Seriously implies something a little different. Do you think if he WAS to train for a competition again he'd change absolutely and we mean absolutely nothing about what he does now? Of course he would, that's wat the implication was touching on. He probably could do certain things even more to maximize gains and strength but doesn't need to, the pace he's at now is enough. It's not the same as saying he doesn't already do a lot or doesn't take lifting seriously in general.

Is it fair to say Clarence is a hobbyist since all his youth he trained for the competitions and aimed to the Olympic games? And talking about not training that seriously, he did train under the coaching of Gabriel Sincraian, an olympic medalist, for a good while after he stopped competing. And now his business is making money from him lifting and coaching. But I agree, he's in way another category from other people in terms of what he's doing and his situation. The feels when you see him touch his shoulder after the snatch foreshadowing the shoulder giving up on jerk. I think it'd be fair to address PEDs because Clarence is very straight forward and transparent about that too. With no judgment, given that he started using them rather late when he had already lifted some really impressive weights, and knowing that other athletes use PEDs as well if they have any shot on Olympic medals. But Clarence is rather honest about it and staying out of the competition due to taking them so I think it's a reasonable thing to mention to not give a casual viewer misguided impression about things they might project to their own abilities. And I think the comparison to active competing lifters is also slightly skewed from them having to usually cycle out for the competition. Regardless Clarence is uniquely gifted.

2:07 and he did it in some busted $10 sneakers 😭 Clarence is a testament to the power of persistence and dedication combined with talent. There are ZERO excuses. If you want to be great, it is not the best gear, or the best plan, or the best programming, or the best diet... it is being IN the gym day after day after day, relentlessly,

Clarence is so rad. He's such an enimga. The amazing tricking, his honesty about gear and the unfairness in organized lifting, the purity of his lifts and lack of use of lifting aids, etc. He just does it his own way, and he doesn't need a gold medal for knowledgable fans to know he's one of the very strongest men in the world at his weight. Hard not to like the guy.

Just needs a good coach to help him deal with the head game. And BTW so much for the theory that you can’t lift heavy and still be extremely mobile and agile. I don’t know what his endurance is like, but I bet it’s pretty god. Admirable and inspiring.

Clarence is the weightlifter we wish we had compete. Although he said he's not natural I just hope someday there will be a weightlifting federation that will allow PEDs so we can potentially see more people lifting insane totals like Clarence has at his bodyweight, similar to how powerlifting does it. Weightlifting already has unnatural totals out there and because drug testing has gotten a lot stricter with there being a new IWF president there won't be totals that were as high as there was at Beijing/London Olympics. Also no Clarence would not win an Olympic medal. Even if he was top 3 he'll just be stripped of it like Ilya Ilyin because of PEDs that he admittedly uses. He'll fail a test eventually.

@@BreyFitnessif you think that stopped weightlifters from using you are definitely naive. Lasha popped as a junior hitting very unimpressive lifts, the only reason they won't pop him now is the name of the sport and the dream 500 total.
