I used to work for a Commodore Dealer from 1979~1992 (We sold other computers too) I heard that thousands of unsold Commodore B128 aka P500 machines ended up in landfill, I'd love to know where and dig some up!

There is a video documentary about them putting loads of Lisa computers in landfill is that the video you mean I seen it a few times I’ll see if I can find it again upload to my channel

@@lonesuk Yes, I think they smashed them up, before burying them. I saw the documentary. There was a chap who bought Apple's remaining unsold inventory and accessories. The commodore story is not so well documented. I am not sure if Commodore sold of their unsold inventory. And I think things were done differently in USA / UK / Europe. With IBM, thousands of PC Jnr's went into landfill.

I had the 64, 1000, and Amiga 2000. Man my 2000 was so much better than reguler "PC" at the time. Gaming, sound, video production, music production etc. Commodore Amiga WAS PC Master Race of its time.

xmas of 1989 was my first ever computer a c64 the white one! great memories from my parents that are no longer with me bought that for me.

still have my amiga 1200 with a good game collection on disk i transfered them all to ADF that took a long time now using a gotec drive

Mehdi Ali may have very well helped Irving run the joint in the ground but of course I often myself wonder why they would do something so mysterious is to destroy a billion dollar company but a company nonetheless... It's like today if you look around and of course the concept came out last decade and that was the retail apocalypse of course they wanted to blame shopping on the internet for all of their troubles over at brick and mortar retail... But honestly that's never been their problem especially because they all have had a website for 22 plus years if not 24 plus years they are in fact e-commerce, but of course the similarities of destroying companies for no good reason or seemingly no good reason commodore does come to mind however I tend to think of other businesses particularly retailers if you look at the balance sheets of most retailers that have had problems specifically within the past decade you'll find that they all became over leveraged with debt in and around 2005 and beyond of course yes most of those companies are still there such as JCPenney interestingly enough they too seemingly have taken on a lot of debt for apparently no reason starting in 2005 the debt that they've taken on since particularly that of last decade was merely to keep them afloat but why did they start taking on mass amounts of debt before they ever had a real reason to because they certainly didn't use that money for reinvestment??? Well I often tell people on the subject that it's as if the executives know something that the rest of us don't... And I will say that even a guy like Irving who could probably never run a computer, he still has people who report to him what the market is what the market may be what the market could be there is consulting firms out there that do that particular research and that's all they do and you have to pay them millions of dollars for them to tell you what the future is or to give you their concoction of what the future is. We know that Irving didn't particularly care to spend any money in terms of reinvesting into the businesses we know that he like to extract money but we also know that he had to have been aware that they were rehashing their products time and time again if he didn't then, Mehdi Ali certainly did. Yes I'm going to say something that's going to be somewhat of an accusation or at least you can easily take it as an accusation... I believe the Commodores Hay Day was basically over they didn't get behind the Amiga like they should if they did but they didn't we know this but we also know that there was outside forces that was beyond commodore's control one of which was the Microsoft platform and what the Microsoft platform did was open the door to the computer becoming yet another communication device via the Internet... So I think basically Irving stuck Mehdi Ali, in charge of commodore to not just oversee day to day normal business relations but to help generate a facade of day-to-day normal business relations meanwhile behind the scenes Irving is taken everything out the back door that he possibly can and Mehdi Ali was there to help him do it! I don't think that Mehdi Ali ruined commodore on his app I think that he had directives I think he greatly benefited in The spoils of destroying that company yes but I think Irving wanted it destroyed it became too much of a liability if you actually stop and think about it by the time 93 came it was a liability particularly one of its facilities was already in massive trouble with the EPA and had been in trouble with EPA since the 1970s! I'm not given either of those people a pass for what they've done however I also wonder what did they hear was there another group of engineers that they spoke with Irving traveled the world we know that who knows who he talked to and why he would have talked to them but maybe there was a loose ended conversation that took place that said you know that Bill Gates guy is going to rise up and kick everyone's ass in fact by 199 0 alone that was already more than in the works and it was already more than showing that that was going to be the decade of Microsoft's rise and all of the generic computers that go with it! So basically I'm saying that it really sucks that those guys used the company for all it was worth and basically bled it dry, but I honestly wonder what the hell was left for them to actually do by the time you get to the '90s I mean what were they just going to become another cheap compaq computer where they just going to become another Dell? I think that Irving knew a lot more than what was led on and I think there again the liability that the company had become was far too great this is a guy that would not spend any more than a few hours within any City whether it was the US or Canada to avoid taxes okay he might be granted one night to spend some place and that was it he was up and out the door the next day to avoid the taxes he could board it afford the taxes but he didn't want to give anybody one dime! In business types like him people that high up of his caliber they tend to know things they tend to know people that know things and sometimes they do get bad information but regardless they've made their money they don't care companies are disposable items too those folks most of the people around them tend to be rather disposable and interestingly enough a lot of those people they kind of don't care that they're disposable a lot of people are more than aware that they're disposable but they look at whatever severance package they can get they look at basically the dollar amount of everything and that's pretty much how they value themselves so they really do not care what someone else thinks of them, there's a lot of shallowness that goes on! So basically I'm accusing did somewhere in the late eighties pick a number maybe it was 1986 maybe it was 87 could have been 88 Irving and the then president of commodore knew that the days of that company were numbered they knew that even if they were to dump several tons of money into it that it's Glory Days had passed that the business is changing and it's headed towards that killer app not the hardware the hardware honestly needs to be capable sure but something like the Amiga is far too expensive for the average home user and then the internet is supposed to be the big deal on the horizon I believe that this is the information they were told or they recluded and they use this as a license to just siphon money out of the company they had no desire to continue in that industry it was too costly! In other words I'm saying they both bankrupted it on purpose because by the time it did end it really didn't mean half of what it used to me proprietary computers were out the door there was no way those computers could have fit into the 90s and sold in massive numbers it just wasn't in the cards and I think they knew it and I think they may have seen that coming somewhere in the late 80s and I'm not saying that either of them is a genius there again they probably either had to pay people to hear this or Irving picked up a tip over a couple of luncheons somewhere!

I agree with your observation... However, using subtitles gets around any shitty audio mix... Let's say you're in a noisy environment, or maybe you're snacking on something crunchy, like chips or doritos... you will never miss any dialogue when the subs are on. And if subs are not your thing because you feel like you're paying more attention to them than the video itself... That might be true at first, but you will get past that, and will have no difficulty paying full attention while _quickly_ scanning over the subtitles. I have gotten so used to them, that I can barely watch a video without them now. Another benefit...when you read the names of people and things, you remember them way more easily versus hearing them.
