This mainly happens in kerala!!! because of deploma/btech bme graduates are ready to work for free or paid training. Misusing of biomedical freshers!! so we should rethink about it. I suggest all the biomedical engineers to please never join for a paid training. Its really pathetic. we have biomedical degree and why should we pay & get training!!!

Well said .. The core reason why majority leave this field within 1 or 2 yrs of passing out. Many don't see light at the end of the tunnel hence switch fields. " Who is promoting this"?? 1. Sr.Biomedical Engrs or Biomedical Managers who hire trainees just to get there pending projects done. They dont expect anything more. The attitude- like we are doing you a favor, should change. Then only we can strengthen our community. - Minimum budget allocated by companies/ hospitals for trainees . 2. As trainees always try to project urself in such a way u create value ... " take it as opportunity to practise ur skills and polish them in real world scenarios. Acquire the most important skill with confidence- that is "Communication". Many trainees too expect someone will teach them everything which never happens. Fruits of sticking to this field is worth after the first 5 yrs.

Situation is bad when the first employment is in hospitals after passing out where pay scale is really low but as you mentioned , there are companies hiring biomedical engineers who actually value this degree in medical domain. So freshers should not be disappointed and grab any such company profile that comes their way.

Right on spot. This is mostly seen in Kerala. It has become a norm that BMEs has to work for a year or two for free. Every trainee has to resign and not work for free. Eventually these people will have no other option but to pay. We as a community should bring such a movement and strictly adhere to it.

Unfortunately, It’s taken as an opportunity by many of the hospitals. Seeing a trainee vacancy without stipend should be considered as the low stand of a hospital or the way they treat the qualified people. It’s only because there are people to work for free. You will get a decent salary if you are working for a company after completing your course, there are many companies recruiting freshers. Its better to avoid these kind of slavery work, work where you will get some value and respect. There are Hospitals, who conduct interview for trainees as well and pay a decent stipend. Saving money in a department shouldn’t be by misusing some qualified people.

Running an hospital without a biomedical engineer is not possible.Hospitals are just a buildings without the medical equipments and we are the one who is maintaining/trouble shooting all the medical equipments. Its really impossible to run an hospital without biomedical engineers and still hospitals peoples are treating biomedical engineers like their slaves. The one who works for them around 6 months or even 1year without any payment. so guyss please don't work freely.Even a paint worker gets paid by ₹1000 per day🥱so think about it before joining in the hospital without pay..we are not slaves

It's the most underrated job in India and that's very demotivating. Pay and respect, both it lacks which is just sad. There's no paid internship. Starting pay is also very less and it takes years long of experience to reach decent pay scale. In city like Mumbai even a watchman earns more than a biomedical engineer.

It's true, Biomedical Engineers get decent package in MNC's and also in abroad. It's also important to move where payment is very less and think of better opportunities and build a good technical know how to become more valuable in the industry. .

@@BiomedicalVlogs apparently from what I've noticed pay is decent in some parts of north and south but in majority of cities, and so called industrial capital Mumbai, even MNC pays you less than 20k in the beginning. It all depends on your first pay though. It's difficult to get job into MNCs without experience and even if you get into it, the pay is so less! I know a Man who has about 6-7 years of experience in different major hospitals like Fortis, Kohinoor and Nanavati, after so many years of experience now he's getting close to 30k/ month. When this pandemic hit the country, biomedical engineers too worked hard but no one mentioned them. Even the ward boy & watchman got appreciation then why not biomedical engineers -_-

Not sure which MNC pays less than 20K, that’s really ridiculous. Avg pay in MNC is around 30-50K. We are running a poll on avg salary for Biomedical Engineers in India in Biomedical Job Portal LinkedIn page. We may do one for MNCs as well, let’s see.
