In 2018 Team SoloMid's founder, Andy "Reginald" Dinh was on top of the world.
He was the CEO of the most valuable team in esports, and business was booming. His players and teams were cleaning up. He was a king.
But in five short years, it all came tumbling down.
TSM has changed a lot in the last five years. The team Regi built is in shambles and it might not even exist anymore. But how did the man who took over esports fall this far?

if you're just playing around, then you can ignore this comment, but on the chance you're being serious then I wanted to just say that's not exactly how it works :) Companies do internal investigations all the time. They hire an independent firm to do the investigation, they don't have an internal team do it. Yes, they have control over who they hire to do it, so feel free to be skeptical, but it's not the same as an internal team doing a check. The firm they hire likely takes it very seriously and will have a point of contact that they share the details of their investigation to once they are done with all the interviews, document reviews, going through emails and chat histories etc.

@@Senthin I remember one video where Doublelift shared an instance where one of the players is called Banana or something because Reginald called him useless and just there to give some Bananas, and the investigator asked if that was in a racist manner, like they are dumbfounded and confused, why does race have to be brought in to make it a foul when its just plain bullying in the first place. Yeah those investigators sure are reliable, IRCC those investigators are from RIOT even. SMH.

It was probably one of the few NA rosters that could actually go far internationally, not that they were better than eastern teams but good enough to win on a good day and that's all you need. But NA had huge mental block during those times, atleast now it feels like they think they can win. If they just had another year I'm sure they'd give us some upsets at world atleast. One can always dream, EU fan who followed DL and Bjergsen since the first seasons they played. Loved that TSM roster so much, they had so much personality.

Yeah, if the classic "mid or feed" was a person it'd be Regi. I always had a bad feeling about him ever since seeing videos in season 2/3, even made a couple reddit threads (yes, I am pathetic :D) about how he was toxic to the players and an awful head of the org since he was basically a poison slowly ruining everything, and I can't remember seeing a single person even *somewhat* agree and they'd get furious and remove it pretty fast. Not like I broke any rules or did it purely flaming him, it was a respectful critique and discussion, though ofcourse I understand that criticising the TSM Top G isn't something they wanna have on there, even from a loving fan. TSM was basically the North Korea of e-sports teams. I was just so frustrated that my favorite team was rotting from the inside and no one could taste or smell it.. xdd It was so crazy to me cause he was openly awful towards the players on VIDEO lmao, imagine how bad it must've been behind closed doors and how he must've been in a non-professional setting. The spiciest stuff is probably not even known about publicly and people are likely still scared of him, not wanting to risk spilling the beans. Sorry for the long text, I doubt anyone will even read it but I will always feel dissapointed about these amazing players and personalities missing out on so much of their potential on that org so I need a little vent.

Pretty disappointing that the video doesn't go in depth on how Leena was a big cause of a majority of TSM's downfall. Essentially had zero background in any kind of management role and she got where she was by piggyback riding on people's success by "dating" them. Drawing Regi as a villian isn't far off from the truth but Leena was just as bad. Even outside of the whole Dardoch drama it's pretty evident she has no idea what she is doing

I cut regi a lot of slack for some of the super early stuff because he was literally a kid in charge. I'm talking about the dyrus era. No excuse for the stuff years later.

I've been a C9 fan most of my life and hated TSM because of this dude. Always thought their only redeeming point was Soren. And for Soren alone I hope TSM can rebuild itself anew, with different management and direction.

There is a lot of history here so I get it but this felt a bit rushed. Skipping over the wild early years, which are really the meat of the story, feels like a misstep.

As soon as the whole Xpecial debacle went down, it was clear to see how regi works. The first league roster was top tier. Dyrus and TheOddone carried that team. AFAIK they where the first to do vlogs

Help me understand. The TSM CEO got flamed for being a bully. How much different is he than a college basketball coach? Is the esports community just more sensitive or was he really something bigger?

@highfiveshighfives4980 Just search for "How TSM Reginald Lost Everyone's Respect" on youtube, that video dives much deeper into all the nasty shit Regi did both as a player on TSM and then as CEO. He wasn't *just* a bully, he never took responsibility and blamed his teammates for his own poor performance. Before there was Tyler1, there was Reginald. He was a narcissist through and through, and that's not the kind of person you want leading an esports org. As CEO of TSM he slowly became more and more unhinged and controlling regarding his LoL team - especially once Bjergsen left and TSM Lost - until it all fell apart and then the "TSM leaving to join another tier 1 region" announcement was made, an announcement that Regi was _never_ serious about actually going through with.

But like what’d he actually do? Sure he admitted to being a bit harsh and incentive, but the results of the multiple investigations weren’t even mentioned in this video. Sounds to me like it was just a clash of different egos and personalities.

Regi was beyond a "bit harsh," It was borderline sadistic how he would belittle his employees in front of others. It was all a power trip that stroked Regi's ego knowing that neither the employee nor the bystanders could stand up to him. After Riot fined Regi, they set up a hotline for anyone in the TSM org to report if Regi continued his behavior. Riot was pissed and was a hair's width away from dropping the hammer on Regi. All of this is a bit wild considering TSM was by far the most popular team in League.

As someone who was a fan of them since the start and watched aaaaaall of their games (most live even though I'm from Europe) I can say with confidence that TSM was basically the North Korea of e-sports teams Kim Jong Regi, the dictator. Holding Bjergsen hostage when he probably could've found amazing success on other teams, both in NA and EU. DL is the GOAT of NA but I'm pretty sure Bjergsen could've reached bigger heights if he got out in time. When he finally got to TL and 100t it was sadly too late.

kinda karma it was reginald that killed tsm in the end, the ftx deal had him break the bank to build the 50m esport facility just for ftx to go under and tsm sitting having spent millions was running out of cash.

The part that absolutely got me, was when the TSM investigation vame back that he "Didn't do anything illegal." Noone claimed he did! The question wasn't if he was breaking the law, the question was if he was an asshole! And fir anyone who doesn't know PR, it translates to "He is guilty of everything he us being accused of."

Eh? Regie just put most of his money into it (200 000 000 from what I understand). It's good old "don't put all your money in one basket" saying...and of all things into crypto, who's office is in fucking offshore. Na, in the end, it's just another proof Regie wasn't as smart as he thought he was.

this video was a lot of recap and barely any new info. Idk how they made it up to 20mins when the last 4mins was most of the new information, and by new i mean the past 4 months which isn't all that new. Im assuming that this isn't necessarily an update video of the whole ordeal but more so a continuation of the previous "the story of x" video but i felt like i had wasted my time considering they made several other videos talking about this drama.
