I grew up with the Stylistics with such love ❤... I sang this to my son, while breastfeeding. My son is the MOST BEAUTIFUL & kind human being I've ever known in my entire life... he followed my adult music lifestyle of heavy & metal rock now, yet he remembers this song & appreciates this genre as I do! It goes to show how history, great or not, DOES HAPPEN. If you DEMAND history to be erased from a social studies class, you ARE a problem with our country. Keep making music alive - we NEED MORE Americans to keep history in our kids' lives! ❤ Music, included!

Regina Belle did a cover the song, on her album Reachin' Back. Incidentally, when Barry Gibb started using his falsetto in his recordings, it was because of his admiration of Russell Thompkins.

The lead singer of the Stylistics ( Russell Thompkins) always reminded me of Eddie Holman, who sang ' Lonely Girl '

Absolutely, So many groups back in the day had that one falsetto that was the truth, when talent counted more than technology!!

I was about 15 when this song came out. It reminded me so much of my boyfriend that I bought the sheet music so I could play it on my guitar. He & I didn't work out ...but to this day when I hear this song, I think of him.
