Jacob Carlsson not a pad stack, that’s when you roll around and focus on the pads. Hasek has this thing he did where he sorta spun around and saved it with his hand or he just jumped the other way and there’s no other way to describe it then flopped down. therefore, the Hasek roll was born.

The man is the real deal. He loves Hockey and adds sooooo much excitement to the game. I live near Buffalo and most people around here would turn the sound down on the game when Jeanneret wasn't calling the game on TV and listen to the radio broadcast while watching the game. Buffalo loves Rick and there will NEVER be another announcer like him!!!

  • @MrVirobot

Hasek was one of the BEST unorthodox goalies to ever play the game, bar none. There are some better goaltenders that are sort of "by-the-book" type of goalies, but Hasek defied what was normal while guarding the net. Players just weren't really sure how to solve him at times, since he wasn't predictable. He was also tenacious, and never gave up on the play/shot. It's really interesting, because it was like tenacity/relentlessness versus skill/angles. I think Hasek *almost* represented the "everyman" in his playstyle, and I think the fans could see that, and loved him for it.

  • @helmedon

I remember when I heard he signed with Detroit. We already had a good team full of Hall of Fame players, but this signing just blew my mind. As with the other superstars he wanted to win a Stanley Cup. He wasn't going to do it with the Sabres so he came to Detroit and won one.

If you do his highlights do NHLs version. And hasek just flopped and laid on the ground for half of his highlight reel goals. Brodeur was just a straight up savage. 2 goals as a goal tender all while playing against a more skilled and talented era. Guarantee if you put both of them in the net in there prime against today’s nhl there won’t be a second thought about it. Don’t get me wrong hasek is an amazing goaltender for his time. But nothing compared to Martin.

Dominik had this otherworldly 6th sense of knowing where the puck was 24/7. His goaltending was raw subjective talent moreso than his overwhelming objective skill. He was born to defend a goal. This is why he was and is the best goaltender in the NHL; people have come close to beating him, but no one has.
