It might be a sad day as Terry Hall has died, but his music with The Specials still lives in our hearts, souls and ears. The music of Terry Hall has not lost anything of its power and strength. History repeats itself, so, each and every song is as topical and accurate as when it was written some 40 years ago... #RIP, Terry. My thoughts are with family, friends and colleagues. Thank you for giving my musical taste the upbeat of ska and your lyrics to guide me through live.

The Specials are as relevant as ever. The same Tory government, the same economic crisis, the same non-solutions to real problems and the same demagogues trying to distract us normals by trying to create racial anger. Who will outsmart and outstyle the dividers now? Somebody has to.

Every time I listen to this, a 62 year old is instantly 18 again....that is the gift you guys and your music give to so many. Sad that this wont happen again, but there are some great tribute acts keeping it going...and I will dance to this til I (happily) drop. ps. How many times these days do you see an audience totally absorbed and dancing and enjoying the performance like this and not standing like statues recording on their phones. They are Special.😎😎

I saw them for 3rd time at the Richoe centre in Coventry for their 30th anniversary . They played ghost town ..I stopped dancing and just stared at them .. tears streaming down my face ...think OMFG it's the specials and I here with them . Few songs Nevel staples went on the mic and stopped the music . Said a huge thank you to the crowd and said you've made 8 60 year old blokes so happy he had tears and struggled to speak we had tears ...I lost it at that point . Straight into concrete jungle omg the place erupted ....never been so happy in my life

I beg to differ.I got into The Specials and The Selecter at the exact same time in the 80s. The selecter is first, deeper bass and drums, rude all the way, The Specials are number 2 for sure. But, don't get me wrong, I absolutely love The Specials too, I just know that The Selecter had ( originally) an all black line- up that was tight as fuck, along with Pauline Blacks vocals. The Specials, of course had more male energy. And I've seen them both live, been in London where Jerry Dammers bought me drinks at Ronnie Scott's club.I play both of their music, bass & drums.🤔👀🙏

Well put. "Do Nothing" is one of the most sublime singles I've ever heard. Odd it escaped my notice for decades. [I'm in California, grew up in '80s Central Valley and this band was off-radar at the time. Being a skatepunk I had tapes of The Beat, saw UB40 w/Chrissy Hynde @Berkeley Greek Theatre ~ '87.... but there was little else of English Ska breaking through around here. Squares stopped at The Police, while the stoners and DeadHeads might be into reggae. Little else _ska-related_ made it out here, and until 311 broke on MTV most Yanks had never heard of it.]

So much gratitude I feel for that woman. Otherwise, I might have missed ska, reggae, and finding Trojan records from Jamaica. Thanks Jodi! You made a difference in this little metal head!

I remember being in teens and buying the import 12" of ghost town with that amazing cover with two skeletons at the piano. They spoke truth to power without being so heavy handed, obvious or preachy. It was just wrapped and delivered in such way that automatically had you moving. The message was snuck in with all that skankin. I'm so happy I was able to catch them twice when they reformed.
