I picked up my garden gloves, the long black dog leash slithered to the floor, I almost screamed. I hadn't even gotten through the intro. And I'm not afraid of snakes. That's how jumpy your delightfully scary voice makes me. ❤

Dear Ed - thank you so much for giving is the gift of a new story on Boxing Day. it's been a rather bleak christmas and i just want things back to "normal" lockdown. so it was so good to hear your voice and know you were recording it just a few hours ago. so glad you're here. . . i think i feel more in tune with you than other readers cause you're in the business - even though you're in California and my Dad was on Broadway on the road with musicals. have a wonderful New Year :} 🕊🌲🕯✨

I'm curious about your father. I prefer (as you may have noticed) NOT to get very "personal" with these very public channel texts. If you care to share a bit of the story of your father, email me at edwardfrench06@hotmail.com. Wishing you a happier new year. E.E.F.

Can confirm, the head illustration that scared me is also from the series of Walsingham illustrations. "The empty house became an odd curiosity, until Horace Gunn spent a night there. He woke to see a human head, covered with blood, floating above his bed. It vanished and Gunn ran from the room so terrified he could not scream."

Thank you Edward . Not least for having , once and for all , disposed of the snobbish myth so beloved of many ( TOO many ! ) British listeners that these English ghost stories can only be read properly by an English born reader. Having endured a number of them being intoned in dreary flat monotones by deluded individuals who seem to think they are the new James Mason solely by virtue of being born in Britain I have no hesitation in placing you in the first rank of narrators. And lest there be any doubts .....I am British ! So they can put that in their pipes !!

  • @FrenchEdward06

I hope British listeners can enjoy a Yankee reader. I love all U.K. authors I narrate on the Fiction Fantastique Channel. I might even prefer them to many of the American authors. Their ghost stories are particularly funny and scary. Shirley Jackson's works may be the only American one to compete with them . Recently, on Varney #15 I tried to read Admiral Bel as a sort of Richard Burton voice, but it came out more like Raymond Burr (if you know who that is LOL). reading/recording is recreation for me. Admission is free. No one has to listen. I'm having fun and perhaps even doing justice to a few of these thing. Thank you. Cheers. E.E.F.

Yes , I do know Raymond Burr. .Although I occasionally get him confused with Lee J Cobb - not so much the Voice but the general hulking presence he brought to any scene. Two greats from a Golden generation. !
