The Soviet Space Weapons That Never Were

On the one hand, we're really happy the USSR never quite perfected these weapons.
On the other hand, they each would have made awesome Megaprojects videos...

My grandad worked on the STARWARS program under Reagan. While the tech never made it to space in the form that was proposed it DID lead to the development of lasers from earth to recharge our satellites and other space craft using special panels kind of like solar panels.

I think he means the magnetic hydrodynamic cannon. A theoretical type of contraption which could accelerate molten metal or plasma to high speed by intense magnetic fields, but as far as I know these are still out of the realms of possibility, at least outside the lab conditions.

Do you think you could do a video on the Nevada-Class Battleships as both ships had interesting careers. One of which USS Nevada tried to escape Pearl Harbor, fought at D-Day , Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, and survived 2 atomic bombs. I would say that's a mega ship. Awesome video. Hope more videos are coming.

On September 13th, 1985, a U.S. Navy F15 successfully shot down a satelite that was was currently traveling at an orbital speed of 17,500 mph in space, having zero gravity. This was done with an air to air missile fired from an American aircraft while in flight, using 1983 US technology. There is even a video of it that you can find on youtube. Recently Russia made the news for doing the same thing for the first time...37 years after the US did it. The way it was reported from most media sources, was done in a way to suggest they are ahead of the US technologically. Russia may have developed an ammunition that packed enough power to escape Earths force of gravity in 1973, but their ammunition was not "smart ammunition". My comment is not meant to "one up yours", but rather intended to offer another perspective. Respectfully

Apperently space videos dont performe as well as other videos, but i think that a video about the X-15 and X-20 could be something that would be suiting to this channel. And on megaprojects a video about the Space Shuttle would be really awesome! Edit: and for the sweet views and watchtime a video about something like a sport stadium (i heard they are impressive, but i dont know anything about them nor am interested in learnin anything about them) could be fitting ^^

Suggestions. The massively expensive F35 JSF fighter. Will it be a world beater or just an expensive flop. Or you could do a full video on stealth technology. From Project have blue, the downed F117, through to 2 billion dollar B2s, and the new B21s. Another suggestion. The progression of nuclear submarines. From the early years, and disasters and sinkings though to todays leviathans, capable of turning entire countries to ash . ( i know you covered the typhoon)

If you want more crazy Cold War weapons, I'd recommend taking a look at Project Pluto. It was a proposed nuclear powered, thermonuclear armed monstrosity. The thing that made it scary is that it was somehow less humane than ICBMs in that since it was an unshielded nuclear ramjet that would've flown at low altitude, it would've given everything it flew above a lethal dose of radiation. Add to that the fact that it could fly basically for days on end and you have yourself a nightmarish angel of death. Oh, and the Russians are developing something similar right now called 9M730 Burevestnik (NATO calls it the SSC-X-9 Skyfall). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Pluto en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9M730_Burevestnik

A skiffy author at the 1984 World Science Fiction Convention in Anaheim proposed a "wheel gun" laser 6-shooter that used crystalline "cartridges" that operated on a piezoelectric capacitance-discharge technology way beyond what we have now ... But it took into account the fact that piezoelectric crystals need to recharge/relax after having been struck (which is why he made it a "western" skiffy setting: gotta RELOAD!)

@@MrYTGuy1 didn't think I'd have to get into the specifics of communism to make a joke. Also communism is a whole ideology otherwise it's not communism. For example socialism is similar to communism, but they aren't the same. You must be real fun at parties.
