His voice is so unsettling here
we lost our four-year-old boy a year ago to cancer; i spent many long nights at his bedside caring for him. the sorrow this song conjures in my heart--beyond all dreams

I’m so very sorry for your loss 💝 The same happens to me when I listen to “I know it’s over” I lost my son 17 years ago when he was just 18 months old. It’s still so very painful.

So sorry to hear that. Omg, Is it hard to hear it today? My heart goes out to you. March, 2 yrs ago, I lost my best friend and thought it would help in the morning process to make a video in remembrance. I did Well I Wonder and Asleep. They came out beautiful but now I cant even hear the two songs.. So sad.
1982. Jesus.
Sounds like Lou Reed covering a Smiths song
According to what Marr says in his autobiography, he played the bass in this song as well.
this is absolutely 100% their best song. i love the smiths so so so much. their lyrics are written as if shakespeare kissed morrisseys pen, like, really. and i think it’s beautiful because though most of their songs aren’t about girls and stuff, when it is, it’s beautiful. it’s not like “she’s pretty” “she’s cute”, it’s like then analyzing her in every way and writing about her life and certain interactions and stuff. AND. especially how much they talk about eyes. this song, jeane, etc etc. beautiful
Original, raw , amazing and soooo addicting!! Repeat

i agree, this one seems so raw and emotional
Finally..... Thank You Dale Hibbert
Wow such a different experience in this form . Their music always makes me breathe . I won’t say how old I was at this point but .... good lord the sadness , the melancholy 😔 the depression The uncertainty.... I could have never done it without them and others
Love the Velvet-y guitar at the end
RIP Albert Finney
Garage Smiths - wow that's pretty raw. Brings back memories of that woofer I had with a tear in it.
rest of the videos are gone, and so goes my life.. :(
I love this with every particle of my being and more.
who knew where this would take them
this is musichistory, thanks a lot. Godspeed Albert Finney
Johnny was 'inspired' by Patti Smith's "Kimberly", it's extremely clear in this version :)

Maybe that's why they called themselves The Smiths.

@@1967born nope, Marr wrote in his autobiography that the name was chosen from a couple of other names proposed by Morrissey because it made clear their intent to be "common", claiming a certain banality in that period where everything was "excessive". They therefore chose the surname most used in England.

Very Velvet Underground...Morrissey even sounds a bit like Nico
August 1982
Johnny sounds like Sterling Morrison here.
Fantastic to hear this piece of musical history. Simon Wolstencroft's drumming though is terrible.
