The lore of Outland changed quite a bit between Warcraft 3 and WoW. The broken were THE draenei, with no relation to the eredar. The Black Temple was called the Black Citadel, and was located in Hellfire Peninsula.

I love listening to this type of lore while playing SL in Outlands

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Pit Lords also the strongest pure demons we know of? Sargeras was a Titan and Eredar were also beings of Order blessed by Light. As far as I know canonically strongest demon after them is Mannoroth and his track record isn't exactly stellar. This is a question I've been wondering for a while: how strong Disorder was before Sargeras? To me it seems that before forming of Burning Legion it was by far the weakest of the six forces. They seemed to have large numbers and their respawning made the issue even worse but what could they really do against any other forces? Order has Titans, Life has at least Elune who's strong enough to power mortal beings to the point where they can destroy an Old God infestation alone. Void is pretty much self-evident, as is Death. Even Light has some incredible feats. Remember AU orc recruitment scenario? Naarus were basically used as orbital nukes. I cannot imagine being that got rekt by orc in roid rage and then by the same orc even without that roid rage could survive that. All the other 5 forces also have some kind of leadership and planning. Closest Disorder comes to that is with Dreadlords, beings of Death as we know now. And while it would be fitting that force called Disorder lacks any organization, I have to wonder if we truly have seen their strongest forces yet. If Blizzard ever needs a new villain, here's a question they could ask themselves: what if Mannoroth wasn't the strongest demon? What if there was a being even Sargeras wasn't aware of? A being who just like Denathrius was playing its own 4D chess and seeing that Sargeras could lead the cosmic force into victory just decided to sit back and let him do all the work. Or alternatively, since time works differently in Twisting Nether and few decades can be thousand years, maybe even much more and all timelines are united and scrambled, what if being like that is born while we're gone? I know 4th demon expansion would piss of significant amount of people but personally I'd like to see the cosmic force being represented by something a bit more menacing than what is basically a punching bag race. Because that's what Pit Lords are. They are said to be strong but that is only mentioned when something way stronger destroys them.

I think disorder is the weakest forces out there but probably the reason why many mortal seeks fel as a source of power is because fel is the most chaotic and destructive forces

Not necessarily, there were plenty of one off demon beasts that were stronger than them (like that conglomeration we saw that killed Tyrion in the broken shore). And even discounting that there could be tons of demons we aren't aware off. I mean Antaen's weren't even general knowledge until the invasion of Argus and they were very powerful in their own right, some atleast as strong if not stronger than Pit Lords. And for that matter are we not counting demonic constructs like there Reavers and other demonic machinery? As those would definitely even the odds in any fight. And even discounting all that there are still plenty of current demons that could probably hold their own against a pitlord. As some Fel Lords are pretty strong and being higher in the hierachy doesn't necessarily make you stronger. As Nathrezim were higher ranked than Doomguard but they were arguably stronger than the average Nathrezim. And this is not even taken into account any other demons or demonic beasts we are not aware off. So no I wouldn't say they are necessarily the weakest cosmic force. But they are arguably the one that brought on the most new recruits from the other factions. And again technically things like Man'ari eredar are still demons as the lore basically kinda describes even "true" demons as just races that evolved in the twisting nether and were influenced by its energies. Still counts as a demon if they became one at a later time. Like the Eredar.

i just noticed that blizz retconned the lore here, from what akama said the draenei fought the orcs for generations. wod showed us that until a certain point they never really interacted unless they had to. and yeah you can say 'it is an alternate reality' but we have confirmation that it is a version of the main timeline where the splinter event is garrosh going back in time.

Yeah, originally Draenei were actually natives and didn't come from Argus. TBC did some MAJOR retcons on the Draenei from Warcraft 3.

I was so baffled that they didn't bring Magtheridon back in Legion. Same with Mal'ganis. It makes sense with Mal'ganis now with the new lore, but I wonder why Magtheridon didn't come back. Maybe we'll see some updated Pit Lord lore? Like they're actually agents of the Void or something lol

I could be wrong but is it because Outland was dragged into the twisting nether? Demons can’t return if killed on that plane. Again, I could be wrong because we might have seen other demons we killed on Outland in legion but I don’t remember who

@@aramere3650 - That's what they said at first about Outland and the Twisting Nether, but they changed their minds. Demons killed there still re-spawn in the Twisting Nether.

@Andrew Hoskins They actually brought Mal'ganis back to Azeroth on the Broken Shore, but then we neither heard nor saw anything from him and now he's suddenly in the Shadowlands years later. :D

They did bring him back in a sense in the novel. Illidan absorbed his demonic essence the same way demon hunters absorb lesser demons to gain their demonic powers.

out of curiosity can you do a video explaining why outland suddenly finds itself in the twisting nether? did the nether just expand or was outland moved during the event that caused the planet to shatter? the reason i ask is that draenor has a sky box along the lines of azeroth, one filled with stars. outland on the other hand has the typical vaper waves in the sky typically associated with the nether.

When Ner'Zhul opened several Dark Portals, which are pathways through the Twisting Nether, all at once on Draenor, the world itself got dragged into the currents of the Nether. That's what happened, sort of.

Outland wouldn't have to move, since the Twisting Nether is an alternate dimension which can "bleed through" to reality in certain circumstances. This is what happened to Outland, which is not actually IN the Twisting Nether (though the writers couldn't make their minds up about that for a while so it's a common misunderstanding). There isn't really that much else to say, since everything is kept very vague. Just about everything about the Twisting Nether ends up making little to no sense, in the end.

Soooo, in Hearthstone there are more than just Blood Elf and Night Elf Demon Hunters. Including an Orc one, interesting. I want Orc DH to be a thing in WoW now lol.

Wow. I know Magatherion as the pit lord that has the blood. The orcs drink the blood to get powerful and currupted. It is interesting that this pit lord has a whole character and story behind him. It is amusing for Nobbel to him a slurpie machiene and vending machiene. Yeah pit lords are very powerful and evil. It is something without redeamable qualities. I wonder if player warlocks will ever be capable of summoning pit lords to do thier bidding. As least the demonology ones should get this. That would be awesome.

As a warlock main I gotta say that I love all your videos about demons, but you shouldn't describe them in a negative way. They aren't evil, they are just chaotic by nature. Chaos can be destructive.

Demons were interesting. I've no idea what we're fighting against in shadowlands. Nothing feels like a threat.

I thought Magtheridon was in Legion. The first boss in Tomb of Sargeras Goroth.

Don't recall alternate Magtheridon showing up/doing something, did I forget? That universe took us to the first opening of the dark portal. MU Magtheridon didn't show up until Ner'zhul did his portal thing which was the second opening of the dark portal.

@@Joe_Potts - Also it was Grommash and not Durotan, but that would be an awesome visual. :D Yeah, people confuse Mannoroth and Magtheridon all the time (the similar names do not help), and I can't really blame them since in WoW they're both big Pit Lords associated with Hellfire Citadel... In Warcraft 3, the easy way to look at it is one is in Reign of Chaos and one is in The Frozen Throne expansion - different storylines.
