The Spirit of Cricket - India

In January 2020 I travelled through India, visiting the ovals and maidans of Mumbai and the backstreets of Kolkata, enjoying local roadside matches on the way. I discovered a game out in the desert, met a team of cricketing Monks, played cricket with kids by a river and was clean bowled on the beach at Juhu! I met Sachin and Dravid and the blind and physically challenged cricketers who totally inspired me. Along catching up with the youngest and oldest cricketers, and the first girl's Cricket Academy.....and much more! I have chosen 220 photographs from the thousands I captured with my trusty Canon camera. I proudly share and celebrate this collection in a Limited Edition, 324 page large format book. It is a limited edition, and you can at my site- stevewaugh.com.au

I know you do charity and yes there are a lot of people who r below the povery in my country and we r in the middle of fixing it . I realyhave a problem with your clips. you only show povery , and indians living in so called your land (which I mean forcefully taken from abrognies and converted a british land) Dont make make them fell bad all the time . you might have seen the rasist slurrs on chanel 7 news if you havent please check it about India (cricket postings on fb of chanel 7) . Your these videos give your Aussi (in realtiy british ) people a chance to think look they r poor . which is not 100% of the story yes there are poor but there are lots and lots of middle class way more than your country's total population and with all the povery we still aim to go to moon . We have indians running companies like google. If you really wanna help poor i dare you to help your native people whom your forefathers have distroyed . Thus make a documentry how British distroyed Abrognies . I hope you accept this challange

Cricket is not a sports, its a nostalgia, its an emotion, it is something that make us mad, loose our sense and when the emotion settle down, we relish the enthralling journey that it has taken us. The voice of Steve Waugh, a little glimpse of Sachin makes me feel all those moments, that I have in my memories..

I live in Australia now, family moved here when I was 4. My brother and I still find ways to play cricket with anything and everything that will suffice for a ball, bat, stumps and pitch. Cricket is more than just a game. Its a way to connect with our loved ones and share special memories, the vitriol of losing, the adulation of winning are indescribable. This video is a fantastic insight to see the current state of the game in india. My mum continues to tell me how my brother bring me a ball and tell me to bowl to him (I wouldve been a baby at the time and he wouldve been 5 years old). I love cricket and thank you to the legend Steve Waugh for showing us just how strong the love of the game is in India.
