(A lot of straight fans had Rouge or Sally be their awakening, so don't throw stones.) 0:28 - How would you execute the character growth for Shadow and Sonic that would most help enable Sonadow? 1:46 - How would you arrange that first key romantic spark that was intended to drive the fans towards wanting them together? 3:49 - How would you make it official for the two of them? 5:17 - How would Professor Gerald, Doctor Eggman, The Commander, and Black Doom advise him? 7:54 - Let's say that in the aftermath of a terrifying evil scheme Eggman once more had to team up with the heroes to save the world… But he died in the process, leaving Sage and her brothers in the care of his uncle and uncle in-law. Assume that if money were real GUN would pay the kind of money that would keep a classy act like Rouge on staff, so the boys don’t need to change their heroics too much. How would they do as parents to the Sage, Orbot, Cubot, and after a while (if she so chose) potentially Belle? 11:16 - So what would each of their dying wishes to each other be? 12:53 - Would Sonic take Shadow’s last name, or Shadow take Sonic’s, each keep their own, or each add the other’s with a hyphen? (Given Shadow’s right to certain other last names, there could be a timeline with a Sonic Robotnik or Sonic Doom...) 13:53 - How would they both adapt to regularly hanging out with each other’s found family? 15:01 - With this new little family we’ve assembled around the Sonadow pairing… who would be their forever DM? (Omega is a Warforged Barbarian right?) 18:00 - From those whose Digimon partners you might choose to have DNA Digivolve with Sonic's or Shadow's partners - which characters figure it out from that basic mental connection, and of them how would they handle knowing without being told? 21:29 - So Kyle, can you please pitch me three episode ideas for the up-and-never-coming sitcom “The Hedge-Hogs” for me to rate? *Happy Pride y’all*

You don’t know how important it is to have someone properly discuss sonadow and respect it instead of treating it as a joke. An official sonic writer too,, like Im so happy about this. It’s a proper ship that makes sense, but because it’s gay no one ever takes it seriously.

Freaking love how he almost always says that most of the aspects of a relationship between them are already fulfilled, and that the only thing that would be missing would be the romantic part, but everything else is already done; Mutual respect, camaraderie, understanding, trust, everything. And it's perfect, give all possible development to whatever it is that they 2 have and the fandom (Sonadow fans more than anyone) will be happy 😊

Thanks for taking this "what if" scenario seriously, what makes Sonadow viable deep down to the core, what we really all crave is to see Shadow happy, for him to find someone to open up to being vulnerable and being trusting of them, and Sonic fits all of that really well, they've been through so much together, and wielding chaos powers together has to connect them on an emotional level, because it synchronizes their hearts to utilize the energy. "Chaos is power enriched by the heart".

Okay, so... you guys DO know that most of us Sonadow fans are aware of the obvious, right...? We know they aren't and will never be canon, we know that being lovey dovey is definitely NOT part of either of their characters, we know that we're batshit crazy fanatics for both of these hedgehogs and them being gay for each other is just icing on the cake for us. If yall just talked to a Sonadow fan you would know that the general air about the ship is "Beating The Shit Out Of Each Other Is How We Say I Love You" because literally the most heated interactions Sonic and Shadow have together is when they're in conflict... ESPECIALLY with each other. Conflict seems to be the best way either of these characters show emotions other than "chill cocky bastard" and "tragic broody loner". The whole Kiss Kiss Fall In Lovey Dovey Tooth Rottingly Sweet Happiness Together "sub plot" stems from how they were established. Sonic avoids romance because it slows him down and here runs in Shadow more than capable of keeping pace with him (maybe even surpassing him wink wink nudge nudge). Shadow doesn't do romance because he isn't emotionally available- maybe it's because deep down he knows that everyone he "cares for" will die, like that's just the fact of his future. Or maybe it's because he doesn't feel like he deserves to feel such a thing like love because deep tragic ptsd-ridden survivor's guilt. But here comes Sonic with his "You gotta live life to the fullest!" and the goddamn "Every world has its end" and his stupid ability to inspire hope inside people. Obviously these are stretches and blatant fabrications but they're rooted deep enough to the canon that they set themselves up as something that could have some validity. IF YOU GUYS COULD SEE THE DEEP LORES SONADOW FANS CONCOCT, YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND!! I apologize if I sound like a snippy asshole, Im not trying to be mean, I'm just a very passionate sonadow fan 😭😭😭😭😭😭

i agree with you and i think you have really good points. but to say it is 100% sure that they are not or will never be feeling any sort of thing for each other i think is a bit over the top you know? yes, i myself think sega will never gonna make it canon but still, we don't know that much about their direction of the characters towards the future really that much either. they could be hiding a few more things more than we think. we all know how much sega don't come out with all they have obviously. indeed, we never had a clear hint of the sonadow ship, but if you take a closer look at the evolution that the two had come through for the past few years (not talking about the boom era) whether it is in the games or even the shows they seem to have a special chemistry that no one can deny, they seem to feel something we just cannot say what exactly it is. i am not saying its love nor do i say its not. a lot of things can be controversial and thats why we cannot be a 100% sure about what the characters are really on about. that's only my opinion but everyone is free to think whatever else.

this is absolutely the best thing i've watched all week i love how detailed all this is, it may all be hypotheticals, but i love how much care goes into each description, it's not just things said to get out of the way, there's actual thought, actual planning, genuinely realising how these two would interact for this to happen, it's absolutely perfect and it DEFINATELY shows what a good writer ian flynn is, especially since he's even willing to talk of this ship, there's a lot of other writers who would just turn down any mention of this kind of stuff, not wanting to discuss ships in general unless it's a cannon one, and i'm pretty sure a lot of people who work at Sega wouldn't like talking of sonadow, but here, ian flynn isnt bothered by that it's all hypotheticals and he ENJOYS discussing it, talking through it, i LOVE it so so so much! sonadow isn't treated like a joke here, but rather treated with respect, and a LOT of thought, ian flynn is by far one of the best writers sonic has ever had, and i am so happy he's doing the work he is, this whole video was amazing.

More than a few months late, but I just wanted to say that, amidst all the other thoughtful discussion, I haven't seen anyone in these comments talk about the comedy GOLD that was your responses to the hypothetical Sonic Sitcom. From E-123 Omega popping out of the cake, robotically singing happy birthday, blowing everything up, to (Mike Polluck voice) "I hear you've got the Primetime cable package!" to Knuckles as Kramer and Shadow's unique parental situation... I was in actual tears. I wish that Sonic spinoffs could look like that, lmao. Also, forgot to mention that "What's Love Got To Do With It?" feat. Black Doom also had me in stitches. This was so insightful and funny, thanks you guys.

I love how there have been no torches or pitchforks whatsoever 😊

so I don't normally talk much about being trans on big youtube videos like this because I don't fancy my notifs being filled with variations of "kill yourself", but as well as my sexuality, Sonic in general actually helped me figure out my gender identity! Sonadow and SonAmy were big contributors to it. I always found myself very attached to Sonic as a character and over the past maybe 3 years it clicked; I wanted to _be like_ Sonic. I wasn't a girl. I was a boy. I wanted to sound like Sonic, I wanted to be loved as he is, recognised as a guy like he is, to have his confidence and pride in who he is. Sonadow is a ship that I do like a lot, even if I'm not too fussed about shipping. but Sonadow content helped me explore different dynamics and made me self examine how I would like to be perceived in a relationship. I wanted to have a boyfriend, while being a boyfriend. SonAmy was also similar where content relating to it made me realise I also like girls, not to mention they're my two favourite characters and I'm nostalgic about them lmao. but yeah, major props to Sonadow, especially in content where Sonic is often depicted as trans! because that's me, I'm trans, and I love Sonic! edit: got my first transphobic comment! anyway I'm a big scary queer transsexual with a beard and there's nothing anyone can say about it

I just want to say THANK YOU for broaching this topic - especially during Pride Month. Being able to treat the Sonadow Ship as a hypothetical and serious writing topic without the stigmas that exist around toxic shippers/anti-LGBTQA agenda is really inspiring to me as a writer who tries my best to create relationships (whether they be platonic or romantic) that WORK on multiple levels regardless of gender or other things that have traditionally limited professionally produced writing or how writing is viewed after being produced. In the end, everyone will view the characters the way they want - and I truly adore that since good writing and characterization will ALWAYS bring out intense feelings in people - but being able to have a professional writer who's actually WRITTEN for Sonic media discuss the realistic dynamics of these two characters is really so inspiring 💫 Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! 🥰

It's been established in some games briefly. In TMOSTH, Shadow admits he's really bad at using computers. Considering he mostly lived on the Ark and his only friend was a very sweet little girl, I feel like he wouldn't have been exposed to prejudice or known how the average person lived. He was however created will all of the knowledge of Gerald Robotnik.

I've got a Sonadow sitcom idea! Do a remake of The Odd Couple from SatAM, substituting Shadow for Antoine. Sonic moves in with Shadow and drives him absolutely up the wall. :D

(Or just 3) are they separate pocket dimensions within Cyberspace, or one large pocket dimension that changes frequently? Like could he be running through Green Hill one second and the next it's Sky Sanctuary.
