Pond snails are awesome cleaners though! Also great for live plants too.

Agreed! As long as you don't overfeed they don't over reproduce.

The only "bad" snails that I think are Columbian ramshorn and spixi snail, they both eat plants but all the common species I find are very beneficial pond, Japanese trapdoor, ramshorn, etc. and my Malayasian trumpet snails DEVOUR algae!

i have a colony of the Columbian ramshorns. nothing bothers them. mine live with mbuna and some others live with a geophagus. i even have one in my 72 gallon with a jack dempsey, lots of catfish and a gourami. back at the store they lived with severums and a decent size tigrinus catfish

I actually like pond snails. They clean really well (even gunk on surface water that most other snails don't touch) and as long as you don't overfeed your fish they don't multiply much. I like to feed my fish live foods because it prevents overfeeding the snails and it's best for the fish. Also, because they tend to be smaller than most other snails, they can get into crevices and areas that the larger snails can't fit. That said, I recently tried mystery snails and they are pretty good cleaners too in my larger sized tank.

I enjoy rams horn snails. Have a bunch in my jungle betta tank. They keep the algae down. They won’t overwhelm a tank unless you are over feeding. They clean my plants and eat dead leaves I may miss. Best of all they are all named Gary 🐌.

I have two freshwater nerite snails in my 16 gallon and they did a wonderful job at keeping the wood in the tank clean from algae. Not sure what soecies they are but one has zebra markings while the other is red with cream-colored stripes. And yes they do leave a lot of eggs around the tank. Only problem with them for me though is that they don't spend a lot of time in the front glass of the aquarium where algae has started to grow.

@9:05 if they have "big ears" it's the large eared radix (I can't spell the latin binomial). They only lay 20 eggs/ sac in a parallel egg sac that is too thick for fish to eat. They are *great* for cleaning off damaged plants. They need veggies if there's no damaged plants. If the snail is the smaller bladder snail, there are breeders looking for that silver morph. Bladders are also great at transitioning emerged grown aquarium plants to submersed growth. They both eat softer algaes. Hercules snails will do the same as the above, and eat most algaes. Chopstick snails will function like MTS, but reproduce slower. Stress will produce population explosions, I rarely have snails get out of balance. My red ramshorns eat the algae, and clean up damaged plants to promote new growth. Nerites will not eat supplemental foods, so they need established tanks with lots og algae. I grow hair algae on purpose for my nerites, and have 2 that are over 12 years old (an live and a zebra).

Hey bro, about a year ago I was ready to go all in on breeding snails and shrimp for profit to potentially fund my aquarium hobby. However location changed rapidly and can't do that kind of thing in 900 square ft lol, but never did enough research to get some exact species but do.you happen to know what snails sell well online? I know there are quite a few. Only bring this up to say maybe some of the kinds you have already breeding could potentially help you find your tank room and more..

Rabbit snails can go for $6 each, however they reproduce much slower than other snails. Every time I sold my trumpet snails I sold out, if you sale in bulk numbers you'll always have buyers. Those trumpet snails and nerite snails are in high demand so you should always be able to sale them, but nerites need salt water to breed.
