A few things to note: *Odysseus is a classical age unit. The first half of this video is rather skewed because of this mistake. *Zeus's heroes have access to the Olympic Parentage improvement, increasing their hitpoints by a whopping 25%. *Each age after the archaic age increases all heroes' health and attack by 10% each.

Good points, I'll try to keep this in mind for the next comparison but I chose to exclude upgrades and not compare units of different ages (your third point) for that reason. Even though I accidentally did with Odysseus

I think it's rather the second part that is skewed: for the first one, we can just remove Ulysses from the equation and thus conclude Ajax is the best one. For the classical age, though, Ulysses is missing from the tests and thus wasn't properly compared to his counterparts, so we can't say who is the best hero.

if you tested hippocrates in combat then you must test the other heroes in healing skills ! XD

@@jimhalpert9803 I guess it's due to him not having any special ability that can be added as troughout his tasks his only perk is being very strong. Most of the cunning plans were his nephew's. I guess you could add to Heracles the ability to pull his Toxo and shoot a poisoned arrow at myth units to apply a deadly DOT. Hilariously, Heracles was the common sense guy during Jason's quest for the Golden Flece.

Bellerophon is easily the best hero, because its ability is broken, doesnt matter if the cyclops technically win the 1v1.

personally I prefer bellephron. why? because if you micro bellephron's leap he can take far less damage and do far more in a longer fight. yes he can't instant kill, but if a bunch of units are ganging up on Perseus or Polyphemus, both will die, and even if you micro both to try and mitigate damage, they are simply really slow, and even if there is a myth unit wailing away at your units, if there is even a few human units keeping you out of range of those myth units, instant kills don't matter much. Bellephron does not share this problem, his leap, while not an instant kill, still deals massive damage, and with a few more basic attacks can easily kill a myth unit, if other human units are about to close in, no problem, just micro him away and leap again and repeat several times if necessary.

Poly now has 900 hp. He's a true tank now

I dont know about the last patch etc, but Bellerophon is clearly overpowered in aom and aom titans when they were released.. very fast , dodging arrows, plenty of HP and with an awesome special attack that recharges very quickly.. useful not only for myth but for siege and other things that cause a headache too

You should definitely re-do this vid if you get the time. There are errors with the numbers and all. I'll leave a link for the changelog from The Titans to EE Patch 2.8 below. Even the wikia isn't fully updated and at times has half the stats only. As everyone pointed out, Odysseus is a Classical Age archer hero like the other archer heroes. Also the Archaic Age heroes get a negative multiplier to their attack in the Archaic, so they should be ideally tested in the Classical Age. Between the Archaic Age heroes, Ajax should be the best due to his 30% Hack Armour compared to the other two's 25%. Likewise Theseus is the best against arrows with his 40% Pierce Armour compared to 35% for the other two. Between the Classical Age archer heroes, Odysseus is the most standard, Hippolyta is a glass cannon and Chiron trades range for speed. They also have different bonuses vs. the Niddhogg for some reason. Hippolyta has the most @ 8.05, Chiron is second @ 7.7 while Odysseus has no extra bonus over the standard x7 against Myth Units. In Heroic Age, Achilles is the most balanced as well as best armoured. Atalanta is the fastest which helps her to keep up (actually outrun) Poseidon's cavalry armies. Heracles has the most HP and attack but is the slowest. Between the Mythic Age heroes, Bellerophon is the best in general combat due to his attack (20) and his special does 60*5 i.e. 300 damage to Myth Units. Polyphemus had his special limited to MUs but it became an insta-kill and has 3 range instead of 0.1. Polyphemus also got 20 crush (siege) damage which gives him a secondary purpose as building destroyer. Perseus had the range of his special doubled (10 instead of 5). He also had his attack doubled (14 instead of 7) but his Myth multiplier halved (5 instead of 10), making him a lot better in general combat but still inferior to the other two. Their damages vs. MUs outside special attacks are Polyphemus (15*7 i.e. 105) > Bellerophon (20*5 i.e. 100) >> Perseus (14*5 i.e. 70). meta-plays.com/forums/topic/1207-ee-no-patch-to-28-most-complete-and-correct-changelog/

Polyphemus also has 5 crush, so he's even better still vs MUs.

Fun fact: Polyphimus is not a hero in Greek mythology. He is the son of Poseidon and a cyclops. Odysseus met him with his troops and being the smart guy he is named himself "nobody". Polyphimus plan was to appear friendly and then eat everyone. Odysseus blinds him as a last resort to escape him (which later makes him lose the favor of Poseidon). Hence the famous quote: "who blinded you" (asked the other cyclops) "Nobody! Nobody blinded me!".

oh my God the names are butchered in so many ways it's painful AAAAAAARGH Good to test the heroes, though!

Worthy noting is the fact that both Polyphemus as well as Heracles are sons of Gods, therefore they might have better stats because of lore reasons. Polyphemus is the son of Poseidon and Heracles is the son of Zeus.

2 types of Cyclopes in the ancient Myths. the Hesiod's Cyclopes were the sons of titans. Homer's cyclopes were all the sons of Poseidon. So by that token all Cyclopes myth units should be super powerful lol

Greeks are my favorite group to use in all AOM games, so quite informative.

These are nice videos, i say the comparison could be better, but the scene editor is tricky to work with. You give me a "Spirit of the law" vibe, but instead of playing AoE2 you play AoM and i love it. You have definitley earned a subscriber

Bellerophon is more valuable in sieges and Battle, as he can jump and reach the enemy's protected units kept on the back.

From the 3 interpretations of Jupiter all of them are king of the Gods and texts directly translated from Greek label Zeus as "Llupiter". I don't know what you want to accomplish here

Because people have translated the works and used their names interchangeably doesn't mean that the original text is anything alike. If you're saying that Jupiter is just Zeus with another name then you've only read a translation of the greek story where they renamed Zeus to Jupiter. Which happens a LOT. Next you're probably going to tell me that Zeus and Jupiter both throw lighting so they have to be the same people. The point i'm trying to make is that the common misconception that greek and roman mythology are just nameswaps simply isn't true. Just like how Woden and Oden aren't the same person because the germanic and norse faith evolved away from eachother.

Best myth unit for all gods: you can take only the winners of each region example: egyptian winner 2° age (Scorpion man) vs nortic winner 2° age (mountain giant) ... yes but it plays very differently than this verison like WAY different. and bug with Horus was the most Broken god for the Egypt as one the research accidently granted ALL units 15% extra defense and attack instead of just infantry. so broken was he that you could have heavy infantry with terrain defense to equal 100%. They could Never die no matter what you did.

I think it's to do with Hippolyta not being a cavalry/archer (riding a horse) compared to Chiron so she doesn't have the speed. To compensate she was given a higher buff against Myth Units.

Yeah Hippocolus wasn't an original Greek hero. I guess that's an expansion hero. Basically all 3 Greek Gods got a sword & shield (or Spear and shield for Ajax) in the first level, an archer for the second level, a quick hero in the 3rd level and a special ability hero at the last level. Perseus is the best out of the 3 mythic age heroes when it comes to dealing with myth units. Polyphemus is the best all around mythic hero especially when fighting regular units

Hippocrates is pronounced "Hipp ah cruh tees" like Socrates. Also, hes not a fighter. Odysseus is more a classic hero and should have been against the other archer heroes. If you wanted to dive into more depth, you could discuss their individual feats. Chiron is faster than the other two archers. Atalanta and Achilles also have speed over heracles. Perseus can't instakill but lacks in the general combat area; polyphemus is good in combat and vs myth units but is slow; bellarophon's special can be utilized for positioning which makes him effective in combat. These sorts of different features plays a role in their performance beyond the mere attack damage and hp stats.

In AoM EE Patch 2.8, Perseus has 14 attack and *5 multiplier vs. MUs instead of his old stats of 7 attack and *10 multiplier. He's definitely quite strong in general combat.

1v1 Arcus wins as it has better stats. With same amount of resources spent it could go either way. The way the game balances the factions is that Atlanteans has the best human units in terms of stats, and they all can be promoted to heroes, but they are also more expensive so you can't field large armies. Greeks have better units than Egypt and Norse, but not as good as Atlanteans, and this is shown in the price. Egypth has cheap disposable human troops but makes up for it in numbers and training speed. Norse has it's wierd stat allocations to throw off players, but the general idea is that their units are glass cannons with the exception of Huscarls who are very tanky and Jarls who are the strongest cavalry. The faction is designed around hit&run raids or shock assault. Chinese are the epitome of cheap and disposable, the units suck 1v1 but they make up for it in sheer numbers.

"I did not expect Herakles, the literal demigod son of zeus and later on god of strength, to defeat Achilles, a man who was just a very powerful warrior who has difficult to kill." -Protoxx XD Also for the record, been around forever in this game and let me tell you, the best heroes for greeks go something like this: Polyphemus Bellerophon Heracles The reasons being, Polyphemus just has insane stats. Bellerophon's charge does insane amounts of damage to basically anything he can hit with it and it recharges insanely fast. He is very quick on his feet as well and that is important in multiplayer. Heracles also has insane stats for a heroic age unit, just not as insane as Polyphemus. As for your opinion on Perseus... Perseus has only one single use; Use ability on expensive myth unit and then run. Too expensive for what he does and only really good at fighting myth units. Unless you are fighting someone who likes getting expensive myth units ( and not just spam automatons for example ) Perseus will not really do anything because he has bad stats, is not very fast and his ability only works on myth units.

Yes, he is a healer available to all Greek factions. You can only train 1 and it has no attack and piss poor hp, but it can heal. The only other ways to heal for greeks were Athena's Regeneration or Apolo's Healing Temples. The other factions simply had more healing so they added him in. Egypt can heal with pharao and priests, Norse can use Valkyries or Well of Life, Atlanteans have the Caladria, Servant and Hero/MU regen upgrade later on. And chinese had a healer unit as well as a MU that healed allies upon death.

As someone who has worked with phonetics, your comment is hilarious. You can't just spell out a word and go "This is how it's pronounced!!" An example to why you can't do that, The letter C can be pronounces as an S making Chiron pronounced as Shee-ron. So typing it "Actually it's pronounced Chiron" does absolutely nothing to help the person to pronounce it any better. [Ki-ron] is a way you could type it out to help. And with that in mind you did nothing to help the situation, you just spelled out the hero names I just can't get over how horrible your comment is.

Polyphemus is just ridiculously powerful, period. I'd be interested to see if Bellerophon could defeat him when they both have max upgrades available to them but I doubt it. Even with Olympic Parentage for Bell.

Your tests are all strength tests did not see a single 100m sprint test..... If you did that you find out Bellethron/achillies/atlanta/chiron have advantages over hercules/polythemeus for example. Also I think hippolta only kills nidhogg faster than chiron cos she has higher base damage rather simple :D.

@@Nexotic0 I’ve been playing this game since it’s release date, your information on the heroes are wrong on so many levels I would have to rewatch the video and compile a list of literally the entire thing. Off the top of my head you have wrong hero names and wrong ages of the heroes listed. I’ve watched all your videos related to AOM and have enjoyed them even though there were some minor inaccuracies , but this video is literally 50% misinformation and incorrect , you should really consider to do it again with the right info , just my 2cents
