As a software engineer I, sometimes, scribble some stuff while troubleshooting complex cases. Having visual clues as to what your analysis is looking like helps a lot. The notepad page structure looks like it would be great for those times.

You should honestly sell the products as a bundle. Like, "know a cortexan or want to ruin someone's perspective of what they actually need in pena nd paper?!?!? buy them the cortex bundle!!!" Something like that. I feel like I would love to get either, all 3 for a discount by buying all at once or keep the equivalent price the same but make the packaging extra nice to really make it for gifts

About the 'product video' - i think it's great and made me desire the sidekick loads... BUT I'd like to see a right handed person using it too! The ergonomics for a left handed writer is very different. I want to make sure I'd be happy with the to do list on the right - as a right hander! What do you think?

Now that the product video exists, I would really love to see a video about how the product is made, and that machinery was purchased for the creation of the product itself, and how it is made by people and not automated machines. It really gives a premium feel.

Mumbo Jumbo does product videos. he has a great laptop one he did a little while back. I think it would be super cool to see him tackle this SideKick Notepad. As a bonus he's also British. When I saw the clip for this the first thing that came to mind is, it'll be cool for illustrating comics/manga or like the rough draft of that sort of thing. Another use for the layout could be recipes and cooking instructions. In Canada taxes were always paid up front even in the 90's if I recall. I've been buying on Aliexpress lately and shipping is something I"m starting to relearn is a normal thing. I've been wanting to buy KZreadr and Twitch merch but shipping is often $20 to get to Canada and is too much for most items like mugs or calendars.

edit: listening to this episode has been greatly pleasing but: i don’t quite understand why you wouldn’t just buy a theme system journal which is also perforated & lays flat open it to the middle to start, and use it in this way especially for the price

To the shipping thing and the taxes. Wouldn't it be possible to just show 40$ (or more/less) on the product page and then calculate the actual price + taxes from that. For Germany (19%): 40$ price -> 33.61$ actual price + 6.39$ taxes For France/UK (20%): 40$ price -> 33.33$ actual price + 6.67$ taxes For NY City (8.875%): 40$ price -> 36.74$ actual price + 3.26$ taxes On the one hand yea the actual price would be different for each country but you roughly know your costumer base and could calculate the amortisiert price the product needs to be to be so you can cover the cost. It might only need to cost 37$ for everyone! I always found the concept of a price that is not the actual price very irritating and misleading! It greatly increases the friction of buying something from shops that do it. I clicked away from multiple purchases just because they almost "doubled" the price with tax and shipping!

I love the idea and really want one but why am I having to import and pay $12-$36 (shipping & duties) for something made 20 miles from me? I'm guessing you're expecting more/most orders from the US but I would've thought you have a sizeable UK/EU following that you would've stocked an amount "this side of the pond" but I appreciate life can be more complicated than that... I would like to know if this might change in the foreseeable future or not?

@@cortexFM yeah... I forgot to edit this comment after I listened to that part, (the irony not lost on me about this being the number one question! 😅) However, I do have a suggestion, it would be far less jarring if the site had localisation, as you both know it's a bit of a culture shock for EU/UK citizens to not see the full "with tax" price. But I understand that this is an issue for Cotton bureau and not something you guys can effect other than providing feedback. On a positive note, my sidekick notepad has been ordered and I'm very much looking forward to it!

I guess I don't really get it. Why would I bring this giant notepad with me into, you give the example of a meeting, instead of a normal notepad or journal? Am I really going to pull this thing out and put it on the table? Then you can pull the sheets off and do what? Have giant pieces of paper on my wall or folded up in a folder somewhere? Maybe this just isn't for me but I hope it does well for you guys.

Moretexan here: Aside from the weird ridiculous crap at the end with the helicopter that felt like it was out of a different movie, the first Mission Impossible was great and I'll not hear otherwise! It made me understand why people are into the series, even though every other MI movie I'd seen had kind of prejudiced me against it. The second one on the other hand, woof. No argument there, that movie was pretty bad in a lot of different ways. I did like some things about it but I would rather just look up those scenes than watch the movie again.

Long time listener, but the concept is a little disappointing. 60 pages for something designed to be written and thrown away, for about 50 cents a page, not counting shipping and other fees, with no potential to reload it. I love the idea, but considering it uses recycled paper, what happened to your profit margins? How is this worth nearly $50 when you can get a bullet journal for a fraction of the price?

Re: 13:00 I think you really, really, don't want more than one of them at once. If it's your sidekick, it goes everywhere. I think having one for podcasting and one for other stuff is a bad plan. You want one PAGE at a time for podcasting. Flicking the page is 'moving to podcasting mode' and, like a sidekick, it follows you (okay you take it but you get the metaphor) round your day.
