The SWAC was formed in 1920 with only six Texas schools. Back then, Texas was considered part of the Southwest, because barely anyone lived in Arizona and New Mexico at the time. More eastern schools gradually joined as the western ones dropped out, while the conference became known as the premier league for historically black colleges. They notably don't participate in the national playoffs, and have some unique traditions likes Thanksgiving Day games and spectacular marching band performances.

@@Snow-fh5kr Where are we getting the money? We don't have the funds of the PWIs to offer more FULL scholarships to top-tier black players that could bring in more money for all these upgrades you're suggesting. Learn the history how integration killed these schools--nothing to do with anything else. And some of the state HBCUs are still not getting the same funds as some of their PWI counterparts of the same size. Also, the answer isn't in lower academic standards anymore than some of these larger HBCUs already have--the academics has to remain competitive or the academic student's degrees won't produce in the job market--most of us aren't trying to get into the NFL and need degrees that firms respect.🤨

Texas Southern alum here. We also have a smaller on campus stadium called Alexander Durley Stadium where our football team practices and its also where our soccer team plays their home games and where we have our track and field events. The most notable being the TSU Relays which is extremely popular in college track and field. There have been talks of plans to expand the stadium because while BBVA is nice many prefer to have games on campus. And while the Dynamo have done a decent job at accommodating us it still doesn’t feel like “our” stadium. I like BBVA but it would be nice to have games on campus in a stadium that truly belongs to us.

Like cfb stadiums, they are of every kind, size and shape. They are smaller though, from what I could research (largest one with about 20k of capacity). The place with most top tier HS stadiums seems to be Texas. Some really nice ones. They also have the best level of competition. A common thing is a bigger stadium in the city being home to multiple schools. Like the Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Some rivalry games are played in college or even NFL stadiums for bigger crowds. Like the City-Poly in Baltimore, played at the home of the Ravens, M&T Bank Stadium. The championship games are also at NFL or college football stadiums at the end of every season. Like in Texas: they are at AT&T Stadium. In Alabama they rotate between the Bryant-Denny Stadium, the Jordan-Hare Stadium and the brand new Protective Stadium in Birmingham

  • @bridgerdeschamps

Regarding your second question, not too many high schools have (European) football specific stadiums. They mostly use the same field/stadium as the (American) football teams. As someone else mentioned here, there are a lot of cases in bigger towns where there is one stadium shared by multiple high schools (often for the American football teams). Sometimes, that gives each of the high schools a chance to have a small stadium/field on campus at the high school and that can be used by the (European) football teams. But in most of those case, it might only be 5-10 rows of bleachers on one side of the field, and there is often a running track for athletics surrounding the field.

People get confused when the SWAC and D2 HBCUs say that Donald Trump money was more so far the HBCUs close to the white house and also some of those president's knew Donald Trump well. Now sadly in the case of some HBCUs, the president of the school has wonderful visions for the school but the city isn't really helping them out.
