It's the opposite phone is getting smaller. Take a look phone under 2019 like xperia xa ultra, mate 20 x, xiaomi mi max, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy J Max, etc these phones are much larger than today's phones. It's just that phone under 150mm tall is rare

I don't miss it, it's one of the worst features on phones these days, Wireless way better.

Glad to see Asus keeping these kind of phone alive. It has some unique features which most companies tend to remove these days , for example charger, headphone jack , and compact factor. Sony amd Asus remains the only 2 rare brands which give 3.5 mm jack in their flagships . those who want a headphone jack knows its importance. I am a person who uses wired IEMs to listen to music and for me this phone is a dream come true

When I went shopping for my most recent phone I looked at what was in my price range (I am in a family plan with 2 other people) I knew nothing about cell phone so I randomly choice Samsung's S20 FE. I don't game so it's a basic phone for listening to music or watching movies nothing fancy. When I went to the Verzion store the nice lady there said Phones are getting taller, thinner and holding a lot more storage. Judging by what I've seen SD card slots will be the next to go. I had to buy a phone jack adapter for this phone. I don't need it but its a back up when my Bluetooth earbuds die or charging.

I remember buying Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in 2014 with 5.7 inch display and that considering "big" today smartphone with a 5.9-inch display considering "small" what a strange time to live in

Although it sounds strange, the Zenfone is smaller compared to the Note 3... Note 3: 151.20 x 79.20 mm Zenfone: 146.5 x 68.1 mm The frames of the old smartphones were huge.

Also the form factor changed. Old phones used 16:9 relation, newer phones use 19:9 or even 21:9 screens. This way industry can make bigger diagonals screens without enlarge the total width.

as i see its a very powerful phone, but as any new phone out here - its lacking thermal stability and falls back to throttling

I love my Zenfone 8. Like the compact size, flagship chip, and headphone jack. Hope ASUS continues the series.

I think they discontinued it because of low demand but I'm not sure I think Marquess said it on the wayform podcast

I just hope that Asus will keep on being low profile on their ZenFone and save the craziness for their ROG line. Will definitely miss the discontinued ZenFone Max Pro series, but judging at the market I think it's better for them to just focus on making high end phones

Right? Zenfone and the word Zen itself should indicate the fact the low profile of the phone series while RoG line is where all the fancy stuff gone by.

The videos were so stable without any gimbal which is amazing and the size of this phone is not small it's perfect, it just need an optimization so the games can run buttery smooth. Overall very good phone and it also offer 3.5mm jack so for me it is a perfect phone and don't have to worry about big and Chunky size.

Game perfemance is understandable because it's a really small phone, they have very limited space to work on the cooling system.

I used to have the Asus Zenfone 5z, they have improved so much

For what we believe to be a downgraded version of the famous ROG Phone 6/7, this phone packs quite a lot of power in such a small package. Just avoid going hardcore with it, though, since it doesn't have its own cooler(but perhaps there'll be aftermarket parts for it?). That said, phones like this can do much more than what you can think of. For example, high-quality photographing, video making, or even, musics(the 3.5mm ear/headphone jack is there for that reason)... Sky's the limit! I always love red, by the way. Really wish for custom-made colors; fiery red ROG Phone would look awesome!

No gimbal, no selfie stick etc. Just the phone with HyperSteady stabilization set to maximum.

Thanks for unboxing, but I think Zenfone 9's design was better, but it didn't have Asus logo, and it is very good play at Minecraft!

people act like this is some small miracle, but the s23 regular is 6.1 (and so to are some regular versions of high end phones otherwise) vs the 5.9 here. I guess if you dont use anything but the XL/Pro versions - but no ones making a big thing out of the S23 or phones of that size.

I would say this phone it's the best option if you are just using for Apps and Multimedia, But if you are using for gaming *Intense*, Then this phone is not suitable for that, Judging by the small size and the temperature while gaming doesn't make sense if you are looking for stable gaming experience with normal temperature (Well IDK if there's future update for it). But you already know right, the smaller the phone is, the more hot the temperature is. (And causing frame drop due to the Temperature Safety for it's Phone)
