72 years old, Flabergasted by a question - "Am I always going to hate my body?" Since it's not in the ground yet, I have time to make that answer be "No, I choose to love it." Also, I have Dissociative Identity Disorder - a survival skill. I have alter personalities who are non or preverbal. I rarely express emotions - I can tell about what I'm feeling, but not allow the direct expression of them. I am thrilled to find out a way to do it through movement.

Misty, I too am older, but I watched you for about 7 years when I coul'nt sleep after midnight. You inspired me to have fun with music and dance. I have not worried what I look like when dancing and groove with movements to suit mel Preparing myself for 80 over the next 9 years, why not dance in my bedroom. Thank you so much.

I am a big girl...I have lymphedema in my legs and a really bad knee. I struggle to do the other workouts that demand so much attention to knees and legs. This allows me to move the way I want to and can. I feel so free doing the workouts with Body Groove. I get up at 5 am grumble the entire time until I put on Body Groove and start to move. My husband looks at me like I am weird but I feel so good afterwards. I want to keep doing it. I am glad I am able to work out at different levels as when my knee starts to really hurt, I sit and do it. Thank you Misty for this. I am down 15 lbs as of this morning. A long way to go, but with Body Groove, I know I will make it. Maybe just maybe this old gal will become a Body Groove instructor and get the ladies in my area getting their groove on!

Sittin here with tears flowing. Your words hit me like a semi truck. I don't think I have ever been "kind" to myself. Have struggled with eating disorders most of my life. I can hate myself so much more naturally, then love myself. Even typing that feels odd to love myself. I can't change my past and what lead me to hate myself and feel worthless. But, maybe I can start to accept myself with baby steps and listening to your powerful words of life, and body groove down to a better self. Thank you for this.

I am feeling the same way listening to her story. I have been overweight all of life, have tried everything. I have never been kind to myself either. I started watching the videos and have tried some of the moves. I am going to buy the dvd's but still do the you tube videos for now. Thank you Misty for being real and letting me start healing!!!!

I cannot start this comment another way: I LOVE YOU! I always loved dancing, since I was very young. For the last 10 years, I lost the connection with myself, gained weight, lost my coordination and then one day, the Universe brought you to my computer screen. I started dancing again and I don't have enough words to explain how liberating it is and how happy it makes me feel! You are an inspiration! Thank you for serving the highest good, by opening to the Universe calling, to live your mission and touch people's lives. It was a summer evening, I was watching the sunset from the park, with a beautiful lake in front of me and lush grass under my barefoot feet. I played one of Body Groove's songs (because of one of your promo videos: "Maya Johanna - Born To Become") and I danced! I danced barefoot on the lush grass at the sunset! It was reinvigorating! You make this world a better place, and I am thankful for you! #dancelikenobodyiswatching #peopleservingthehighestgood #liveyourmission

Misty, I'm 136kgs and super unfit and almost at the point of not wanting to be on this planet any longer. I can relate to feeling disgusted about your body. After watching you talk, you have given me hope that it is not hopeless for me and I might just be worth trying this as I used to love dancing around. Thank you for giving me hope in my darkest moment.

I just signed up.. kept seeing the ads and I'm older - 57 and suffered with arthritis and have been heavy all my life and after watching the ads and knowing I can do it sitting on my bed to start and work up to it so I can eventually do 30 minutes .. and incorporate it into using other videos I have and use.. instead of jumping n stuff and making up my own moves. Thank you Misty!

I used to weigh around 360 lbs, worked hard to get down to 160lbs, and then a tumour took my ankle out (PVNS) and my routines, so I put 40 back on, 30 left to work off again now. I had the tumour removed and had a synovectomy of the ankle done. I am now doing physio for my ankle and I really like that I am able use your little one song videos in my new lifestyle routines. Love your courage to share your story on Bulimia, I understand the challenges of mental illness/disorders. You are truly a blessing and a bright light for those who struggle with ED's and related thoughts.

I was sitting on a beach at 8 am, in Mexico yesterday. I was noticing women passing by and gathering under a group of palm trees. I asked one woman as she passed what they were all doing. She said, “We’re here to dance! Join us!” So, I did and it was an amazing experience and I was so thankful for the invitation. I’ve been on a long healing journey and ballroom dance has been a big part of it. Ecstatic dance or individual groove dancing was missing from my life. I spent my plane ride home thinking about how to introduce more of this to my own community. Thank you for your energy!

I just discovered this. At first, like most people when I watched a routine I thought to myself, "Huh, that's odd." And then the more I watched it, the more I "got it." And then I tried it and then I loved it!! And then, I was like, "this is the greatest thing ever!!" When I tried it out, I did several routines on youtube...I just kept doing the next one and the next one and before I knew it, 30 minutes were past! Usually when I....no, every time... when I workout I am constantly watching the clock...is it over? Is it over? how much time left? I had a difficult pregnancy and went through SPD (symphasis pubic dysfunction) when I was pregnant which means the ligaments between my pubic bone stretched way too much, way too early causing excruciating pain...the best my dr could compare it to was severe arthritis. I had to have physical therapy after my son was born and basically, my body has never been the same... I have to be careful with my joints in my whole pubic, hip area...It was so bad, that I won't put my body through pregnancy anymore. One and done. My son is 4 now and he is the apple of my eye, totally worth it but still, won't do it again! ha! Anyway, I say all of this because prior to pregnancy I was doing all of these crazy intense workouts (90 day programs hint hint) and I thought I had to kill myself to get in shape. Then along came my son and all of the complications with my body and I remember saying to my mom, "I don't care if I don't lose one oz of pregnancy weight as long as I can walk and be pain free." Perspective. So I absolutely ADORE this "exercise".

You are a GODSEND to us with 2 left feet! I love NOT following you. Seeing all your dancers moving in all different ways all around the room. You are a genius! DON'T COPY ME! WHO SAYS THAT in the fitness industry?!?!? Misty you are AWESOME! Sharing your story is BRAVE and I applaud you for loving your body! Keep sharing your truth and your wonderfulness! Much Love!

There isn't a place here for Groove Movement and I would love to do one here but you don't have a class/training close other than Chicago would be the closest but we don't ever go to Chicago. Music and dance as always been my outlet for life issues and mental stability. I have gone through more in the last 5 years and health issues have arisen and now I'm turning back to music and dance. Your videos and attitude are inspiring in so many different ways and I thank you.

Like another reviewer. I too am in tears. I have always loved dancing but never pursued it as I felt very inhibited. You know, just awkward and clumsy. I was once told I was like dragging around a ton of bricks! That crushed me and has stayed with me my entire life. Married now 46 years ( yes, to the same man that made that comment some 30 years ago), I still have the music in me, but only in my mind. When I watch ANY dance competition or see others on the floor who look like their bodies move so eloquently and flawless, I tear up. I have always felt a connection to dancing. Any form of it makes me happy beyond words. At the age of 67, I watch all the videos and try so hard to learn steps to a variety of different genre's, praying I could get just one of them. Some I master, but most I didn't. This has kept me from attending local dances, as I want so much to be one of the "good dancers", and not have people laughing at me tripping up. Why do I care so much at my age? (Much introspection needed here.!) I found "Groove", totally by chance, ( though my spirituality, tells me nothing is by chance). I was home alone and ran the first you tube video I found and cried through every weird giration I formed my overweight body into! Happy tears would be an understatement. I did not even stop when my husband entered the room. Just had my eyes closed and kept moving. What a feeling! I have found my connection once again, but this time I can actually be "me", and laugh and dance and just MOVE to the rhythm without care. Admittedly I probably held back a little, but I truly feel doing this daily I will become more and more relaxed to just let go. I am in awe of this gift and so grateful for finding it. Thank you for creating it and sharing your story. I now know I will be dancing forever, if only in my living room, and possibly get slimmer in the process now that I am only focused on the music and movement. You have indeed brought a gift to folks like me.

Sherry, keep dancing and enjoying your body! Is there a groove class near you? I'm going to my first one on Friday! Like you, I thought my dancing wasnt good and felt self conscious, but our life force, our power, is to be felt and enjoyed while we are alive. Only in the west could dance become a competition! Tribal peoples have danced and drummed for years. Ps Google benefits of drumming - I was shocked! Again, something I thought I wasnt good at, but I do it at home as sound therapy. Good luck, live from England 😊

Misty, just recently I FINALLY got the umph to want to walk more, which I did very little of, want to exercise, eat better, and take better care of myself! I do my walks in the evening when it’s cooler (and snakes are less likely to be out where I live)! When I saw a one of your videos, I was like, I can do that at a low impact for now! Well, I’ve been watching and following a video a day now and I actually WANT TO do the dance every day now! You and your videos are so inspiring and the music is so upbeat and makes me WANT to dance and move around now! I’m a believer in things happen for a reason and I truly believe I want meant to see one of your videos! I LOVE the fact that we DON’T have to follow your exact move but you inspire us to do our own moves and ENJOY what we’re doing! I too love to dance so I truly do enjoy your videos! I thank you for sharing your talent and GROOVES with us! I even posted on my Fb. wall just how much I enjoy your videos and highly recommended others’ to try them out too!! So keep up the AWESOME work and again...thank you!!! 🙂❤️

I was burned out with exercising and still needed to get my body where I believe it should be. You are amazing! I found you once I joined a weight loss program called Your Way Weight Loss. It changed my life. To be able to live life to its fullest and take on a weight loss journey MY WAY was everything. Completely changed my relationship with food, especially *bad food*. Now I enjoy every type of food that fills my happiness bucket. I started looking for a way to move my body more without heading to the gym. I love dancing, but I have never been coordinated. So I found some dance workout videos that were fun but always left me unsatisfied with myself for not being able to follow the steps. And then about 2 months ago, I found you. Omg! Life changing. I cannot even tell you how much I enjoy Body Groove. You are absolutely amazing. You along with YWWL, my life could not be any better. Your message, your motto, your way aligns so perfectly with YWWL that it is almost like a match made in heaven! Your way weight loss and your way dance workout. Doesn't get any more perfect. Thank you so much for allowing me to express myself without feeling like a failure through dance. I now even sometimes dance around the house without your videos and think, what type of movement would Misty suggest here, and there? So much fun! I am recommending you to people all the time! Thank you.

I watched your video from start to finish and I found myself in tears as you made me think about my self and what I am doing to my body, I have always loved to dance but now that I am so over weight I find doing it in public is embarrassing and so watching your video showed me that I can do what I love in my house. Thank you for sharing your happiness and keep it going. I also make myself sick after having a meal because I hate that stuffed feeling. I know I need help and I will be seeking help but also I am going to follow you even more now. Peace and Love from me to you and thank you for sharing. God bless you and keep you safe xxx xxx

I just found you and I am so thankful for you. My 8 yr old daughter and I do this together. We are both very uncoordinated (and I have vertigo issues). I am a big girl but I am pretty ok with my body (how it looks) but I hate that I will never be graceful or be able to go to a gym. I have not been able to do anything other than machine workouts, for fear of my vertigo springing up and making me feel like a fool. Now, in my own living room, I can move, feel free to do so, and sit down as soon as I feel unsteady. Thank you again, so very much!

Misty, your energy is contagious!! I have always been chunky as a child, a teen and into my early 20’s and while I was never a dancer when I discovered night clubs (early 1990’s) I danced in those clubs with my friends 3-4 days per week. I lost tons of weight. Then I met hubby #1 and as you can surmise it turned into a for better or worse but not forever type of marriage. I went into a deep depression, and fast forward 14 years I’m older, so out of shape that I want to cry some days. Then one day I saw your video and was like ok, I think I can do this. It’s dance, it’s mellow and I’m moving my body. So I ordered a set. Waiting for it and I found your channel so I know I’m armed for battle of the bulge...lol. But what touched me was this video where you went vulnerable and actually acknowledged you were in a battle with your body. So glad to hear in your own way you were able to turn things around and work in sync with your body aka your physical consciousness. Much love and thanks for all you do.

You are brilliant in your technique. I'm 61 years old and have had many joints replaced. As I sit here in pain every day I think to myself I can sit here and be in pain or I can dance and forget about the pain. So I will start dancing with your videos and I'm sure my life will change. Thank you so much for bringing this easy to do dance style to the world.

YOU ARE TRULY AN AMAZING WOMAN! I have watched and listened to your story and I can certainly relate to what you have gone through. Although I am not a professional dancer, I am the opposite; I would eat until I would get so full and make myself sick, to the point I felt like I was going to throw up. I am an emotional eater and all my life my weight has always fluctuated and it never stayed consistent until after my divorce 19 years ago, through strict dieting and exercise for 9 years. Sadly, 5 years ago I have slowly gained it all back due to depression, just lost my motivation, my self worth and self esteem. For the past month,I had to dig deep within myself and find out why I keep going through these phases and why I am always so sad. I pulled up a lot of pictures from my past and have attributed a lot of my depression through really bad relationships with men. Moving forward, I came across your videos on Facebook and found you on here as well. The first thing I do is pull up your video and follow along for my cardio warm up , then after that I do my light weight training; I have to tell you, I love it and YOU have inspired me with your story and have given me the best gift ever. You are a BEAUTIFUL SOUL! Keep inspiring others, stay blessed.

Nice to meet you and thank you for sharing your story. I have recently been seeing your info-mercials and loved the idea of your "workouts". I got curious and came here to see if I could get an idea of what was available and what the classes REALLY looked like. I am 58 and have fallen into the virtual work-from-home situation and I am VERY thankful that my firm has given us this opportunity but I'm JUST NOT MOVING!! I sit down at 8am and I don't get up from my desk until 7pm...I may get some coffee or potty break but that is is. My legs have started to swell and I can tell my blood just isn't moving through my body without a printer to get up for or a bus to run for or a meeting to run to. I am starting your program today and have promised myself and YOU, that I will get up from my desk twice a day to do a couple of quick workouts to get my blood flowing...LOVE that they can be as short at 6 mins or as long as you feel you need by stringing two or three of them together. Thank you so much for sharing and may you continue to be blessed in health and happiness!

Love the freedom in this movement. At first glance I be like, say what? Then after watching just one video I knew I was hooked. I roller skate, more precisely I dance skate, some artistic, figure and jam skate. I am gonna incorporate this liberty thought of moving the body with emotion not being intimidated by other mens judgement and move past their harsh eyes that can throw crippling darts to thwart my passion to skate even way beyond what I think is possible. Thank you for making this video. You have given nourishment to a seed that has been planted and laid below the soil for years now its time to grow and push through that soil, burst open those young leaves and keep nurturing to grow and to see its fruit.

I'm coordinated and I love to dance, but I want to be able to share it with those in my gym community who don't feel quite so confident in their ability to move and groove. I want the members who say they can't dance and won't dance unless they're drinking (!) to be able to let go! So, I am definitely coming to the training in Melbourne next year! I am soooo excited!!!
