The Sound of Diesel Power Idling- ES40DC - 3D AUDIO (WEAR EARPHONES!)

*DISCLAIMER* There is one bad spot in the video where the train begins moving. Because the Roland Mics I was using has a really high bass frequency response, the sound was overdriven into the mics. I apologize for this, and shortly after this, I ordered a bass reduction box to fit inline between the camcorder and the mics. The box worked wonders, but for now just lower the volume at that point in the video.
Caught this Norfolk Southern diesel unit holding for right of way at 6th street Riverwalk in downtown Augusta, GA...........wear earphones to feel the sound for best effect!

Awesome share...and as the others noted AMAZING sound quality!! That F-150 almost bought it @10:04. The heedless stupidity of some people is really mind-boggling. This would be GEVO GE Evolution Series. The ES44DC from Norfolk Southern doesn't use V16 Version of engines. Meaning this would be a V12, 7FDL12. The V16 Models would be the ES58ACi, and the ES59ACi in the European models.

Fantastic! I just purchased an AKG Lyra USB microphone, at some point I'd love to go use it on the BNSF yard or Union Pacific yard here locally, you could definitely get some great up close engine recordings and great train ambience! The possibilities are endless. It's a single microphone that records and wide stereo and true stereo. But with your setup, you could get one of the best audio recordings, say if one of these firing up. You'd have an up close recording inside the engine compartment, , as well as a straight up good old exhaust recording! That's the beauty of having a multi mic setup.
