The issue with Assange (vs Snowden,) is that he exposed some names that ought have been kept secret, endangered their lives! Snowden was careful not to do that! In terms of the real facts about the US wars in other countries, we all need to know such facts! US cannot act superior about the human rights when it routinely kills innocent people in the foreign countries, and it does other shady , questionable stuff! War Criminals cannot be rewarded, and need to be punished ! Ought he be in prison? I honestly do not know! I need more info! I know that Snowden does not deserve neither persecution nor prison ! He should be allowed to come home with his family ! I frankly dislike and abhor it when our Govts hide true facts from us, commit the war crimes, interfere in other Sovereign countries , overthrow legit govts, etc!

Other than diplomatic immunity, why would you think Assange would be exempt? You could have made the attempt to fact check, but all you're doing is demonstrating that you didn't know the US, Russia, China, and Iran have domestic crimes against foreign spying.

Julian Assage is a hero who brought light to the crimes committed by one of the most powerful countries on earth... It's not about being "anti-american" but simply being against the more powerful countries, who have a tendency to only fuel their own interests at behalf of other people, while at the same time undermining any sort of claim against them. This is not unique to America, though I'd say they are certainly the ones who've done the most in that regard: but it also extends to countries like China, the UK, France, Russia (USSR too), Japan. It can either be on behalf of people outside of their borders which usually is through war or through economic exploitation or if it's within their borders, most of the time its either the poor or a people group who've been disenfranchised, or even both. TLDR: you have to remember that most of the time there isnt really a "good side" since they really only care about their own losses or intersts.

I feel like this is what some people mean when they say we actually don’t have freedom of speech here in America anymore Trying to escape arrests from the government after exposing their lies is something you’d here about China, Russia, or North Korea doing

Australia needs to get involved in freeing him, letting him come home. Isn't it a crime against humanity the treatment he's endured? If so awful, go after Chelsea Manning. Why not? But this HAPPENED. It's like 'we can do whatever we want'.
