I used to listen to this on repeat while walking 2 miles every day to school. I met a girl one day on one of those walks. She went to a different school. Sometimes we’d share an earpiece, walking shoulder to shoulder listening to this song together. One day I stopped seeing her on my walk and 20 years later I’m still wondering but remembering her grace. Much love Hannah ❤

i think this is the best song to come out of the 90’s. this song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of happiness, sadness, nostalgia and the literal feeling of THE 90’s. to the melody, the lyrics, and over all sound The Smashing Pumpkins truly made a one of a kind song that’ll never be forgotten.

Two bits of trivia: First: while it’s clear Iha is the guy at the convenience store, what’s less obvious is that D’arcy is the grumpy neighbor in curlers calling the cops, *and* Jimmy is the shorter cop that shows up at the store to get donuts Second: “Perfect” is a sequel video to this, where we see these kids in their college years dealing with more adult problems.

I was born in the 60's, grew up in the 70's, came of age in the 80's, got hooked on crack in the 90's, got clean in the 2000's. This song to me is so bittersweet, the innocence of growing up, hanging with your buddies, discovering yourself, discovering the world, needing love, living love, opportunities golden, opportunities wasted, memories made, memories forgotten. Just following the path of life, trying to make a proud future.

This song is the definition of nostalgia. I miss when I was younger, and I wish I could’ve cherished the time I had before I lost my chance. I’m pretty sure this is something we all deal with. As kids we wish we were older to be able to do what we want, but never realize that all we want is already there.

yeah honestly, I mean Im only 12 but I´m scared of growing up because I don´t wanna grow older and since I had a lot of trauma and I am mentally and physically older than most kids my age its hard to stay a kid and have fun. So now that I just realized this a few days ago I´ve been trying to cherish my childhood. But eventually I´ll have to. oh well. I just wanna have fun and not want the rest of my childhood to be a nightmare like some of it was.

Not really. The styles are not that different from today and everything in the video is exactly what kids do today -- even with the red cups. The video has a little bit of a retro feel, but it had that same feel when it was new because it was designed to evoke 1979 without all the very groovy clothing styles from the era (except for the cops and the corner store). The car is from 1972 or 73 -- no kid was lucky enough to have a car like this when the song came out. It was retro then.

Popenut! Yeah now it's just strippers and woman in their underwear dancing around like idiots and people bragging about how much money they have. I wish I grew up in the 90s, because from the way I have seen the 90s, everything looked so much better, and everything worked better, music was 100 times better than it is now, clothes in the 90s were a LOT better than they are now because all kids wear is skinney jeans and joggers and think they are all cool and crap. I've seen pictures of my mom when she was a teen and things look a lot better and the style does too. Not only that but FOOD has gone down the drain, all the food we get now days is filled with chemicals and crap to make them look better and apparently taste better, especially McDonald's where their food in and out of their factory isn't even really food because they put so much crap in it. I just saying I wish I grew up in the 90s.

Many of us really didnt understand the beauty of our youth. At the time we mostly dreamed of hurrying and finally growing the heck up so we could do what we wanted. Now as adults we at times yearn for some of the days of our past. The first girl that ever showed any interest in me ( an ugly duckling i considered myself to be) when i was 14 was the sweetest nicest girl. I came from a rougher home without much love and I considered myself quite unlikeable. She proved to me....that someone could actually like me. She ended up being the first love of my life. Unfortunately she died a few years after it all at only the age of 18. Now decades later i still think of her and her sweet spirit. How she had to have been an angel to like a misfit like me. Especially at such a crucial developmental moment of my adolescents where acceptance and love is exactly what i needed. I can still so clearly hear her soft voice from our childhood. Sad but i try to look back at the memory more with gratitude today. I'm just glad that it ever even happened. Sending strength and positive vibes to everyone who read.

6 months ago today my dads Toyota Landcruiser was in a car accident and the car was totaled. It was a perfectly preserved 2002 that was flawless. It could have gone another 100-200 thousand miles. Losing a car is nothing like losing a person, but It makes me sad that it was the car I grew up in and my family loved very much. My dad has always worked a lot and most of the times I spent with him were in that car. This was one of the songs he showed me while I was a lot younger. The road trips, memories, and surfing adventures can never be the same.

This song is too much man. Too much nostalgia. Too much sadness and happiness all in one. Makes you wonder what the hell this life is really about and why we are even here. But also makes you get the feeling there is a reason we are here and it’ll all make sense when we die. I’m not even depressed. I love life. But apart of me can’t wait to die to see the truth. Weird. Life is weird.

This is a song about nostalgia, and I remember laying on my friend's bed late at night (or early morning) after partying, and this song came on the radio. I remember thinking, someday this song is going to be nostalgic when I'm old, and here I am. That night we had a similar party, furniture in the pool and all. It gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it now, and I pine badly for the 90s. You kids really missed out on a great time to be free and unconcerned.
