Lucas Oil really is something else. That's one of the top stadiums in the world just for how unique the styling is.

I just came to say the same thing, I had no idea about it until now! Some stunning stadiums all around the place, the new Indy Eleven will be smart when complete. The USL Championship is a great league

Those sightlines at Victory Field are next level! I catch multiple games there every year and there's not a bad seat in the house. (It's also hands-down the cleanest sports venue I've ever visited.)

I’m all in for not having a MLB team here because the AAA stadium is so nice and tickets are so cheap

The Beatles , Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix all performed at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum . The building was known as the State Fairgrounds Coliseum then.

Definitely not enough information and attention given to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The IMS seats 257,327, but has infield space that can accommodate another 150,000. Most years there are around 350,000 fans in attendance for the Indy 500. The Pagoda is an iconic structure that has become a worldwide symbol of motorsports, and the IMS museum contains vehicles going back to the very first Indy 500 (held in 1911) up to present day. The IMS is massive, and can fit entire countries inside of it, such as Monaco and Vatican City. Multiple major stadiums and structures can fit inside of it as well. It takes about 20 minutes walking at a brisk pace to cross from one side of the track to the other. The turns are all banked at the same degree, but all behave differently because of the angle of the sun and the difference in the heat and the way the winds interact with the track (due to prevailing winds as well as the positioning of the grandstands). It takes extreme skill to keep a car going 230+ mph (370kmh) on the track, let alone race against other cars doing the same and attempt to pass them. It may seem silly to think a course that is just 4 left turns could be all that interesting, but the speed and intensity of the race coupled with the varying strategies, pit stop challenges, and chaos that routinely strikes each year -- plus 350,000 screaming fans -- all combine to make the IMS the greatest racetrack in the world, and arguably the greatest sporting venue in the world. To anyone who doesn't get it, come visit for the Indy 500 sometime. My buddy just came to Indy from LA this year for the race, and it left him with his jaw on the floor. He had the time of his life, and is now counting down till he can come back to do it again next year. There is nothing on earth like Indy in May.

Don't forget that there's a golf course that runs inside the infield. Many people forget about that part, but I just find it funny.

Lucas Oil Stadium is a really nice stadium. The design of it makes it feel intimate on the inside, even though it holds over 60,000 fans. And as us the case with roofed stadiums, it gets extremely loud

Marching at Lucas Oil for ISSMA and BOA events was something else. So cool to be down on the turf

I know it doesn't meet the minimum criteria, but Southport High School gymnasium seats 7,124. It is used for high school basketball. As you can tell it's kind of a thing around there.

This one isn't in Indianapolis proper but Fishers Event Center is getting built currently as well. The Indy Fuel are scheduled to play there next year as well as a new pro volleyball team called the Indy Ignite and an arena football team called the Fishers Freight

The pictures and Google Earth imagery don't do justice to the way Lucas Oil stadium just DOMINATED the Indy skyline, it's wild the way that thing stands out from any angle

They tried that. It didn't work bc you could still see the yard lines and end zone colors. I would love to see Lucas Oil get renovated to fit both football and soccer like many NFL stadiums!

Would love to see the United States Hockey League (USHL) return to Indianapolis. They had great support with the Indiana Ice when they were they before the team folded several years ago. The USHL as the nations top junior hockey league has only gotten much stronger since the Ice folded. Sending tons of players to the College and professional ranks!

The Indy Eleven stadium is likely never going to happen. Since the ground breaking, the city has pulled financial support saying that it will only finance a soccer specific stadium if it gets a MLS team.

The Mad Ants are from Fort Wayne. The other team at Gainsbridge Fieldhouse is the Fever. Lucas Oil Stadium uniquely has a curtain (3:57) in front of the back stands for America's premier marching music competitions (DCI, BOA).

The Pacers relocated the Mad Ants from Ft. Wayne to Noblesville and while the arena in Noblesville is being finished this season, the Mad Ants are playing at Gainbridge this year!

Yes! We need another major league team. I could see Eleven Park giving Indy an MLS franchise but I would also love to see an MLB team. I also wonder if we could also get an NHL team by renovating Gainbridge Fieldhouse to be suitable for hockey.

MLB won’t be coming to Indy… It was tried in the 80’s (google Indianapolis Arrows). Cubs, Reds, and Cards won’t let a new team cut into their fan base and there are too many other options that are better for MLB (Portland, Montreal, San Antonio, etc…).

Todd West is right. Indianapolis is too close to the White Sox, Cardinals, and Reds to be allowed a major league team, plus the team is in th Pirates farm system, so they aren't keen on the idea either. I doubt the Cubs would care much, as their fanbase largely pulls from North and West Chicago, while the White Sox are more South Chicago and The Region (Northwest Indiana).

The team pulls in 10k people today. It's not crazy to see 20k - which the team pulled on occasion back when they played in Lucas Oil.
