A few days ago as I approached the Holy Altar to receive our Lord in Holy Communion I was about to make a certain sacrifice for love of Him and humility which was going to cost me and do you know that the words that came to my heart were, “For you Jesus, I am your little donkey.” I happily wondered “little donkey???” and then today I saw this! VERY BIG SMILE!

Great video!! The donkey is mentioned several times in the Old and New Testament and has a key role on Palm Sunday when a donkey was chosen by Jesus to be his vehicle into Jerusalem. From this came a legend of the donkey's cross. The little donkey that had been Jesus' mount on Palm Sunday, came to the hill of Calvary on Good Friday. Seeing the tragic event occurring he wished he could help Jesus carry the cross. But he was unable to get to Jesus through the crowds. After the crucifixion of Jesus, the little donkey stayed at the foot of the cross until all was over because of his love for his master. In reward for the loyal and humble love of the little donkey the Lord caused the shadow of the cross to fall across his back and left it there for the donkey to carry forevermore. This cross is a sign that love of God, no matter how humble carries a reward. Many donkeys still bare the sign of the cross on their backs since that very day.

A talking donkey is sketchy. I don’t believe donkeys can talk. And there’s more issues. Numbers 22 reads as a bizarre fairytale in which God tells Balaam not to Go, then God tells him to go, then God sends an angel to kill him for going, then God gets a donkey to talk to balaam so he won’t be killed by the angel god sent bc he went, and then God tells him to go anyway.

…...not to mention the treasure in Bro Isaiah's mind. Totally uplifting.

Another time which I think the donkey was of great service in the life of our Lord was when the angel appear to Joseph in a dream and told him to take Mary and Jesus and flee to Egypt!

Thank you for the interesting video. Donkeys are truly are one of the Beasts of Burden (the others being the horse, camel and the ox). Donkeys are not flashy like horses; such as the Arabian horse, or like the Appaloosa - the breed with spots or, the Palamino-the golden colored horse. The donkey is cheaper to feed than a horse because of its gut bacteria. Donkeys are much sturdier and more surefooted than horses are, which is why donkeys are favored over horses to traverse mountains as pack animals.

Noticed that too, but, eh, they all have four paws I suppose. Also, Jesus chose a donkey to ride in Jerusalem because His is a peacetime kingdom. If it was a wartime kingdom, the symbolic animal to ride would have been a horse. At least that's my understanding.

thank you for this video. I was thinking about kenosis and what it means. I don't know if I'm wrong but it looks like God is helping me with this video: like the donkey, just to be available to God and maybe become the unexpected bearer of God's good things for the ones around us. Bro. Isaiah, The message is: it wasn't the donkey per se, but that the shepherd had hobbled him. The sheep, goats and donkeys are hobbled when they constantly run away from him. The donkey being important as a "guardian of the flock" had to be corrected. When God puts hardship in our life it is a kind of hobbling so that we can not run from him. Notice that Christ carries thy rod and thy staff. The rod to correct/hobble and the staff to guide. Good luck and much love.

The “cult handbook” you speak of turned my life around completely. The “cult handbook” has taught me to give up my selfish desires and try to be a better person. To make a better world. Why do you try to stand in the way of this?

T R I thought for sure that would be mentioned! Was always curious about that one...

You can find tons of donkey figurines decorating houses of the Opus Dei for this same reason. It turns out that it's founder, St. Josemaría, was a really big fan of them for the same reason and would often use this idea of the donkey in his prayer life. So, these donkey figures help us remind ourselves that we have to be more like donkeys. GOD's awesome donkeys ;)

Not true, they're not that different. Catholics talk more about Mary and the saints but also about the purgatory. Other than that, we're both Christians. Btw I'm a Protestant too and I watch Ascension Presents. We are not talking about two different religions

I'm a catholic who loves my faith but also spends lots of time praying and studying with protestants (I live in the deep south...), and I personally see the truth in both sentiments. I believe we are all Christ's body, we all worship Jesus and are of the same Faith, but I'm also proud of the deep richness of the Catholic faith, much of which is unfortunately (in my opinion) missing from other denominations. I kinda don't mind being thought of as a bit, well, alien... ;) Zanlam I think I've noticed your comments before. I hope God leads you to the fullness of truth.
