The Story of International Law in Pakistan. | Ahmer Bilal Soofi | TEDxPIEAS

Ahmer Bilal Soofi talks about the lack of awareness and implementation of international law in Pakistan. His narrative leads us from him making a career choice, to the development and progress of Research Society of International Law. He also talks about the importance of treaties and resolutions that we, as a nation, have to sign with other countries in order to function properly on a global scale. In a country which seems, like many others, to be caught up in its own issues, Mr. Soofi has taken a stand to promote the importance of honoring international law. Ahmer Bilal Soofi has done far more than can be mentioned in such a short introduction. In a country which seems, like many others, to be caught up in its own issues, Mr. Soofi has taken a stand to promote the importance of honoring International Law. Having done his LLM from the University of Cambridge, he went on to do great things, some of which are: being an Advocate of the Supreme Court, representing Pakistan at international courts, and serving as a federal minister during a caretaker government. He was an elected Member Advisory Council for UNHRC. He has advised the government of Pakistan on many legal and human rights issues, and is often looked to for comment on various issues by the media. As an expert, he has been a lecturer and professor of International Law at various institutes. He is the president of WWF Pakistan and also a member of multiple think-tanks, one of which (Research Society of International Law) he is the presiding founder of. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
