The things Joe Strummer taught me as a performer, I still take to heart. The way he just gives all his energy on stage, and so clearly and strongly believes in what he and his band's doing there. It's inspiring.

I think he brought his natural self to his stage performance and gave all his energy to everything he did. When I’ve heard the radio shows he DJ’ed, his passion and intensity are the same. I learned of Earnest Ranglin and Johnny Clegg from albums Joe played. Even his doodles and sketches have the energy. A beautiful soul.

This is one of my favorite live performances by them. I like the venue too. It trips me out that there was so many Japanese people who were into a English punk band. You know that there was a lot there who didn't even know 1 word of English, and to me, you cant get more of a hardcore fan like that. I would've loved to attend it back then, those were my type of people there.

To me it's the equivalent of the perfect summary of their entire career, as 1982 was their true swan song with "Combat Rock", but they played with the same energy they had in 1977 (and the Japanese crowds always love great heavy tunes - I would refer you to The Ventures version of "Wipe Out" from 1966 in Japan). If you ever want to introduce someone who has been raised by wolves to The Clash, you must start with this concert.

They absolutely killed it, I remember reading somewhere Joe was asthmatic and had a cold this duration of the tour. Could barely tell because Joe was just as passionate as ever. Hard to believe that at this point the band weren't particularly getting along the best here, but they still can put on a hell of a punk show. Even though I wasn't there, I'm so thankful for these guys.

This show is just incredible... the overture with "La resa dei conti" by the Maestro Ennio Morricone and "London Calling"! What a combo! It's like a KO punch. Then the atmosphere of "Charlie don't surf" and "Armagideon Times" with those beautiful lights... the groove of "This is Radio Clash"... "Police on my back! Wow! This explains why The Clash are "the only band that matters"! I'm a Blues fan and I really think that The Clash are the best rock'n'roll band ever. They had great music, cool style and an important message too. Sorry my english is bad (hey I'm italian) but I hope you understand what I mean :p

Nope, the sound IS really good & they're tighter than a guppy's butthole. I also saw the Clash live in 1982 in Christchurch, New Zealand & they were utterly blistering. I was about a metre from the stage in the hellacious mosh pit, which was just a seething squash of human flesh. Sadly there was a contingent of fascist punks, boot boys & skinheads in attendance who kept screaming for "White Riot" and gobbing at poor old Strummer. I'll never forget how after enduring 2 songs of this behaviour, Strummer killed the 3rd song dead barely a bar in and launched into an apoplectic rant at these bozos. I only picked up a few choice words like "F*cking", "wankers", "don't wanna catch", "hepatitis" and "quit it or we're quitting". Thankfully the moron brigade obeyed, and yes, the Clash did eventually play "White Riot", which I thought was pretty magnanimous of them. After the gig, I wondered why my back was so cold as I exited the town hall, only to discover the back of my tee-shirt had been completely torn off by the guy behind me who'd been hanging onto it all through the gig. Now THAT'S rock 'n' roll, kids! Lol

Genuinely believe that these guys had the musical chops to be a second coming of the Beatles if time and circumstances were right. That said, I am glad for what they were and enjoy the heck out of any good live uploads.

The Clash ate the Beatles for breakfast each and every day. With they had more time together.

The Clash released their first album in 1977 and in this year, 1982, released Combat Rock, going through Give em enough rope, London Calling and Sandinista. In 5 years........ that progression is utterly incredible and comparable with the Beatles 63 - 69 run of albums. Astonishing.

Still one of my favorite performances by this band. We're about to head out on a short tour & I'm sitting here watching them to gain even more inspiration. Still the best in my book. -Tom

A great way to learn how the drummer is important. Before this video I have see an old Clash video from 1983, I didn’t understand why it was awful before I notice that Topper wasn’t there. Then I find this. Topper transform Clash to a good band to one of the greatest. Sorry for my english.

It's all so good, but This is Radio Clash in particular: It amazes me how they got such a unique sound out of the same instruments. They were influenced by hip-hop and dance music at this time, but they made it their own. Fantastic!
