed out questline where the player gets to actually meet or discover a hero that’s been frozen or displaced and fight alongside their cause. Or uncover what happened to their teammates like the Unstoppables. Basically a short story that actually proves that superheroes did exist to an extent in the past before the bombs dropped. Maybe fighting a battle of the Sino American War in secret. Or stopping a nuke that was secretly launched and destroyed before the Great War.

As for this weird whole bunch of alien ones, I think that's reference. We're all the heroes and one of the loose comic books back in the day. Go to find the Hawk after sending them away. In this space and they have wacky little adventures where they run into other alien life forms and stuff.Which kind of helps but also hinders them because then they have to fight some of them but some of them actually help fight the others and it kind of just gets a little convoluted after that

Fun fact us Shadow fans know, the Shadow was created by Orson Welles. Welles had a crime story show and he did a character to narrate it he called The Shadow. It was pretty much the Crypt Keeper but for hard boiled detective stories not horror and decades before EC. The Shadow character would read from "The Shadow's magazine," which was pretty much whatever true crime pulp Orson would pick up on his way into work. Pretty soon everyone was pestering the newstand guys for The Shadow's Magazine so Welles sold the character to Street & Smith and the Shadow's adventures were born. Then Gibson convinced them to let him write the novels where king of hack writers our boy Wally would use revolver and automatic both as synonyms for a pistol. Who doesn't know firearms...Walter Gibson. Muah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

I do believe that the Silver Shroud also has Inspiration from the Question who like Batman is both a Detective and a DC character Evidence: Silver Shroud has face in a way that we actually don't see his full Face shown (Except for extra arts seen online) The Question has been shown to actually NOT have a face

I think Captain Cosmos is based on space ghost and his monkey. He sounds like a mix of the 60s show and coast to coast. Also, the Mistress of Mystory might be based on moon knight.

Ok, I hope this will get seen because I literally wrote down this by hand so I wouldn't forget. First, Silver Shroud may also, or actually, be a reference to The Shadow. It was a 90's movie featuring Alec Baldwin. Second, Captain Cosmos may also be pulling inspiration from Space Ghost. La Fantoma could also be pulling from The Phantom which was another 90's movie which stars Billy Zane. Sounds like the one right before that is taking at least some inspiration from Dr. Who. Last, Mantaman is probably also slightly influenced by Submariner. I'm surprised you didn't mention the connection between Robert Howard, the creator of Conan, and H.P. Lovecraft. Fallout has been influenced heavily by Lovecraft so it's not surprising to get Conan in the mix and probably explains why they travel to such a place since in the Conan comics he faces off against "Lovecraftian" monsters.

One of my favourite playthroughs of Fallout 4 I've ever done was my "Silver Shroud" playthrough using the FudgeMuppet build. I named the character "Robert West" after two Batman actors from the 40s and 60s, Robert Lowery and Adam West.

I know who knows some inspiration about the Civil shroud the shadow knows the shadow being a pope hero from the golden age of superheroes actually I think the shadow is more of an inspiration than Batman and the current construct cuz in itself Batman was inspired by parts of the Shadow if I'm remembering that correctly

The Fo3 Grognak cover is based off the Barbarian class picture from Oblivion. The board game reminds me of Hero Quest.

The axe both in game and in the cover is clearly heavily based on Oblivion's Iron Battleaxe too.

I love "The Commie-Kazis". Especially when you know that's based on real life.... errr, sortuh. The US Military IRL tested to see if Dolphins could be used to deploy bombs and stuff. Really psychotic and interesting.

I always saw the Silver Shroud as inspired by The Shadow. The fedora, trench coat, scarf, clouding people’s senses by using the shadows….The Shadow uses two silver pistols. The Shroud could have also used a Stealth Boy to hide himself like the Shadow does. Batman and the Shadow are actually pals too. I have some of the comics where they team up

For clarifications sake, the Thinker was actually a flash villain, getting his start over in his comics. He is a villain that has gotten around a bit due to the connected nature of the dc universe but he is a flash rogue

I think the second picture of the silver shroud was a poke at the comic illustrator Robert Liefelds outrageous art style, bulging anatomically inaccurate muscles and blocky frames covered in pouches and bandoliers wielding confusing weapons.

The Shroud takes inspiration from "Batman" (IE the butler) (Which is funny because The Shadow gave inspiration to the invention of Batman.) and a lot of the outfit (Trench coat, Red scarf and hat) and weapon (The Thompson) and his love interest (Margo Lane) comes from "The Shadow" radio show. There was production of a TV series that lasted one season. (considering The Shroud was just about to begin it's TV debut.) In the printed version of "The Shadow" his name is "Kent Allard", which Kent is the name of the guy that gives the quest chain. If you look up the title card picture for the 1994 movie of "The Shadow" you'll see Alac Baldwin in the outfit with the red scarf covering his face.
