So I guess all this has happened in a matter of weeks or maybe months. I was under the impression our character was hundreds of years old and had been hidden in the tomb unconscious until he got dug up. Now I have to wonder how he got moved half way around the world while he was unconscious. I’m kinda disappointed by that really. Anyhow didn’t answer many questions I have but did answer a lot, good video.

In Valencia questline we also get some cool info. At the beggining when dark stones appeared on the planet (not sure if it was like a meteorite or something) the black spirits would corrupt many beings and make them go crazy not being able to control their power, except one person that was able to subdue it and control it (forgot his name). We as the player are supposed to be the descendant of that man and our black spirit is that guy's black spirit from those old days, that reunites with us again (thats why in the beggining of the game cutscene when we first encounter black spirit he says "Is this really you?" -> he recognizes us). We get that info by that guy in the middle of the desert. He is some weird race that is all about this ancients and stuff (forgot his name also). +When we get the spear key for the thing beneath the castle ruins, some ancient being gives some of that info also. Also makes sense cuz in begining cutscene Illezra also mentions that we are the key.. i guess because of us being descendant of that OP guy. I guess Illezra used us to get to that artifact to consume power of all the black spirits there to get stronger. All except our most OP black spirit, who stayed with us to make us OP hehe. Sorry just finished that quest today and it was super exciting, but now i feel kinda lost not knowing where to continue, just got some random treasure hunt quest which i feel is just something to waste your time on while they make new expansions of the main story. Please correct me if im wrong, im really eager to find out more about what happens next! Thans for the video!

Yes, I think you're right. The person the player is decendant of is Edana the Ancient. He was part of an ancient race that wasn't human. He became immortal but somehow died then came to life again. He did end up dying permanently at some point. Edana was strong and because of him, people learned how to use the black stones and harness the black spirit to some extent. As a result he was worshipped as some great hero or god too. I guess no one was able to use the black spirit like he was until the player (his descendent).

This video turned out excellent Dottz! You did a great job explaining the Illezra lore. Really fleshes out a central character and integral part of our play in the game. Thanks for all your effort and hard work. Wishing you all the success with this and all your work!

How long was our character laying in the tomb before Edan and his people found us?

It is a first time I came across BDO lore video. Even though I followed some of MSQ, the story did not grabbed me and I dropped the game... This video sparked my interest for BDO again. I will look forward for more.

i think Illezra goal is not to bring Hadum...during the Atoraxxion questline..she want to get her hands on the 100000 Ators(the giant we see during the opening of the game and she want 100000 of that lol) so she can invade the black spirits main stronghold who came from space i think from another planet lol...she want to get into that stronghold for something we don't know of....i think we might get an idea about that during the fourth part of Atoraxxion dungeon which still not in the game yet...also she appeared to be quit angry when talking about the player causing Jordine getting his hands on some kind of Hadum power or something and tells the player that ppl are suffering because of that...that why i think her goal is not to bring hadum....

This really good, i habr not creayed new toons yet so I've never tried the new Balenos questline.. Its like watching the awakening storyline i stead of reading it. Yep she was taken in by Ahon Kirus, it was mentioned in some BDO toon's awakening. We are the descendant of Edana, we are the key.

@@dottzgaming right, a lot of this is new lore recently added, they have changed the start of the game 3 times since i started playing in 2017. Most of what we have is recent additions, also I think the Magnus has some good hints at what's going on, it references the battle royal spinoff Shadow Arena heavily as the Jordine we meet in the magnus is the same Jordine we could play as in Shadow Arena, and implies the world we know of BDO may not be the true world.

Kzarka was originally the god of hope -- that's why he's opposite to the god of despair. He was the god of hope as he realised the desires of his follower. Or maybe, it's because he was fulfilling the desires of his follower that was then named "god of hope"; that is unclear. That may seem fantastic, and for some time it was. As his followers adored him beyond any other god, he grew more powerful; and with more power, he became able to fulfil more and more desires. The more desires he fulfilled, the more his followers revered him, the more power he got... until, he realised EACH AND EVERY desire. Now, some desires are better left unfulfilled: have you ever desired, just for a fraction of an instant, to smash the face of that guy that wasn't completely kind when serving you the coffee? Imagine a god so powerful that will do that for you. Imagine the power you'd feel if you had a god fulfilling every desire of yours on your side. And that's not all. There weren't just "bad desires" in the picture; the real problem arose when people started having contradictory desires. Imagine two man wishing for the same woman to become their wife. Now the trouble begins, when reality itself breaks down because of a god bringing into existence paradoxical situations. At that point, Kzarka was indeed the god of chaos, as chaos was generated by unwittingly impossible desires coming into existence. And through that, with people plunging into chaos by having each and every desire of them being realised, Kzarka became the god of corruption. There was no low for his follower they wouldn't go in order to have their desired fulfilled, no thing that they wouldn't do, and since reality wasn't making sense anymore, not without Kzarka shaping a paradoxical existence for them to inhabit, they reached the ultimate corruption. Worse that the worst addict, their soul was bent into submission and total corruption, just to have one more desire come true. In short, beware what you wish for: you may just get it. This made clear in the Star End / O'Dillita storyline. ---- Illezra is not evil. No one in the BDO storyline is, and no one is good either. She wants to cast the world in darkness because that's the only way to cast away the shadows. Kzarka was associated with light (it's somewhere referred as "the bringer of light" -- remember anything?), and a sect of the Elionists (the cult of the Sun god in Calpheon), the "Fraternity of light" are actually flirting with Kzarkian cults. Of course, plunging the world in darkness may not be the best way to stop a blinding light to burn everyone's eyes, just like Thanos snap is probably not the best way to go about overpopulation -- but the evil she's fighting is real.

Thanks for making this. I am one of the R spammers, because I just want to take my new character and go kill stuff. I kind of feel bad because I skip so much of the story and never give it a fair shake.

something I noticed while playing is that Illezra will appear from time to time as you are walking around some towns. She would be watching you and if you follow her she just disappears

I don't understand what the Sage character was doing entangling with her just like every other class. I thought the Sage should have started in the ancient days before Edana.

Just stumbled across this. I always forget if you look into it BDO actually has some crazy deep Ragnarok level type of lore. What’s really weird about Illezra to me…is she really all that evil? Or is the evil stuff a b product of her ambitions

BDO needs more instanced PVP-s, Guild vs Guild (8 vs 8), Team Arenas 4 vs 4, Random Arenas 4 vs 4, 12 vs 12 (3 groups of 4, cap shrines with pve npcs to kill, and pvp) equal gear in PVP, _unique titles_ , this pvp should give unique emotes to the ranks, the ppl will look to rise ranks and obtain titles, recive unique rewards, the guilds should recive Guild Cape, gold cape, silver, bronze...
