Lyrics:
Today I saw somebody
Who looked just like you
She walked like you do
I thought it was you
As she turned the corner
I called out your name
I felt so ashamed
When it wasn't you, wasn't you, oh, oh
You are everything and everything is you
Oh, oh you are everything and everything is you
Oh, oh, you are everything and everything is you
How can I forget
When each face that I see
Brings back memories
Of being with you
I just can't go on living life as I do
Comparing each girl to you
Knowing they just won't do
They're not you
You are everything and everything is you
Oh, oh you are everything and everything is you
Oh, oh you are everything and everything is you
You are everything and everything is you
Oh, oh you are everything and everything is you
Oh, oh you are everything and everything is you
Oh, oh you are everything and everything is you

The smooth singing voice of Russell Thompkins Jr. give me the chills
My dad passed 13 days ago and every time I hear this song I think of him and that night then we listened to it at a park he always took me to when I was 8, him singing “you are everything and everything is you” to me. My mom told me that he adorned me and called me his “angel baby girl”. No one will ever replace the man who would literally do anything for me. I’m only 13 and he was my world and I was his. I love and miss you so dad.❤

I'm So very sorry sweetheart. And although I'm older than You are, I know that Pain that You are going through very well, and I never thought I would ever be Ok again. But I Am. And so will You. But you take all the time you need because these feelings that you're going through are very personal and just between You and your Dad. Just hope that if you need someone to talk with that you'll reach out to someone who cares and who would love to be there for You, and so let them be, if You need them to be (and for sure, your Mom). Know that there is One thing that will Never separate us, and that's Love. And Lena, once a Parent, "Always" a Parent. And so Speak to your Dad, about anything, and if you'd like even ask him to show You that he's there with You, and he Will show You! All You need to do is to be patient, and "Believe." Lastly, what a Most Beautiful Song You and your Mom have and that I believe was the Greatest and most beautiful Gift anyone could receive from their Dad. It'll be Ok Lena, and You will be OK too, and.. so will your Mom. Just give it time. And remember, "Believe.." ❤️ 🙏

I grew up on this kind of music. My mom passed away on February 28th, 2014. Shortly after she passed away, I saw a lady who looked exactly like my mom and I wanted so badly to walk over and hug this lady so tight. I started crying and this song was playing in my head. So whenever I jear this song, it makes me think of her. Almost 9 years and I miss her so much.

I don't think one ever gets over the loss of their mom. I was her caregiver for many years. She had dementia and it broke my heart when I couldn't do it any longer and she went into a nursing home. She only lasted 5 1/2 months, and she passed in December 2019. This kind of music I believe, evokes the feelings of love and loss and in a way healing. Don't let songs like these ever die. Bless you.

Feb 10, 2020: I dedicate this song to my first boyfriend and the true love of my life, Sgt Manuel R. Martinez of Albuquerque. Manuel, 23, was killed in an auto accident on Aug 22, 1975 south of Santa Fe. Returning to Albuquerque from a long work week at the Farmington mines, he rolled his 240Z Datsun. Manuel trained as a Marine at Camp Pendleton (radio operator), served a year in Okinawa and was a member of the VFW & Carpenters Union. Still in high school, we exchanged letters often. By the time I graduated, I knew I had fallen in love with him. Manuel graduated from West Mesa High School in 1970 and participated in track & field. Sadly, my mother did not like him and made our lives miserable. Then....he was gone. She laughed when she learned of his death, while mocking me for becoming hysterical. (I had a nervous breakdown and spent time in a psych ward.) Manuel's shy grin, warm heart, gentle spirit and strong work ethic were endearing traits to those of us who loved him. KATRINA *Bless the LORD, all His hosts, you servants who do His will. Psalm 103:21

I remember listening to this song when my mother listened to her " AM Gold" radio station back in the very early 70's. I was floored when I heard the Wonder Years play it all those years later. Ive always had a soft spot for the Stylistics, especially this and You make me feel brand new- it always takes me back to the early 7o's whenever it comes on.
The song is a wake up call. It's my sign from Universe.
One of the best falsetto voice I’ve ever heard Russell Thompkins Jr. lead vocalist on this classic Stylistic song. Without him there is no Stylistics.

As a college student at PVAMU during the height of the Stylistics career, their sound brings back so many memories of an era that has passed but will forever be remembered in my mind and heart. 😊

Red Bank , N.J. The 60’s and 70’s. Streets- playing in bands. Going to concerts Soaking it all in. Hard rock, Heavy Metal, Motown, Philly Soul, Prog Rock, Electronic music, Punk Rock, Funk, Space Rock and Space Funk and hip- Hop beginnings .We did it all and everyone’s been regurgitating what we created ever since. This song- what can be said , she was mine for 31 years, this song was ours . Lost her, just being a man. One of those songs that stops you in your tracks.❤️. Hurts😢

Me bro. My young bride and I would gaze into each other’s eyes to this song, our song❤️ Oh, we were both metal heads but grew up in the ‘60s and ‘70s when music belonged to everyone and not compartmentalized like it is today. Still great music today but not everyone is privy to it.
I have always loved their music since i was a child❤.

The Stylistics have always been my favorite group from the 70s era..... The Chi-Lites, The Manhattans, The Spinners and The Delfonics round out my top five! Check these groups out if you haven't!!
This is the classic music that I grew up with, true feelings music that we will never get again.
Music like this is Timeless. We need more artist to sing this way again.

This wasn't Detroit. This came from Philadelphia
I was born in 1960. San Antonio Texas. Had 6 sisters and Motown was we listened to. They just don't write them like this anymore.
This music,is timeless and will forever live on in the hearts of the "Babyboomers"!!!Let's hear,it for the boys !☆☆☆
Now this is the shydt!!! Nothing better than this!!!❤
I was and still am a huge fan of this group! I know every lyric of every song they ever did. I bought every single album, and I played them and I played them and I played them. And here I am 74 years old and the music of the greats never die, I so much appreciate these memories. And this music is far better than anything out there today❤
EVERY song from this group is an absolute masterpiece...then, now and forever. This is when music was absolute music, and stayed in your mind and your heart during some of the most difficult and yet wonderful times of your entire life! I remember hearing this for the first time in 1974 and the powerful memories it returns every time I hear it are breathless, God bless every member of this group for the wonderful talent that they have! 💜
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life. I love these guys. It gives me chills and makes me cry every time I hear it. I'm a man, and no...I'm not a wimp for admitting that.

70's soul nothing like it loving it
One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. Cuts me deep in my heart and to the depths of my soul. First heard this in the early 90’s on The Wonder Years. Kevin and Winnie dancing together after being mad at each other all night on they’re seperate dates and then making up with a magic moment and this song made it happen.
