Until 2007 the park and the railroad looked a whole lot different. Even the train had a different appearance and a different name. Here’s a look back from a video done by LineShaftRestorations showcasing the arena behind the scenes, special charter train on the last year it was named Larry B. Cochran in the last year before the park begin to change the very last year before the Texas cliffhanger ride was demolished and the original gates at the overflow insurance for replaced with conventional crossing signals this is when I first met the this is how I remember first meeting this train when I was a kid and became my second oldest friend in Steam locomotion second to the oldest Wrigley operated stunner gauge steam, locomotive known affectionately as Puffy which dates back to 1896, Making it one year older than the red train at six flags, which was built the following year in 1897 according to a friend Puffy owned and operated by the Grapevine Vintage Railroad is 80% completed and its restoration and will be returning to service in the near future but back to this video which was taken in December 2007 and sponsored by the North Texas chapter of the national railway historical society it shows how everything used to look before everything started to change little what was left at the scene. LBC has her original name again. The appearance of the first car on the front has been modified. The original gates have been since replaced by the conventional signals at the overflow entrance truthfully, the loud buzzard on the right side gate was loud and obnoxious so loud. In fact, it hurt my ears there for why they had to replace him with the current signals and both the splash town Ride (which was originally called splash down waterfalls before it was re-themed and repainted as Aquaman splashdown) and the Texas cliffhanger ride have been demolished. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iJasxKicn72-qdI.html

I have a few videos of the crossing at Boomtown Depot prior to the crossing gates that are in your video they originally had original wooden A-frame wishbone type gates. They were replaced by the current gates you see now due to age of the wood since the wood used in a frame gates is Pine. It doesn’t last forever and can get weak and rotten overtime. It’s historically noted that the majority of the signals at the railroad crossings are the distinctive WRRS double pole type gate mech signals which originally had actual real wooden A-frame wishbone type gates currently, now there are only three crossings that still have their original wishbone gates, the modern red and white painted gates, at the overflow entrance crossing located underneath the bobsled coaster, the Crossing only accessible to employees located next to the railroad Roundhouse and the Shockwave Crossing located next to the Shockwave roller coaster, and the oil derrick observation tower. I was very fortunate to capture the Boomtown crossing in the final years of them having their original wishbone gates. What’s even more interesting is that besides the two wig wag signals, they utilize probably the oldest crossing bell in the United States, the union switch and signal company model 15a teardrop bell, which as of 2017 are now over 100 years old all dating back to being built in 1917 the newer crossing at bugs, bunny, boom town, utilize modern WCH type gate, signals, and WCH, mechanical bells it’s interesting that the railroad has only one modern electronic crossing bell a WCH 0777 type, electronic, crossing bell at the overflow entrance crossing and not too long ago in Fort Worth, Texas to railroad crossings on the Fort Worth & Western Railroad had the last revenue teardrop crossing bells in service in the state of Texas both ones protected wishbone Blvd and Park Pl Ave in the late 1990s they were replaced with GS signals with GS type one electronic crossing bells which are still in service today. The feet of the old teardrop bells is unknown.

@@Southern_Plains_Railfan you are very welcome. It would’ve been cool if the Fort Worth and western Railroad recycled those old teardrop crossing bells for mistletoe Boulevard crossing and Parkplace Avenue crossing crossing
