Such a peaceful area..I think I would end up running thru that dark area in the tunnel..someone could be hiding in that dark, 😳😱.lol..No way would I do that by myself..lol.but it is so serene. The quietness is appropriate for the history of it.Thanks for another beautiful vlog👍🏻

Many families would have moved their loved one's graves had they not been promised there would be a road to the cemeteries. Many graves were relocated to Lauada Cemetery which is five miles west of Bryson City. Most of those were down nearer the river and would have been covered by water. But those above the flood level of Fontana Lakes were not moved on the promise by the Federal Government to build that road. The environmental movement's influence overruled that promise and the Government reneged. The $52,000,000 didn't cover the hurt that was done to those people, my people. What about those who wanted to be buried their loved ones when they died. How much of that money covered that hurt? What about the old people who are in wheelchairs having to cross the water and find their way up steep trails to visit their parents graves? What about their pain? Swain County didn't get the $52,000,000! It went to the great State of North Carolina to dole out to the County as they see fit. And the county only adds it to their coffers to spend as they see fit. None of it is being spent to help those who were hurt and who are still hurting. It is a beautiful place but it is a haunted. Haunted by the lonely souls of people whose homes and whose graves were given back to the wilderness. Kinda leaves an ugly stain on all that beauty doesn't it?

There is a tunnel in Ohio you need to come and visit .Moonville Tunnel, just a lot of history, and it is said that it is haunted. If you make it here there is a state park close by , Lake Hope. I loved this adventure and the history that it has !!

I grew up in Swain County. No one will believe the US government for generations. Many of the people who were forced to give up their land were never paid. They lost lands, homes, literally almost every thing. They trusted the government and due to the World War going on, were very Patriotic. The park land and lake land were sometimes condemned so as to steal from people who were too poor to fight back. A truly sad time

I don't see why they didn't continue making the road, there have been other times other things that things like that happened. And they just clear it up and continued, and now that they can finish it. I don't get why they don't finish it, seems someone needs to bring it up in city hall or the governor to finish it.
