The Fighting Sullivans | 2012

This event took place at the Clinton School of Public Service on December 4th, 2012.
Kelly Sullivan Loughren discusses the legacy of her grandfather, Albert, and his four brothers - George, Frank, Joseph and Madison- who were all killed in action on November 13, 1942 while serving on the Navy’s USS Juneau during the first Battle of Guadalcanal during World War II. The magnitude of the loss for the Sullivan family captured the sympathy of the country, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered a new Navy destroyer to be named for the "Fighting Sullivans." The brothers' motto "We Stick Together" is also the motto of the second ship named after the brothers, USS The Sullivans (DDG-68).
