Lew had the most interesting, unique voice, never to be duplicated!
This is Lew DeWitt at his best. He is missed.

They were all @ their best, al l the time. The only thing I di dn't like about Phil is most o f the time he just lip synche- d instead of singing out lou d. He also should've sang le ad.a time or two.

Wish I could've met all the S tatler Brothers, although mo re than one occasion I woul d have a dream @ night tha t I knew the boys personally, but that'll never happen. Ala s, what a dream. I think ano ther time I dreamed I was on stage singing with them.
I am so thankful that Lew was included in the Hall of Fame with the others. He certainly deserved it. I wish they could have been a quintet.

They were a quartet once Before they started out as country group their idols of becoming a gospel/country group was The Blackwood Brothers And The Statesmen Quartet.
Not to take anything away from Jimmy Fortune, cause he is great, but, Lew DeWitt had a unique sound that no one can match! Love to listen to them both! Miss you Lew!

Glenn Fulkerson Yes, he sure did, Jimmy is a good singer, but Lew’s voice, and singing style was truly unique.

This is an extremely rare case of a Statler Brothers song sung entirely by Lew DeWitt. It'd be even more so if one of their songs was sung entirely by Phil, which, unfortunately, never happened.

@@kevinmiller1763 "You Comb Her Hair Every Morning" from the album 'The Country America Loves' and "15 Years Ago" from 'Bed Of Rose's' both would seem to qualify as solos by Phil.
I hadn't heard this song until now, which is embarrasing since I've been a Statler Bros. fan for around 35 years! But I love it ...AND I love and miss Lew DeWitt - there will never be a better tenor than he was. God bless you all. :-)
I love this happy song. It is like going home again. We miss you Lou DeWitt. You will live on in your songs.

I really like Lew!
Love his tenor voice!gone but not forgotten!
Born and bred in Charlotte...when I'd be on my way back home from some distant, unfamiliar place...this song always got played as I rolled back into N.C.
I noticed on the like and dislike buttons that, there are not one dislike button this song since it was published nothing but 264 likes that's Awesome
He discovered Jimmy, so I guess in a way he lives on. I liked Lew better, but then there never would have been Elizabeth. Talk about an answer to Elvira!
Sends chills down my spine listening to Lew! I thing best tenor ever.
Bravo Darrell Burnham. Lew is the best of the Statler's, and yes he'll always be missed. We love you Lew.
forever champion dewitt!
Went to one of shows and they gave us our moneys worth.
I have not heard this song in 40 years, brings back memories.
Greatest tenor in music history!!!! Love me some Statlers!!!!💜
Lew gave the Satter's that unique sound which cannot be duplicated. I think it was that 'sound' that make them famous. Jimmy is good but Lew's voice had a uniqueness and quality that was special and only to him. The song where they imitate guitars, Lew was in tune with the Dubrow. (And what a good-looking man.)
THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this song!! I've been waiting for YEARS for this to get on KZread!! It's such a sentimental song for me...I truly can't express my happiness and gratitude enough to you for this!!!
Just love Lou👍❤️
Thank YOU for posting this. Lynchburg, Va is where I was born and raised. I've been a Statler Brothers fan for nearly 50 years thanks to my mother. I also lived in a tiny little place called Etowah, NC outside of Asheville, NC while I went to college in Brevard, NC. Visited Charlotte and Cherokee many times. Love the mention of Roanoke, VA as well. Just a few miles up the road from Lynchburg. Lew was one great song writer.

I loved Lew. He was so talented and sweet.
This is a song for people like me that live in North Carolina
Lew! My hero!
I Really Really wish that they would put this album out on CD. It's my all time favorite. Jimmy was great, but Lew was one of a kind.
I loved Lew. He was so good but he never got all the credit he deserved.
love this.
It's not often you have a Statler Brothers song where Lew sings the lead vocals.

Lee had what use to be called an Irish Tenor and it is a very unique sound. Look up Jack Benny and His shows singer Dennis Day.
There is another obscure song on The Originals" called "Almost In Love". Any chance you could make a post of it? My only copy of the album was stolen and I've been looking for years for a replacement.
