This is one of the greatest rock songs of all time
RIP Pat DiNizio. One of my favorite voices from back in the day. Too bad the Smithereens were not even more successful.
True blue, american garage rock with a metric ton of soul!
MIke dances his bass parts...freaking awesome player!!
we Miss you So much..RIP Pat..Like an old childhood friend..
2 of my favorites from them love these guys RIP Pat one of the best !!!
Drummer and bass player locked in on every song. Drums are epic and that bass is as well. Add rhythm and lead you get Smithereens. So awesome. Gone but not forgotten. Thanks for this.
Maybe the last time Pat was seen in public without a hat on. Love these guys so much.
we will miss you pat dinizio
Crunchy and full of backbeat Heat and a slap Soul Jam!!!
One of the GREAT rock songs... and bands,
How can those audience members sit there like they’re waiting for a movie to start? Simply one of the best bands EVER!
Pat voice is one I'll never forget love all their songs
Extremely outstanding, true ROCK!
One more time!!! Good God this song is Something from another time!!! What a sound!! What a feel!! Its just Real Rock and Roll!!! I feel energy all over it!!!

Jim Babjaks playing is exellent.
I was working at Tower Records in Mountain View, California in 1989 and played this in store every chance I got... along with RUSH's Presto and The Mission UK's Carved in Sand... Smithereens came into our store as an "instore" and I got to meet the guys briefly, was amazing to say the least being I was 17 and the first kid under 18 to be hired at that store... a female friend co worker gave me some cookies and said to eat just one had no idea why, so on my lunch break I ate them all and well, that was a fun day ;)

I too saw them in Boston and was amazed how loud (Marshall 100w Heads) and hard they rocked for a band that was pigeon-holed as to their Style. Truly a kick-ass garage band that crossed over and had Commercial Success way underrated way influential!

They are the best band every grew up listening to them got their first c d or it might beena cassette awesome ..miss pat so much the leader of the group
I saw them right around this time at Malibu nite club Lido Beach , Long Island NY. It was so friggin loud my ears are still ringing.
Always loved these guys back in the late 80's. Has Weezer ever stated them as influences because I can definitely some parallels ?
Just saw them a few weeks ago - they still rock!
One of the best bands that came a rockin' out of the 90's. Never understood why they broke up. They ROCKED!! Seen them live a few times and they were better live than in the studio. And they actually looked like they were having fun while they played. Many bands these days do not look like they are enjoying themselves while performing. These guys got into it. They were like AC/DC meets The Beatles was the only way to describe their sound. Hoping they will re-unite.

El bajista es una masa! Qué grandes los Smithereens!
Love these guys. Good songs, band, and "hot" American guys from New Jersey!!! I have a crush on the base player!🥰 He is so fun to watch!!!😁😘😏
Check out that stack of Marshall amps!
For Giovanni Garzelloni, They still play live!! Check their website. Probably not as much as in their 20's-30's, but anyone over 50 understands that!!! The original bass player left to pursue other interests, but the new guy is great too....Thrilla....They just put a new album out called 2011, but I can't remember what year it was......2011?....lol Awesome new originals and they did take a break from recording originals to do a couple great cover albums, Beatles and The Who which were both incredible....Check the "Tommy" album for a totally different sound and you'll be amazed. Google the CD's....they're as good or as I think, better than ever!!!
So strange seeing Jim Babjak look like he's playing for .38 Special. Love these guys...they're still just as good live, maybe better.
Amazing
Miss you Pat! I miss the 80"s too!
It's kinda funny I was in my 20 s and 30 s when these guys were hot and I don't remember them! I just seen in a U Tube video. I think it's true 80 s and early 90s rock n roll at its fricken best!!!
very much WHO like..the solo had a lot of Townshendisms...lol
Fucking Carteret, NJ. Gotta love it.
One hell of a song!
Solid rhythm section!

Wow, what a LAME-ASS crowd! I'd be embarrassed to just be sitting there....this song ROCKS! You should be up and jumping around, people! COME ON. I was fortunate to have seen them on this very tour at my college in Tennessee (in April 1990). It was loud and it rocked! Great and very under-rated band, IMO.

@@raindeerprojekt4119 Very cool! In high school in Germany I was in a few attic and basement bands (on the miltary bass there weren't many if any garages, Lol). Not specifically bass at the time, but Paul McCartney was one of my first musical interests - on the radio with Wings and his solo Tug of War may have been the first cassette tape my parents brought. Then with my dad, The Eagles. My dad, brother, and I went to many rock concerts in the 1980s, hard rock and heavy metal. Speaking of Christian Rock, all of my family saw Petra in ca. 1985 at the Mannheim U.S. Air Force base. I get a kick that even Christian Rock is referred to as Contemporary Christian Music, apparently "Rock" is a bad name. 😉 It's obvious to me much of Chris Tomlin's music and basically all of Third Day's music is Christian Rock. One of the praise teams I was in would occasionally play classic rock songs as an intro to worship. Sting is a major bass influence on me. I'm enjoying listening to Cliff Williams in AC/DC. He really helps lay down the groove and cool fills. You mentioned blossoming; I like a lot of branches of Rock. I also love the energetic Motwon music. So many great waking bass lines. I enjoy the hooks and the challenge! Do you have original music and/or covers on your channel?
Thumbs up # 319 from me. My birthday. '63.
