The difference between this and the Intellivision Amico is some people have actually received the Steam Deck. But I'm sure world events and shortages are definitely making a difference here with Steam. Intellivision and Tommy can't make the same claim. My deck got pushed back to after Q3. Sucks!!

Oh, there's no comparrison. The Steam Deck is looking like a great product that will only get better. The Amico is increasingly looking like a pipe dream that will never see the light of day.

The funny thing in this case I don’t mind the wait. Hoping to see more games moved to verified and playable on Steam Deck. Edit to add: if it said after Q2 and then says Q3, that is not a bigger delay, 3 comes after 2.

Mine said Q2 initially, then said after Q2, then Q3. And yes, technically you are right, Q3 is after Q2 but what is happening in reality is that the dates are becoming later as time goes on. I’ve heard they are ramping up production, though, so hopefully things will start to move in the other direction. I wouldn’t be surprised to see orders slip to after Q3, then Q4 and even into 2023, though.

@@TNTITAN Its still the same system. Valve just clarified the delivery dates. They were able to more correctly estimates delivery times then just after Q2, cause that could mean Q3, Q4 or anytime in 2023 or 2024. The problem is that Valve started to produce Decks for consumers very late. They produced thousands of Decks that were sent to developer and you tubers which ate in to the consumer production. On the other hand the problem is also that reservation lines seem to be done by countries. I know I reserved the Steam Deck quite late on the release day (cause I didn't know about it) and I'm still Q2 while people that reserved before me are Q3 but come from a different country.

I mean valve did a queue system and it was first come first serve, already got mine since I pre-ordered within 5 minutes of pre-order launch, at least this way people are guaranteed a system eventually instead of the absolute shitshow it is to get a ps5 or series x

Pretty sure you just precisely described scalping. If you buy something at RRP and immediately flip it for a profit that’s scalping, whether you do it with one unit or a whole heap of them. The only reason these guys are limited to one unit is because Valve made it difficult to obtain more than that. I’m sure some still managed it, though.

It's a lot harder for scalpers to buy out Valve's stock, due to Valve essentially limiting it to one Deck per active steam account. So you'll likely get a few peeps reselling their device or selling the one they got via a smurf account they happened to have had on hand beforehand.

That's true. I think I said in the video that I thought Valve's method was better than other companies. The initial order proces was still a mess, though, as they clearly underestimated demand.

Sorry you been pushed back, but I have to say I prefer the way Valve is doing this compared to Sony or MS. I still can't get a PS5 or Xbox without playing scalper prices. Since Valve moved every back to this year I'm still Q2. Which starts in a few weeks.

Yes, I agree that valve’s way of doing things does seem to be better. It is a bit concerning that so many orders are slipping, though. I had my order in pretty quick and it could be a year from my initial order to finally receiving the product. I also have to wonder why the dates are slipping, given that Valve had complete control over orders and knew exactly how many they needed to produce to fulfil those orders.

@@JoeChip Simple, materials and chips suddenly being canceled due to not enough. Valve probably already set up the window for the supplies they need but suddenly, their supplier had to cancel their order because they simply dont have enough. Hell, its not just valve, the whole industry is getting hit by supply problem. Im sorry but this is something, a youtuber such as you should know by now. I like your video and take about how Steam deck wont be able to run every game but this one just, pure lazy and ill-informed.

That's what I expected, I also expected they would need to change a few things, but it looks like the hardware is solid, it's just the software and Linux operating system they need to sort out... It has potential to be massively popular if they can produce enough systems. I'm not looking to get one until next year or even year after, since I can't preorder where I am in Asia.

I actually think the Steam Deck is one of the most exciting things to happen in gaming in years. I hope Valve keeps making them in the coming years and that the software goes from strength to strength.

I'm Q2 around 10:40 am but some Q2 got push into Q1 so it'll be expected that there may be some back and forth on this as time goes on such as being pushed back or being pushed up because of cancelling orders etc. It's going about as smooth as one could hope for ig

I don’t know why you’re surprised. Valve hardware is always in high demand and short supply, initially anyways. Valve not being a hardware company means they don’t have the manufacturing capabilities to amass stock like the other consoles could. This is the only logical way to release it.

I’m not surprised. Quite the opposite. As I say in the video, I predicted this would be the case.

From what I remember hearing in one of the interviews with ign I believe it was one of the guys who worked on the Steam Deck said that as production goes they were hoping to have tens of thousands shipped by end of March and hundreds of thousands in April and then just recently Valve also came out with a statement saying that they wanted to have all the Q3 people done by end of September which is where I'm at as well so time will tell I'm still running on hopium and saying better late than never.

Hmm, reserved mine a few day after it was possible, because I wanted to get it in Q2. My reservation was for the 512 GB Version on July 19, 2021. It still says the purchase will be possible Q2 2022 for me. But I'm in the EU, so maybe that's a reason.

I actually ordered mine within the first couple of hours, which is one reason I'm so surprised to be getting it so late. It seems to keep slipping, while others who ordered later are still in quarter 2. Very odd.. As you say, though, it could be a regional thing.

I pre-ordered within the first hour of them going up and I'm still at Q2.

No. There are a whole boatload of games that are on Steam that have never appeared on other platforms. The PC gaming catalogue is huge.

Mine is coming tomorrow. I don't believe it's a money grab for scalpers anymore; at least not in the USA.

The silver lining is that right now, the software still needs work - both for the ui and the games. Dual booting isn't even supported yet. A delayed arrival will result in a smoother experience with some bugs fixed. My own order has been pushed back twice from last year to Q1 to Q2. To a certain degree I'm somewhat grateful I won't have to deal with teething issues like the software stick drift. As a side note, I'm rather curious to see the next steam hardware survey and what number of steam os will be running.

Your deck was scheduled for after Q2 2022 and it still is. Now they have a better idea with regard to cancelations etc they have given you a more accurate time of Q3 2022. Your place has not slipped.

The problem was that many people were trying to order and the servers kept crashing. I was there waiting to order but kept getting told I was in the wrong region. My payment even appeared to go through at one point, then disappeared. It was, frankly, a bit of a mess. Glad you got yours, though. I hope you are having fun with it 👍

This is the same PS5/XBOX situation all over again. I waited so long to be able to buy a PS5 that I actually gave up. My Steamdeck pre-order shows after Q3... which probably means 2023.

i got mine just fine. and people selling theirs on ebay isnt a problem, because its theirs and they arent using bots to stockpile more because they cant. valve did a wonderful job and i hope other companies take note in the future. i knew exactly when i was getting mine and my email showed up the exact monday it was expected.

I'm really glad you got yours and I do think Valve's approach was better than we've seen from other companies, especially when it comes to preventing scalping. However, there still seems to be a real problem with getting the Steam Deck into people's hands. Certainly, from what I've been hearing, many more people who ordered Steam Decks have not received them than those who have.

If Steam Deck came in like 2017, then it would've been so successful & everyone got deck but situation like this is what do you expect. It sucks that it happened (war & covid).

There would probably still have been a limited supply at launch but it wouldn't have been as bad, that's for sure.

i think is worth to mention that valve is adjusting the expected buying order dynamically, meaning that if production ramps up (kzread.info/dash/bejne/oZ91sK2hmcbNm8Y.html) you're gonna see that reflected in your queue time. Also, seeing people(not scalpers) selling their Decks on ebay it means that A) the demand is higher and valve would keep supporting/making the device and B) decks are actually being send to their owners which is always good. Be happy my dude, you can be in-line and wait to buy a deck, here in mexico the thing is not even out for pre-order

I hope you are right. Certainly if I my Steam Deck gets pushed up, I’ll let everybody know. I honestly can’t see that happening but we can live in hope.

I hope I can get one in the next 6 months... but my reservation says after Q3 now... so... if it goes into 2023 I doubt I'll get it when my turn comes up. I probably will if i can get it before Christmas.

I got the order / pay mail for a 256gb version on Monday and the shipping mail on Tuesday. But i probably put it on ebay, if someone is willing to pay 1000€ 🤷🏻‍♂️ I'm willing to wait for my Q2 orders

I did. Got it on release day. Same for the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. I was one of the lucky ones, though.

When Zach from SwitcForce got one and i remember him saying in a previous video he didnt get a pre order because he didnt know about it and the site was crashing when he tried....fast forward to a few weeks ago all of a sudden he had one and it just made me so mad because right there it showed that he got moved up the line just because hes a popular youtuber, just one example and im sure hes not the only one who got it based off Subs. so i got a OneXplayer....ill see what Steam Deck 2 or 3 is working with in the future.

I have a Deck. It has exceeded all my expectations.

Yep I folded brought a 256gb for 1,200 😔 I guess I'm happy with my purchase.

Ouch. That's way too much for a product that will be replaced with something more powerful in a couple of years. Still, I hope you enjoy it.

I ordered several days after the launch. My order was first confirmed for Q1 2022, then got moved to Q2 2022. Now it's July 2022. This seems entirely reasonable to me, considering I didn't even order on the same day it was announced. I think part of what you're seeing here is that unlike certain console and GPU manufacturers, Valve doesn't seem to prioritize North America, so people in North America will feel like there's not a lot of supply compared to other console launches, whereas people in Europe will have an easier time getting their hands on one compared to e.g. the PS5.

So many people argue that Valve did the right thing..... but Scalping is still very much a thing. All they've succeeded in doing is reduce the volume of bulk scalpers who profit and turned it into a cottage industry with "gamers" turning on gamers. I've said in various places that to stop the scalp all Valve needs to do is lock the MAC of the Deck to your steam account. Locked to your account for 3-6months would kill scalping overnight. It would mean those only looking to flip their lucky early reservation would think again, cancel or perhaps keep their Deck and be a gamer not a junior scalper. I think you'd definitely see more gamers thanking Steam, more content from gamers on youtube and less youtube cash grab then scalp. I saw one Glasgow youtuber had done 1 video then scalped their 256 model for £1300 just yesterday on ebay. This insanity has to stop.

Actually anybody with direct supply chain experience, and is waiting on equipment that has electronic components would know last year was a naive expectation by Valve. It is playing out as expected. Only way everybody that ordered one already would get one this year is if capacity suddenly increases in the next few months. Would not place bets on that. Q2 should be good, but not sure on any others unless already says "Q3" and not "After Q3".

This is very different though because its just one guy selling one deck at a time, not a bot buying 100 PS5s at once and then flipping them. So its not really scalpers its just flippers doing a one off sale.

Scalpers are teaching me to become VERY good at waiting. Just like the year or so it took me to get a NON scalped PS5, I will just wait again. I love to see scalpers loose money. Worth the wait, but just like PS, Steam will lppse a fortune on potential game sales: scalpers don't by games with the 500 systems they keep in their storage.

The scalpers are people with money who don’t know how to make money. Even though they are making a profit, it’s not a sustainable or life changing amount of money and they would probably have more pleasure if they just enjoyed playing the console or having spent the money on something else in the first place.

Valves system was supposed to mean they had more control over supply and demand. The way they set up pre-orders meant they should have known exactly how many Steam Decks were required. And yet, we still had our orders pushed back. The reality is that very few people have received their Steam Decks. There’s no real way to sugar coat that. As for the pandemic, I get that but that in no negates the fact that pre-orders haven’t gone a smoothly as they should.

Mine is quarter to availability not after quarter to you just quarter to so obviously between next month and the 3-months coming after that right so between April and June somewhat I should get a email so made at the beginning of April I would get my email and then it will take about a couple weeks I'll see it about a month for it to ship to the UK and then I'll get it roughly in my hands to just play with but is that is funny because I demand of people that I've seen that have on KZread that have their Steve McCready even the 64 GB model then I realised yeah they must have had a quick chance to pre-order and I've noticed some people from the UK actually have those which is great so it means that is not just limited to day us first and then everyone else get stairs after so so I'm not go it said it goes in order right when they saying they are doing emails in batches but if like how many are they doing in batteries if they were a lot of people that actually pre-ordered right

If you ordered in UK, you'll get within a week. Saw a lot of people in the steam deck reddit got it within the week they got the Email or monday next week. Unlikely its gonna take a month to ship because valve have a warehouse in UK if im not mistaken.

The only shitshow here is your understanding of the expected order availability. When you pre-ordered the Steam Deck, you had an expected availability of "Q2 2022". Then, the December launch got pushed back by a quarter, so *everyone* got pushed back by a quarter. This showed up on your reservation as "After Q2 2022" because they didn't want to make any promises of what quarter someone would be in that far out until they launched. Then, when they launched, they had a better understanding of who would be in the third quarter, so they updated your nebulous "After Q2 2022" to "Q3 2022" because your order fell in that window according to their predictions. You are criticizing them for making your order prediction *more accurate* without even understanding what is happening.

Well, I couldn’t bring myself to make any videos about games at all last week because of what was going on… And because we had a friend staying with us who had to leave Kyiv due to Russia’s illegal war. If you check out my Twitter, you’ll see that gaming pretty much disappeared from my account last week too, as I was mainly sharing tweets from sources relaying information about the war. It probably put some people off my Twitter account and this KZread channel (one guy even told me he was unsubbing because of my support for Ukraine) but, as you say, some things are more important than gaming. #IStandwithUkraine

First of, your order didnt get "slips" twice. Seriously, you seem to very ill-informed. Yes, at first you were being push into After Q2 but once you got into Q3, you weren't being pushed or "sliped", you seemly has a concrete position now. Now you know you're certainly in the Q3 gang and not in after Q3. And valve is doing the best their can with the supplies issue, but at the end of the day, its not their fault that suddenly, a war happens or some shit manufacter decided to say, they can't give valve the material they need. Which is what happen last year. Plus, some tech review also stated that suppleis might get better but BAMB, a war happen and suddenly supplies get contraint even more. 2nd, ALMOST OF THE Q1 BATCH HAVE GOTTEN THEIR DECK. You can litterely look up in the Reddit community to see yourself and there handful more that got the deck that didnt even post about it. I didnt when I got my Quest 2, so there plenty of people that have gotten it. SERIOUSLY, Go and check and you'll see TONS of people have gotten it! 3rd. Slacpers will always exist. espically in our time of supply contraints. However, as you have look in your video, almost all of them are just resevation and not actual Decks, just a handful it seem, plus there a lot of troll that just bid the price for the scalp deck to get higher but didnt pay at the end. Again, this video just seem very miss-informed, same with what happen with a certain PC news outlet that had to change their headline because of the mistake they make. Saying that people get massive pushed back from After Q2 to Q3, and they just humilate themselve once their realise, After Q2 means its just Q3 ffs. Im sorry for the harshness but seriously, this video just feel very stupid.

@@metatronblack His a youtuber. And someone that's expressing their opinion. Naturally, someone will come and counteract him. Especially when he makes a bold claim that no one is getting the steam deck. Which is factually wrong. Seriously, it makes it feel like his a narcissist, "Oh Im not getting it, so everyone else isnt getting it" vibe. Its remind me of that recent IGN article where they say people got "pushed back" to Q3 and they since have change it, from the backlash and such. Even valve stated that no one got push back, just thaf people get a more concrete idea of their position is queue, in the form of Q3 and after Q3. Which in term mean they are more confident they can release more steam deck in that time frame. Again thing can change but its not valve fault for when a supplier sudden runs away. His video feel very over-reacting for the sake of it and for the clout as the kids says it. Or feel like a karen that gets mad because her queue is on the back and she cant get forward because too many people ordering.

What happened with your steam deck reservation is initial + one quarter. I reserved mine during first 10 minutes, it was December 2021 and got delayed to Q1 2022, already got it and I'm not a famous youtuber. Since you got initially Q2 2022, you were pushed to Q3, but they did not indicate initially so said after Q2, which is true, Q3 is after, and now they clarified who is Q3 and who is even further. Hopefully it will not be pushed again. What is also cool is situation with scalpers. So far I have seen 4 or 5 listings on eBay with the actual device and not a reservation selling scam. It's definitely not ideal, but it's far better than ps5 where bots are buying all the stock in 0.1 second. Oh man, hopefully this shortage will soon end 🥱🥱🥱

My initial order said Q2, not after Q2, so I was definitely bumped to Q3. They have definitely managed to stop a lot of the issues with scalpers but there are some still out there. As production ramps up I hope any scalpers will be forced to lower their prices or be unable to sell. We'll see, though. I also expect to see some orders moving to next year. That also depends on just how much Valve can ramp up production, though.
