The Smallest Truck In America Is A Big Huge Deal | 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Looking for a truck that'll fit in your garage with ease? How about a more practical AWD crossover? Somewhere to stash dirty items other than the trunk? There's a Santa Cruz for you. It remains to be seen whether non-truck shoppers will be interested in the pickup designed specifically for them, or if this will remain an American market novelty. Either way, it's certainly worth a long look... But so is that upcoming Ford Maverick...

Good review - RE: the plywood the wheel wells are designed for a 4x8 sheet of plywood to rest on top of them as you touched on - what you didn't mention was that the tailgate will also lock at a partially open position that is level with the wheel wells thus making it very easy to haul 4x8 sheets.

Got my Limited 2 days ago. Absolutely love it! Bought it during a snow storm. AWD worked perfectly and never had problems moving around. Bought it almost 3 hours away and the drive home was comfortable and quiet. I was surprised by how solid it feels. It feels heavy and secure but is also very nimble and there was no rattling, squeaking when driving through all the snow and over snow ruts. Love this vehicle.

Thanks Alex for a great review. I purchased Santa Cruz Limited a couple weeks ago and absolutely love it. I've never owned a truck before, but this doesn't feel like a truck while driving at all, which made for an easy switch. It drives like a crossover and the bed is big enough for my camping trips, carrying bicycles, Home Depot runs, climbing gear etc. I know that some people would prefer to get a Ridgeline for that price, but that is great that we have that choice. For me personally Santa Cruz provides enough utility and even more expensive top trim Ridgeline doesn't have ventilated seats and 360 cameras and those are must have features for me.

I understand why most folks draw parallels to the old El Caminos/Sprints, Rancheros, Rampages/Scamps and Holden Utes, but those were 2-door, 2 to 3 seaters, had low ground clearances, and were really "re-bodied" or rehashed coupes, hatchbacks & sedans with a truck bed. They were not 4-door, 5 seaters, with 9 inches of ground clearance, plus a totally new body design.

Holy crap what a review ! I needed to watch others just to see how great a job you do. Exact length and width dimensions of the bed not oh about 4', delineating which safety features are on each trim level. then the specs of each trim level outstanding job. I love this thing and might end up with one though for what you get I think the SEL Premium gives me what I need. The turbo engine but 18" tires and maybe that smaller info screen that apparently still has wireless capability that the larger one does not. I wish someone could tell me if you can adjust the sensitivity of those safety features as they can be pretty obnoxious. My friends newer Frontier stops him from backing up when it sees a blade of grass and he claims he can't turn it off. Another friends expensive 2021 bmw X5 lets you adjust the level of correction. I am guessing its either on or off here since this is not a top of the line luxury vehicle ? A dealer told me these are selling sight unseen before they arrive on the lots here in Colorado and I believe him. Need to see those colors in person too.

Interesting! But airing down a unibody vehicle tire 4 psi below manufacturer recommendations sounds like a recipe for irregular tire wear and lower fuel economy.

I own a new F150 Lariat FX4, 2.7L Ecoboost, and I run 2-3 pounds less than 35psi, which gives me much better handling with no load. Being Off road FX4 version it has very stiff suspension but very good for towing my travel trailer at 8000lbs with loaded bed is like it has absolutely noting on the Hitch, it doesn't even break a sweat. Hyundai has been throwing cheap models out like there is no tomorrow, what's next a space shuttle, oh, hang on, if they can copy one then they may LOL.

I'm in love! It's kind of a shame that they couldn't do a midgate like the Baja or Avalanche, considering they didn't pull off the extending bed from the concept, but this is exactly up my alley. I just really wish it was EV, Ioniq 4 or whatever. The plug in the bed is nice, but V2L would've been even better. Bonus: since I'm single and antisocial, and only weigh 155 with a 13 pound dog, I get more payload for toys and amenities for glamping. Dog bed for the tent? Dog bed for the tent. Separate coolers for food and drinks? Separate cooler for food and drinks.

I justify my '23 Santa Cruz by retiring my sedan and pickup truck for just one vehicle. But I absolutely needed my old pickup for hauling 5 gallon jerrycans of gasoline.. I didn't want to put them in my Sonata, even in the trunk. And I was paying full taxes and insurance on a pickup truck I only drove five or ten miles a year. So it is the answer to my prayers. No gasoline fumes on lawn mowing day! And as comfortable as my Sonata ( OK 98% But I'm happy)
