I was at this concert, Calgary Stampede 1972, Kids Day the Saturday. Best day of my life up to that point. Imagine, being by yourself at the Stampede at age 9. I hung on to money for my lunch meal, a real treat! I got home with 25 cents in my pocket. What a concert, what a day! Thanks Ronnie King and band.

Big big hand for Rich Dodson!
One of the most underrated tunes from The 70's. I liked it then, and still like it now.
As a NYC native..you can keep Sinatra, Joel, and the rest...give me a sunny day..a banjo and the Stampeders...say's it all! Great song!
Younger days that never came back memories I lost was just a dream
I love this song! I Found my dad's old cassette tapes in the basement and "The greatest Hit" was there. I remember when dad still lived with us, he would play that cassette in the truck over and over again. :) This song brings back a lot of good memories. :D
That guitar solo at 2:15 captures the spirit of the era, like moonlight in a bottle 😁 🌸🌿
Back when music was music and u could understand it
1971---What a great year! Everybody had hair!

Totally miss guys with long hair
There few bands that epitomize "Canadian talent" quite like the Stampeders. I did roadie work for them when they were touring here in the early-mid 70's and I'd go back in a second and do it all over again.
What a great tradition The Stampede is...Good on ya, Calgary!
That was the year Rob, Barb, and I waded in across the Elbow river around the back of the Stampede grounds to get in. I remember we were walking in the midway and the security guy comes up and says " nice two tone jeans" and we ran like the wind...
I was 6 maybe 7 when I first heard this song on the radio and it never grows old .✌
I remember first seeing The Stampeders open for The Osmond Brothers at The CNE, Toronto. /71?

Pride of Canada 🇨🇦 this song
I was in the audience for this performance! Kids Day at the Calgary Stampede!
My favourite Stamperders song, and the biggest hit of their career, from 1971.
And they’re still playing live gigs! Saw them a couple years ago in Lindsay, Ont. Still playing & having fun!
These guys were so unique. Their songs all have stood the test of time. These days you listen to a song for a few weeks and then you don't care if you ever hear it again. This is different it gets in your soul. April Wine is another example of timeless classic music. that never goes out of style.
Most excellent!
So love this song, always been my fav :)
Pride of Canada 🇨🇦 this song

So many great Canadian bands in the early 70s; these guys were one of the best🎸🎼
Classic oldie. I love that 71 LTD rolling along to the tune vintage old world style
Discovered these guys last week while listening to a station on Songza. God I love it. Reminds me of music my parents and uncle would listen to. Especially my uncle. Best uncle EVER.
Video was actually shot in July 1972 in Calgary at the Grandstand. The clue is at 1:48, the license plate on the car clearly identifies at 1972.
Wow huh!
I love it! I was actually AT THIS SHOW! It was a Children's Day concert at the Calgary Stampede. I even remember the wet stage from the rain. The whole crowd sang along to this!
The sweetest memories....
I was 8 yrs old back in the day. My brother had all of their songs on vinyl.
Ronnie King 1947-2023
This was one of the songs used as bumper music for the old Big Chuck and Hoolihan show, and that's where I'll always remember it.
Awesome! Takes me back to easier times!
Fantastic as I was there to.. God Bless them all.
Who cares if it isn't live. It's still a brilliant toe tapping, gets in your heart, stuck in your memory, wish I could sing that well sort of song. Shame I had shifted to Australia by then.
Me and Danny Cruz, 1971. North Bergen NJ and NYC. Love you always Danny. 💔🙏
This song has gone out of my memory and I accidentally listened to the LIVE365, an online radio, that's the reason I surfed here. Thanks for uploading.
Oh dang. This looks wild as heck. Before my time. By a year. Goodness. I love this song. ❤
That year I was 4 years old and I got lost at the Stampede grounds as soon as we walked in around 11 am...my family found me in my dad's car around 8pm...gawd...this is what this song reminds me of...what a sin
Man they are still my fav band

No, it doesn't. It says 1971-the year that they won the Juno, though the ceremony and concert took place in '72.

Hey I perform on that stage every day during stampede!
Wikipedia - Formed in Calgary, Alberta, in 1964 as the Rebounds.[4] they had five members: Rich Dodson, Len Roemer, Brendan Lyttle, Kim Berly, and Race Holiday. They renamed themselves The Stampeders in 1965 and Len Roemer was replaced with Ronnie King and Van Louis. In 1966, they relocated to Toronto and became a trio in 1968 when Lyttle, Louis, and Holiday left. The Stampeders scored a hit in 1971 with "Sweet City Woman", which won Best Single at the Juno Awards, reached #1 on the RPM magazine charts, and #8 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.[5] Written by Dodson, the track stayed in the Billboard chart for 16 weeks and the disc sold a million by September 1971, and the R.I.A.A. granted gold disc status.[4] The Stampeders also won Juno Awards for Best Group, Best Producer (Mel Shaw), and Best Composer (Dodson) that year.[6] The band signed with Polydor Records for US distribution.[7] By 1975 the band had toured extensively in the United States and appeared on television shows.[8]
One of my favourite songs from 1971.

hey, im from that town! the stampedes only a week away too
First of all, this is not the Stampeders performing "Sweet City Woman". No video exists that I have ever seen, so when they released the Stampeders video history some time ago, they came up with this attempt to make it appear they were performing the song. But you NEVER see a band member moving their lips to the lyrics in this song. Because they are performing a different song in this concert. I have to believe there is a video somewhere out there of the 70's group performing this song.
✨🎶✨
if life would only be like this once again... not a care in the world...:)
They should play for the 100th anniversary this year!
sweet

That orange suit at 2:13 should be classified as a weapon of mass distraction...

I like that it lists three members, but there's : Guitar, bass, drums, tenor banjo all going on at once, in addition to vocals. so... Who's playing two instruments??
say dat again.
look closer at it says 1971
great song always on my playlist but how can you go play at the stampede and forget to bring the cowbell?? if you notice theres no bell thats in the original version
