Hey Ron. As you know, I have been a fan of your channel for a while and I have found your opinion on shows to be rather refreshing and unique. But above all, I loved that you championed the underdog show, you stuck it out for the season and gave it a go. But here you give up on a show after for episodes?. I find that very disappointing. I'm half way through season 2 and I have to tell you, you missed the mark on this one. As others have said, the first 4 episodes are their own thing. A little detective arc, setting up the world and introducing the characters. The real story starts in episode 5, and when Sean Bean appears in season 2...it really is quite something. I haven't been so engrossed in a show in a long while. I see that you haven't posted anything in almost a year. Maybe you abandoned the channel and burnt out. I hope your okay. But if you get the chance, I do recommend you check out Snowpiercer again...with fresh eyes.

Many people left thinking that it was gonna be a crime-solving show. Trust me, it isn't. It's a setup (and a smart one at that), introducing us properly to characters all over the train as well as the world they live in, mainly for people like me that are new to this premise. Starting the ending of episode 4 there will be many very interesting plottwists and honestly, this show has just turned into one of the best shows that are currently live. You really are too biased to already quit at episode 4.

It's a system that MAKES sense for keeping stability maybe have 1st class be an award for hard work or great contribution, or FOR senior leadership, instead of those who funded the train, post-departure. It's a system based on the Rigidity of society, Unlike Layton who promotes Socialism? I guess we know, it's meant to be a democratic system, but you know they kinda... Became leaders without an election, live in the Engine, have all the power. Sure, he “Mended” The class divides, and with the revolution killing people of course... New Openings were created. With the Tailes filling them. But this doesn't make much sense, for a society, the carrot, and the stick which promotes Hard work and Better Living over the Worse living for EVERYONE, method, that Layton loves. It's a system that shouldn't be stable, I AGREE with Willford, on the class system, Maybe not for 1st class doing nothing. But it provides A) A Goal for everyone B) A system that is Rigid and Stable, Which promotes hard working, Something that IS needed considering the fact for the last 8 years the world has been frozen over. Layton, provides equal benefits for all, if not for his plot armour, I suspect a second revolution would have happened with the arrest of Willford, someone that has a cult-followng rightly so he DID build the last trains on earth. With the Second and Even some parts of 3rd feeling their current living is unsatisfactory, I mean after all their rations took a HUGE hit, after Layton took over, even if it wasn't his fault directly, he would take the blame. It's a thriller Drama Show, and it does that well, but in the depth of the show Layton would likely not stay leader for long. I mean he would have huge support from tailes, but the 3rd and 2nd class, are wildly different in education, and life-style, they provided something the tailes didn't Qualifed Personnel. TLDR: Layton, wouldn't stay in power, After all Willford has a cult-following, as a man who DID come back from the dead, with society frozen over and the Unmoving tier-ed level system, Order was maintained. The only distrupters were the tailes, who felt they were injusticed, But admitally... THEY DID KINDA BREAK ONTO THE LAST TRAIN, WITHOUT TICKETS, AND THE FACT THAT THE TRAIN YOU KNOW, HAS A SOLID STRUCTURE BASED ON HAVING 1st, 2nd, and 3rd having tailes who aren't qualified is dumb, they are the dredges of society.

I mean the movie is a staple of dystopian cinema due to it's gritty nature and almost hopeless atmosphere. The show to me at least is just a drama that takes place after the apocalypse, the villain is evil but not evil enough, the train basically plays no part to the overall story despite being the main gimmick, and I really hate the show. But like if others like it it's fine, the show is a completely different genre of media, and just as people who like the show more don't get why people like the movie, I will honestly never understand the appeal of the show l.

And if you really think the show is about a detective story, you seriously need to watch more, that shit gets dropped real quick. After that it's a beautiful web of fighting for freedom like in the movie, finding a balance of power without the whole train collapsing, and don't even get me started on season 2. "Gets cancelled halway through", the show just got renewed a second time, so I would strongly suggest you give it another try, since everything the film tried to do so cartoonish bad gets addressed in the show with much more nuance. Without spoilering too much, arms get taken but not without remorse, the train gets taken over but not through slaughtering everyone... I fucking love it.

This show is worth your attention and it gets much better after episode 4, how can you review the whole show based on less than half the episodes? No it’s not as atmospheric as the film but this show expands on the themes of the movie while the world building (predictably) is far better, given the additional time afforded by a tv show format. The murder is really irrelevant to the main story of this show, and it’s funny you think they drag will out the mystery because this show actually answers a few big mysteries within just 1 season and it, generally, has great narrative momentum. I like that you bring up Hannah because I thought Hannah was terrible in season 1 (have not watched season 2). That’s actually a show with the issues your ascribing to Snowpiercer, as Hannah stretched a thin premise with some weird tangents. Not to mention the action was really poorly filmed and lacked any sort of impact. Hannah is about as generic a show as they come.

Taking away that in the series, has ppl beeing unable to develope more common sence skill as their development of characters and so on. Here's a comment from someone who hasn't seen the original movie: This show is bad. Real bad. I'm surprised that this is in top ten watched show on Netflix in my country. Why I think it's bad, is because i think the characters are over the top corny and stereotyped. The plot is so god damn predictable and sometimes it doesn't know what it tries to be. It brings nothing new, nothing surprising, nothing to be excited for. The plot was promising at first, and it would have been something, but I'm kinda ashamed that I gave this show seven episodes to prove itself.

To me the show seemed a lot like The 100: Watchable as long as you're high as a kite and got plenty of booze. The actors perform fine concidering their characters do more 180's than a J.J. Abrams's Star Wars bad guy, they go bad faster than a season 8 GoT Khaleesi. Luckily they crammed in more smart and funny 'strong woman' than a reboot of Ghost Busters to shut all our white-male-mansplaning mounths (yes, the word is now actually being used on tv too).

If it's not the story that's bad, it's how this show presents the actual train. In the movie the spaces really looked like they would fit in train compartments. Here they are just HUGE rooms that in no way would fit in a train compartment. Also how does everyone travel back and forth hundreds of compartments like it's nothing? The Tail is like the last hundred(?) compartments? So that would mean you need to travel 700-800 compartments from the front to reach there?? They did show a small train type thing within the bottom area of the train in the first episode to travel.. don't tell me that entire train basically has a subway inside it?

Sorry yeah, one of the factors of the series is that it takes time. The series moves in phases, exactly after episode 4 or 5 it got loads of more interesting afterwards. Why start a (Mostly) ranting review about a series you havent even finished yet. Series take time, thats why there are episodes. I promise you, if you continue you'll definitely enjoy it! Snowpiercer 2020 also did flesh out the train more, it is more focussed on the novels rather then the movie. (Le Transperceneige)So yeah, it is a different story. I believe the novels also start with a murder mystery. See it as a moving comic rather then a motion picture. Its just different. The murder mystery (Which ofcourse it would always been better if they wrote a new concept themselves...) was used to show around the train first. Which places are important, who is important, so that later on the series you will not get questions like, "Wait where is this? How did they get there now..." It is a undertoned explaination of 2020's Snowpiercer Transport. Which In my opinion, is a great idea. But as I mentioned already, it would have been even better if a new concept around this "tour" was written. And honestly what I always tell people, you just have to like the taste of Series/Films like these. The Sci Fi Dystopian style isnt for everyone. "Dystopian", is just a detail around a movie or series. It really doesnt have to be clearly a factor of the story, it is made clear once, and you should understand that this isnt a lovely peacefull earth or world they are in. Anyways, just watch it yourselves. Clear out your mind, and write down your own review as you watch it. I hate it how many people get so influenced (and this isnt hate to you Binge, I love your vids!) after someone on the internet said some thing they didnt like about a movie or series. The whole magic of a story usually falls down with it as soon as those wiped viewers take their time to watch it. Its a shame, I loved it so far! I am very excited for season 2.

If you like the premise of a world confined in a train and the social problems that arises, ie class war, revolution, etc, then you'll like the TV show. It does such a better job of fleshing out the world, it feels dynamic, many different parts playing in one big story, as opposed to the one sided tale from the film, not to mention it does rid of some of the more stupid ideas the film had, ie the kids and their purpose.

BOY you don't want to watch ep. 5, they just keep ruining it , I'm kinda glad I found this video bc I was so angry at how bad this show is. I've lost track on the times i have found myself asking WHY, why did this character do this or that, like why did she reveal that she was wilford on the first like 20 min of the first episode, and why is she even wilford what's the purpose of the change, why didn't she killed layton and put him in the drawer instead, why did the people in the tail in the first fight switch the corpse from the old man with a living guy just for a surprise attack, when they could have easily still surprised the guards in some other way, why did they make a literal child involved in a deadly fight when someone else could have done it in her place, just so they could have the scene where someone gets their arm frozen, but even then the child was unnecessary. I know I might be nitpicking rn but this show frustrates me so much, the pacing is awful, the charachters are boring, and their motivation is unclear sometimes specially with the "villan".It's all over the place unlike the movie where everything was cohsive and meaningful. I wasn't even expacting it to be good and I'm still so disappointed. So bad, do not recomend. There, that's my rant about snowpiercer, thanks for coming to my TEDtalk
