I just watched The Fighting Sullivans again and am so glad this movie is still streaming. Nobody should ever forget the sacrifice those men and that whole family made for our country.

I'm the youngest brother of the Sage bros. Who were aboard the USS Frank e. Evans dd754 they lost their lives 3 June 1969 along with 71 of their shipmates, I know what the pain of losing three bros. "Lest we forget" God bless to all who served.

I live in Canada an even here the Sullivan brothers are known an respected

I had 2 brothers that passed away 2 years apart. Then few years down the road tragedy struck again. Losing my one and only sister. I could only imagine the pain the parents had to endure losing 5 all at the same time. Im so thankful for the men and women who put their lives on the line. So, thank you to all who serve this country.

I had an uncle. Youngest of 5 boys. Sole survivor of ww2. Changed my like. Lol Still after his passing owes me money. I miss him. More than the money. About the Sullivans. Their father went to work. On the train. Immediately after being notified. I can’t imagine his pain. I lost one son. I have other children but his pain compared to mine? I can’t imagine

I live about 45 minutes away from Waterloo and just makes me proud of iowa and just how many brave people sacrificed their lives and died as heros for this country

I remember this when I was a young girl why it came to my mine I don’t know, but lord remember and touch this family . God bless

I wish I could go over there from England to pay my respects two the Sullivan's. I got the film on DVD. Rip

Being a military wife of a man who retired from Air Force in the mid 1990s I’ll remember the Sullivan brothers now. It’s something not only the enlisted should do, but the spouses as well. I just watched a wonderful and touching movie about them. The wife of the youngest Sullivan brother made a sacrifice when she let him join the Navy. As a military wife I’m sure what I what I would do if I was in that position. God bless these 5 brothers and may their souls be at peace.

Remember the movie well as a youngest whom grow up with 4 other brother, at the end of the movie, I cried see them walking into heaven. That when the military will not let brother served in the same combat areas, no matter what branch of military service, they maybe in at that time.

Very good tribute to the heroic Sullivan brothers that was a huge naval battle that night off Guadalcanal the biggest in the six month campaign some 13 warships sunk than night by both sides

Seeing this short video from the film reminded me of the end where they are all on their way to heaven. Our nations families make a tremendous sacrifice of their children mostly in wartime. But you can die anytime in the military. Recently, a few months ago it was on the news that the navy ship named after all the brothers was suffering badly in retirement. It was thought she would sink. When ships retire wether to a community’s care or to government ship yards, her history does NOT retire nor lose its value. The men and women who served aboard these older ships remember their time in service with dignity and pride. Even though many years have passed since these young men died, the pain and suffering caused by their lose can still be felt in the film. The citizens of this country have had enough wars thanks to the military, that the pain of lost children and crippled survivors is always with us. The government is responsible for all her ships no matter when or where. Whose idea was it to making naming a ship after someone a matter of great honor and distinction. This concept doesn’t change with age and retirement. It doesn’t with people either. The U.S. Navy should have set up a department that helps take care of veteran ships. Yearly inspections should be done on all ships, not just the most famous ones.

I have six brothers and 3 of them died in the army and the other 2 are still alive in the navy

The USS The Sullivans is here in my city of Buffalo NY at the Naval Park on our downtown waterfront.

My great Uncle Michael Pustelny died on that ship as well. Its an extremely tragic story.

I grew up with the Fighting Sullivans movie and it was so disheartening not just of their deaths, but the further story after the ending credits rolled. The full story is not given in that movie. But, I am most humbly honored to "meet" Jimmy, even if through a video. How long ago was the interview done?

It's important to stubborn brother's to be remembered they were very brave to be heroes but that was a tragedy when they lost their lives

(2) brothers were previously in the U.S. Navy: George Thomas Sullivan, 27 (born December 14, 1914), Gunner's Mate Second Class (George had been previously discharged in May 1941 as Gunner's Mate Third Class.) Francis Henry "Frank" Sullivan, 26 (born February 18, 1916), Coxswain (Frank had been previously discharged in May 1941 as Seaman First Class.) The Sullivans enlisted in the US Navy on January 3, 1942, with the stipulation that they serve together. The Navy had a policy of separating siblings, but this was not strictly enforced. George and Frank had served in the Navy before, but their brothers had not. All five were assigned to the light cruiser USS Juneau. There was another set of brothers that died on the USS Juneau also. That is why the Sullivan act was passed. My dad was on the USS Louisville CA 28 from 1943-46 and witnessed 51 sailors and Rear Admiral Theodore Chandler buried at sea due to 3 kamikaze hits in Jan. 1945 & June 1945. I did see the destroyer USS The Sullivans DD 537 at Buffalo N.Y. GOD BLESS OUR SERVICEMEN & WOMEN - PAST AND PRESENT.

@@Smokyieus You are welcome. My dad lived til 2017 - almost made 93 years old. He left me with a lot of great stories and always said that I would never have to go thru what the men of the USS Louisville went thru in the Pacific in WW2. He was part of a 20 A/A gun crew - port side below main gun #2. There is a turret found in 2015 from USS Louisville in the Nevada Desert and my dad was able to give important info. to Mr. Rob Hoffman who found it. My dad used to go to the reunions and my mom would say what a great bunch of guys. Take care!

It makes me sad that the Sullivans got all the tears and mourning. A mother from Connecticut had 4 sons on that ship. My cousin was on that ship, but you only hear about the Sullivans

Sadly it came out later that one of the brothers lived and because it took to long in finding them he passed and many others did too.

You can't blame the entire. Of what was started by a few. We should never forget those that had been rounded up and put into camps. The young men who volunteered out of those Camps. Would become one of Hitler's worse Nightmares, as the 442nd all Japanese Volunteers. A total of 21 of these Soldiers. Would be awarded the MOH. Just as not all Germans where bad. Many despised Hitler and what he was getting away with. Yet they never gave up. All the way up to Operation Valkyrie.

Plus the German/Japanese civilians lived under a military dictatorship and had no say in how their country was run or what their military did.
