I met this NPC on my second playthrough in chapter 2. I remember riding through the bayou and I met her and she began telling me her fortune when a bounty hunter shot me. missed. bullet went in between my legs. hit her lamp. and she caught fire and died. What a masterpiece of a game if such a random series of events can occur

@@knuteknoll6747 It doesn’t even make any sense in the context of Arthur and Mary’s relationship because none of Mary’s missions directly or indirectly cause either of their deaths unless you’re talking about in the emotional sense which honestly would be lame so ultimately it’d make more sense if it was meant for John and Abigail or Sadie

I don’t think it’s about Sadie or Mary Linton. It’s about Abigail and is referring to how she leaves and takes Jack and separates from John in the first red dead redemption but in the end of the game she comes back to him.

@Igk916 - She is talking more about death and damnation. So Sadie goading John into killing Micah, causing problems and making scenes in various places in their search and eventually killing him. This allowed the Ross and FBI (as they were known by that time) to link it back to John. They were also after Micah as well... John's decision just made it convenient for them to track him down Sadie is definitely not known for subtlety or her clandestine approach. She's a more tame, non-malevolent version of Micah. All that noise they made... brought Ross to him, and after John died. Jack broke, and the cycle continues. Side note: My theory with Sadie and Charles between Epilouge and RDR1 is Charles os in Canada, and Sadie was killed by the life lived... even if she left for S. America. She was killer with a death wish.
You know it’s a good mystery when it starts in the bayou nwa

That damn swamp
I sincerely believe even 10 years later we'll still find new things in this game
Thing is, the cycle continues even after John, because of Jack hunting down the men who killed his Father, and funnily enough the same Pinkerton who confronts Arthur and Jack while they're fishing is the last Jack kills, and he confronts him while he's fishing, wheels within wheels, ever turning, ever spinning...
@stanleycullen2690

jack probably stopped after killing Ross and lived a normal life, but we’ll never know
"We killed him" could be a reference to Nietzsche's "God is dead, God stays dead and we have killed him".
@anthonyprince7989
2 ай бұрын
yes, and Nietzsche also argues that we have not replaced him with anything
Perhaps the end of the cycle she refers to in the last fortune for John is that Jack won't start a family, and therefore the cycle ends with him killing Ross
This game has already become an all time classic.

The ooze in the swamp is also mentioned in the StrangeMans cabin on the wall. The soothsayer is actually making an analogy but would only be picked up by someone born in America. The ooze she is referring to is greed, which is at the base of what most bad people/villains in RdR2 are after.
9:26 I also like to think the "Betray them first!" Line could also reference Arthur helping the people of Wapiti, as Dutch, from my perspective, seemed to view it as a betrayal or going behind his back
@KevinMorgado-ue7yu

i feel like it was reference to Micah because micah betrayed the gang first by telling agent milton everything and their whereabouts like milton stated in the story and then later dutch betrays micah because he shoots him at the end

The old gods stir and will not let me sleep. I dreamt I saw a shadow with a burning heart butchering a golden stag, aye. I dreamt of a man without a face, waiting on a bridge that swayed and swung. On his shoulder perched a drowned crow with seaweed hanging from his wings. I dreamt of a roaring river and a woman that was a fish. Dead she drifted, with red tears on her cheeks, but when her eyes did open, oh, I woke from terror. All this I dreamt, and more.

My guy the creativity in your documentaries is too dope and the narration makes me feel like I’m watching 60minutes but RDR2. it really inspires me mate shout out from South Africa!
Something interesting of note... I remember you mentioning The Strange Man a couple videos back and how you think he might not be just a "strange" but nevertheless normal man, but a manifestation, or an apparition, or a god or something along those lines, meant to test Arthur & John's morality. Well I just did another playthrough and this time I did the whole thing low honor. The interesting part is I think you were not only right about The Strange Man, but also other NPCs such as Mickey the Valentine fake war vet and Blind Man Cassidy. I say this because I shot both Mickey and Blind Man Cassidy in the head (there's no way they could have survived) and yet they returned, doing their routines in both Valentine and at random, on the side of the road, seemingly as if nothing had happened. It unnerved me a bit when I came across them again, tbh.
When you talk about Abigail coming back and destroying her and John it made me think and I realized Abigail is the indirect reason for Edgar Ross tracking John because in one of the missions she shoots agent Milton which would probably lead to Ross getting promoted which leads to him hunting then killing John, also jack first meets Ross while fishing and kills him while Ross was fishing
@EE-md2lr
Жыл бұрын
Another thing to note was Abigail pressuring John to move back into the places his old gang used to terrorize because she didn't want to keep moving around the United States. This gave Ross a better chance to pinpoint Marston since the ex-outlaw wasn't moving around anymore, especially when Micah ended up dead. All Edgar had to do was cast a wide net around the surrounding area until he finally found him at Beecher's Hope. I don't feel Abigail was entirely at fault since she wanted to put her past behind her and settle down and plant roots. Still, she had a severe case of short-sightedness that the government would forget about John Marston and what he did in his heyday with Dutch when the former gang leader was still alive and kicking at that time. Sadie also played a part when she told John about finding out where Micah was and coercing him with the notion that they needed to hunt him down and avenge Arthur, so in a way, it was more than one woman that would come back and destroy him in the end.

I love your analysis of this encounter. We are soon to be nothing but bones and dust, but Arthur lives through memories and the actions he took. 👍🤠
Nice! A new video! I've only seen your older stuff, love the content man. Keep it up!
13:05 I think that quote is a little bit more about Johns struggle between wanting to live a normal happy life with his wife and his family but always getting sucked back in to the gang and his lawless western lifestyle. And that even if he really wanted to end that circle/cycle he couldn’t come to do it himself. It took Arthur’s wisdom and guidance to convince John to do the right thing and leave the gang and without him he falls right back into the lifestyle he says he no longer wants but always finds a way back to it in the end, regardless of what he wants.
Another piece of quality content! Keep it up man ❤

FIZHY keeps me coming back to this game! Strange Man and FIZHY are the only Red Dead Content I’ll ever need
For two years I bin waiting for you to do this your rdr vids never get old
Love the RDR2 videos, I just now got 100% in the game and at the end I liked that John was at Arthurs grave telling him it is almost over my friend and I'm sure everyone knows what that means. Please keep up the amazing work you are doing. Oh ya, I only ran into the Soothsayer 3 times, once as Arthur and 2 times as John but I never went back for more cause every damn time I did the freakies came after me and you can tell judging by how long it took me to complete the game I'm not very good with a weapon lol. Anyway thank you again for the great videos.
Interesting that there’s still things about this game I’m finding out, fantastic video btw
"She'll return to you" I interpret as referring to Mary Linton when she re-entered Arthur's life seeking his help. In her final letter to him, returning his ring, she acknowledges she was beginning to dream of a life they could have had again. She essentially informed Arthur it was too painful to harbor the feelings for him that she did, so she was going to try and move on. It was a break up letter. I see 'destroy you both' not to mean death here, but the heartbreak they both would have to relive again, because of their re-connection.

That was very interesting, I have never come across The Soothsayer and had no idea she existed. I came across Blind Man Cassidy a lot and honestly came to look forward to seeing him again but never her, it's interesting that Rockstar put two different NPCs in the game that can predict the future.
i have playd RDR2 for over 1k hours and i never even knew that this encounter existed
"You'll go away from here and realize that here is not so bad, as everyone does in the end"... Sounds more like a reference to Guarma.
Thank you for the banger upload fizhy

0:35 ^ Man, I love these kinds of RDR2 uploads❕👏🏼
Hey Fizhy! I met her on my second gameplay, it was after the epilogue, totally by accident, and I never met her as Arthur before. If my memory doesn't fail me, she delivered her "even the gods died" quote. I couldn't remember what she said after giving her money tho, that's a shame.
Funny, I took that “we have killed him” quote as referring to Nietzsche’s proclamation that “God is dead and we have killed him”. Then and now, modern humanity has struggled to fill that void.
I am from Nigeria. 10years ago a man predicted my mother's death, but he wasn't speaking plainly, just like this lady, 6months after the prediction, my mum died in an accident. I used to think people like this were just formulating things, but it turns out they hardly do. If you play this game for the first time and listen to the woman speak, you might never believe Arthur would die. It's crazy how they all never speak plainly.
Probably the first Rdr2 video about a thing I didn't even know existed! Granted I am fucking terrified of the Bayou so I'm not at all surprised.
I always get chills when I go to the BAYOU at night.
Came across her for the first time yesterday while doing the Algernon Wasp missions (Chapter 4). She was by the Strange Man's cabin. She spawned there twice for me.

Love the vids Fizhy. You should do a vid bout the devil cave next. Keep up the good work
"Even the gods die" could also mean disillusionment with idols, how Dutch breaks the façade of equanimity, and how the lawmen go back on the rules they're meant to uphold. "Beware the swamps" could mean stagnation, and how Dutch and his gang refuse to change in the face of the changing world, while they instead should come back "under a rock" - retire and lay low or *be* retired.

Possibly, most of her ramblings appear to have multiple meanings. It’s deliberately broad and perhaps that’s so every interpretation is the correct one for you as the player? Or perhaps it’s so every interpretation is wrong like Arthur’s or John’s would be if they even attempt to interpret it at all & something else comes along that fits to subvert expectations.

An honest mistake
I love your rdr2 vids
now THIS is the most emotional cover of Soothsayer.
I think you can find a more figurative and deeper meaning in the "Betray them first" prophecy. Though it's still connected to Dutch, Micah, and the blindly loyal members, it could also be a reference to Dutch's ideals. His ideas of family and loyalty will and faith are just pushing you further down until you're swallowed by them. The only response is to betray them first and abandon the gang. Or perhaps to help those you love abandon it first.
This is the first person I find that talks about an NPC I've never encountered throughout my 5 playthroughs
when she says 'she'll return to you both' I believe she is referencing death (as death is often referred to as she in alot of media) meaning she has come to kill arthur and john.
YESSS MORE THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN GAME AAAAA
you are my favorite rdr content creator
I went into red dead 2 knowing that they were going to have to set up the story for John. With this in mind I didn't really expect to care about any of the other gang members. But rockstar did a real good job at flushing out some of the characters. Once Hosea died, the gang didnt have a chance of survival. Had he survived, since he was questioning dutch since the train job in the opening, and he and Arthur both agreed that dutch and Micah messed up a lead they were working on before the blackwater mess. This leads me believe that if dutch kept on going off the rails and demonstrating he was more worried about himself, that Hosea and Arthur would have made a stand. Likely backed up by john and Charles, since Charles was doing his own thing already near the end because he disagreed with dutch's plan, and John was on the same page as Arthur for much of the game really.
I actually didnt know that killing Micah is what led to johns death. Its funny because when you kill micah and pick up his gun, it says "vengeance is hereby mine"
@kbowman968
Жыл бұрын
And Arthur reminds Dutch and John various times that vengeance is an idiots game
Ya know, her talking about machines makes me think of Marko Dragic’s robot that he creates.
9:16 i feel like it was reference to Micah because micah betrayed the gang first by telling agent milton everything and their whereabouts like milton stated in the story and then later dutch betrays micah because he shoots him at the end
Okay I’ve looked deeper into that boar, bear, pig. And I’m 100% certain the paleontologist that asks you to find the fossils- made it. If you compare both of her “creations” you can see MANY similarities between em…..multiple pairs of legs, the antlers, wings and she even states she was called “crazy” before. I know it’s a stretch but it all makes sense once you compare side by side pictures
There's always something dragging you back into that God damn swamp
Always a pleasure!
I recently got a co worker to start playing the game. I'm so excited to talk to him about it after he gets through the whole game . I'm not spoiling anything for him 😁
I did come across her in my first playthrough in the exact same spot that you came across her. I had been roaming around that area at night trying to find the ghost again when I heard her. Well then I did notice and I don't know if they're actually connected, is after discovering her the blind man has moved locations and is no longer in the plains area
