wanhee, your approach to health and fitness should really be the standard on youtube: giving us the facts, the science and the empathy towards our daily struggles. we’re not superhumans: we fail, we try, we succeed - and sometimes we fail again. adding guilt to that process is super detrimental to our mental health. as a queer man, i’m used to being tricked into self loathing and guilt into every aspect of my life - including my fitness journey. thank you for addressing this on each video. life shouldn’t be this constant guil-trip process. cheers from brazil ❤️
Wanhee, we needed this video. Love your approach of balancing practicality "live" and fitness "discipline" . Too many fitness gurus telling you to stop drinking completely, stop eating sugars completely, and so on. Keep up the great content!!
Glad to see that I’ve been practicing all these tips already myself: - My fav drinks are whiskey and red wine - I eat high protein meals with or before a night of drinking - If I’m getting lit tonight, I’ll be sure to fast and leave calories for alcohol.
Amazing fitness approach! I like how you made me not feeling guilty. I started my diet from 4 months ago, and Thank God I discovered your videos! Now I lost 13.8 kg and still managed to eat mcdonalds/ drinking sometimes.. I really appreciate your teaching
I struggle with this a lot. This video definitely came at the right time
I love your balanced approach. Working hard in gym is wonderful, but there are a lot of pleasures in the rest of the life that cannot be strictly denied. Keep going with your Channel!
THE INNOVATION on this channel. Keep it up brother!
I have been following you since some weeks. Great content and very helpful insights. As a person who enjoys a small glass of Woodford Reserve Whiskey, but also is in a cutting period, I am happy that you made a video for this topic.
I just found your channel this weekend and have been watching some of your vids, really enjoy the presentation. I'm just starting my journey of getting healthier and putting on some muscle after many years of coasting on being tall and thin. But the years are beginning to catch up and it's time for a change. Subbed.
All super sensible advice! I liked your emphasis on basically enjoying life - I get that for some people being at peak fitness all the time is how they do that, but for others being fit is a means to an end. And that end can be to enjoy a few drinks (or sometimes a lot!) without excessive guilt or damage because you're on point fitness-wise the vast majority of the time.
Definitely a hard reality to face. Have had lots of nights of binge drinking which led to binge eating all right before bed. Shit sleep. High heart rate. Too warm. Then feel set back all week trying to fox what you undid. Viscous cycle.
Another great video Wanhee!
Thanks for the great information! I will remember this. You’re the best 😊
I’m not an alcohol consumer but these principles work good with soda 🥤too. I’ve been able to lose a significant amount of fat whilst drinking it still. For example, I’ve intuitively been following that high protein technique. You feel so satiated by the end of a meal that it allows you to drink in moderation without your stomach getting carried away.
Thanks for the video and perfect timing for me. Haven’t had a drink in about 2 months. Had a rare date night with my wife last night (3 young kids at home) and just enjoyed myself with a few fancy cocktails, a juicy ribeye, mashed potatoes, and even a dessert I didn’t really need! It was great to live a little and have fun. Got up this morning and took the dog for a walk and got right back on track!

That's the way to do it
another epic wanhee drop, at the perfect time, although i would add a great brandy to the top tier, cause im anglo indian and I totally agree with the knowing your limits part; I regularly see guys getting shit faced becoming functional alcoholics doing shit not in their own control causing havoc which is never good
Great vid. As someone who used to binge drink often (at least a few days a week) these are all helpful tips. I haven’t drank in 3 weeks and am now in the best shape of my life at 47. Blood pressure down 20pts too. Took only a few months to get here but it wasn’t just one thing, it was a lifestyle change.
Thank you. I know drinking isn’t the healthiest choice, but it’s okay. I’ll treat it like my cheat meal - a little time away from the disciplined decisions, but not so much that one weekend destroys a week of progress.
Just be careful with tonic as it's loaded with sugar, unless you specifically go for a zero sugar tonic. I would go for a vodka, lime & soda instead. Other than that great content as always Wanhee!
Thumbnail goes hard
ai thumbnail looks dope af 👌👌👌
I like what you said, especially toward the end. But I have to defend the Negroni, which you singled out. It’s only 190 calories. It definitely has some sugar from the Campari. But there’s no added sugar or fruit juice, so it’s still fairly lean (by cocktail standards).
This is a great video, especially with Halloween coming up. Your final step is the most important one. Plan ahead. Do a bunch of cardio in the morning, and eat at a higher deficit before and the day after drinking. You'll realise you will hardly have any effect on your fat loss progress. Gotta say vodka with zero sugar mixer is the best drink for weight loss though.
I’d really reconsider your advice on the gin and tonic. It’s astounding how much sugar is in tonic. Those trick people into thinking they’re “healthy” alternatives when they’re just as bad as rum and coke.
Nice Informative video
1:43 actually for me if I have a small amount of ice cream I don't crave more because it would be too much sugar since I have a good diet and I just want water after ice cream instead of more ice cream
Of all the people on the planet, you talk to yourself more than anyone… make sure you’re saying the right things
Love from France
That thumbnail tho. 😂
what about sake (rice wine ) i realy enjoy drinking it
WANHEEE! Why do you always make videos about losing fat?? make a video for skinny guys plssss. you're the only fitness coach I trust.
hey man i used to really like your vids, the aesthetically pleasing footage and the fitness advice was pretty good too but how long do u think you can keep getting away with making the same video again and again
Drinking earlier in the day so it’s not right before bed helps sleep quality vs. drinking late at night.
Doesn't tonic have a ton of sugar in it?

About the same concentration as a can of soda 😬
I get you with everything you said except the gin and tonic being top tier. I love me a gin and tonic, but tonic is extremely sugary. Just checked the can in my fridge, 35g sugar. Literally the same amount as a can of coke. It may taste very light and refreshing, but gin and tonic is like drinking a soda with added simple syrup. Sugar + sugar. Not unlike your beer + fish n' chips.

Agree. That’s why they make diet tonic, with crappy artificial sweeteners.
But I feel that beer is not as bad for sleep and may even help. Maybe it's the hops, which are a natural sedative... And let's not forget the genetics factor in physical aesthetics. Some people just don't have to try as hard to keep a good figure! I think there needs to be a combo of diet and genetics approach. If the two clash, then you get caught up in this discouraging loop that never gets you where you want to be.
Ah but beer is sooooo good 😂
gin and tonic isnt that great. tonic is high is sugar. usually in the form of high fructose corn syrup. i think you meant club soda.
In Germany we say beer gives you strength
I don't drink alcohol
You store cookies in the fridge? 😂
Happy to avoid all these problems by smoking weed and never drinking
Lol, i just started uni, guess its bottom tier for me
A single 12 oz serving of tonic water has 30 grams of sugar. It is not a diet drink.

He basically said all alcohol was sugar and carbs fermented. He’s just giving the lesser of evils.
I just drink socially, I don't socialize very often.
Enjoy ur cocktail or whiskey on the rockets in balance. Non of us r getting out of here alive. Live! But don’t become an alcoholic 😂
A Negroni is like 160 calories, about as much as a glass of red wine.
Respect to the people who have this discipline. I found no matter what whenever I drink it was like a hamster on a wheel for my fitness journey. Work hard all week on weekend go crazy and it would basically destroy all work I did. Plus I found once I was buzzed I didn’t really care anymore. Moderation is key. But I know myself and I’m gonna turn up if I start lol. Also I don’t think you can undo 2 weeks of work in one night of binging. Unless your only at 100-200 calorie deficit that be hard to do. You’ll gain a bunch of water weight. But even gaining a true pound of fat in a day is extremely difficult.
0 alcohol is best

Idk why im watching this video because recently I decided to completely stop drinking alcohol
Hey Wanhee, just some fredback: earlier this year the WHO stated how there is no level of alcohol that is considered safe for our health. What you mentioned about the studies who focused on the benefits of red wine, that also was contradicted by the WHO

Wanhee I know your experimenting with different types of thumbnails but tf if this 😭
don’t know why i’m watching this even tho i can’t drink alcohol, and i wouldnt drink it anyway even if i could (cause it tastes bad)
I like your spirit, but alcohol is never good nor healthy. You can enjoy it occasionally but don't fool yourself into thinking it is healthy 😜. And tonic is a high-calorie soda.

The smartest way to drink alcohol is to not drink it at all.
this video is totally useless for absolute hunks like me since we are arrogant teetotalers😎
Just avoid alcohol in general alcohol is the 👿👹😈
