BS, stay away from these snails. You will have 100's within weeks without a way to control them. There are much better snails for true planted tanks. The tank he is showing is not what i would call a planted tank. Go with ramshorn or similar. Very easy to control numbers and you can enjoy watching them during daylight hours.
Trumpet snails gross Way to invasive just bought copper to wipe them out
I've had a hang on back filter on a little 10g tank that's been running for nearly three years with these snails with no problems so far. The snails arrived by accident on a plant but I love them too!
I've had them in both my tanks for years. Never known them to be a problem. They do reproduce frequently, but they've never taken over my tank and I enjoy watching them attach themselves to the sides of the tank. They are ALWAYS welcome in my tanks!
Thanks for the great video. Came here worrying about the amount of snails I had and left learning that they are the reason why my sand is looking so clean with minimal effort! 👍
There is no such thing as a "pest snail". They are all great. ALL of them.
They mostly come out at night... mostly. ;-) When I was new to the hobby, snails bothered me. But, I have learned to embrace them for their benefits and how to manage their numbers when they seem to be taking over.
I'm sorry but I hate all (pest) snails. I know that's my opinion but I'm answering because this is what the video is about. I had pest Ramshorn snails hitch a ride on plants I bought once. Reducing feeding is what everyone says. I took the fish out and COMPLETELY stopped feeding for a month. My plants were not decaying. And they STILL reproduced! So, I think the reducing feeding is BS. Now I can definitely see them exploding to hundreds with plenty of food but these things are hardy and will live through not feeding them. I have switched to tissue culture plants and enjoy my heavily planted snail free aquarium lol. Thanks.
Love these guys, every new tank I start I use these guys to cycle, feed the tank for 2 to 3 months before I even think about planting...they will turn what ever substrate you use into planting media....I got a few systems I've been running them in for almost 10 years, they definitely get bigger
you are right :) mts are great, the only problem I have with them is that they uproot some small carpeting plants, like lilaeopsis brasiliensis or eleocharis parvula, but perfect for bigger plants line amazon swords or any other heavy root feeder plants :)
Each new tank I start has these little guys at the forefront with how much versatility they bring to planted tanks. They're cute and make it oh so easy to have a successful plant filled tank.
Great snail. I love them, can't get enough of them..
I love my trumpet snails, also love the kids voice in the background is shows how really you are
I've had them for year's and I couldn't be happier with them!!
love these guys!
I just got some today! Excited for them to do their thing.😊
Every time I start up a planted tank. These guys always hitchhike in. I've just always assumed they come as a package deal, wheather you want them or not haha. I've grown to appreciate them and don't mind at all anymore.
"Before I was so cutely interrupted" ^_^ Great segment, helped me decide on getting these guys.
I had always wanted them because they are actually a pretty snail. But had trouble getting any because they are invasive, the guy at the aquarium store told me, so he wouldn’t sell me any of his! So! I went to our lake here and actually got some while collecting some plants! Mine get to an inch long! They do uproot my plants though, no big deal, at least they don’t eat healthy plants like some other snails. And they have been keeping my population of ramshorn snails down. Didn’t know they did that. I like them a lot!
Love trumpet snails 😍
