The Sound of Silence was originally released as "The Sounds of Silence" in 1964 by Simon and Garfunkel, and Toni and I have been planning to do this one for literally years now. I'm glad I finally got to realize my dream of becoming Art Garfunkel, at least for a moment. Also, I had never heard Disturbed's version of this song until looking it up in preparation for this video, and astoundingly, it seems more people know that version than the original! They're both worth a listen. :)

Happy Sunday morning, all! I hope you enjoy our cover of this Simon and Garfunkel classic, The Sound of Silence. And thanks again to our friends at Kyser Capos for sending us those beautiful rosewood capos to use on this song! The one I'm using in the video is actually specially designed for classical guitar, so it's a little wider to cover the larger neck, which is awesome. When I was in elementary school, I think it was grade 4 or 5, our teacher made us learn this song. It was many years before I understood it, but my point is that it's been with me for the past 53 years. In that time there have been a handful of covers that I found worthy of the original. Yours is one of them.

Love your classic rock and fold stuff. You have the perfect voices for the Moody Blues' song WILDEST DREAM.

My mother used this song to teach sixth grade kids how poetry actually is music... And after she passed so many of her students came up to me and said how grateful they were for her lesson..

Did you hear (like millions and millions before you 🙂 ) Disturbed doing this on "Conan" in 2016? It's quite disturbing how good.....

Overproduced and easily digestible garbage for the masses. Disturbeds cover is the McDonalds hamburger of covers@@jimgordon3468
