I saw this film, decades ago; when I was just graduating from young catholic school. 25 years ago(Give or Take), we watched this film as a class video. It reminded us that despite the world’s twisted ways, one can find solace; if one puts in enough.

What a beautiful story and such an amazing stunning ending The man who bought the donkey is Joseph and the donkey is carrying Mary his wife who is with child( Saviour Jesus) and they are going to Bethlehem

OMG i had completely forgotten about this . this was something i used to rent out from the video store several times back when i was a kid back in the late 70s i was about 4 years old . just seeing the thumbnail , i started remembering the song small one for sale , and who the boy sold the donkey to .Wow , this is for me great memories . i'm gonna find the time later to watch this . this has put a smile on my face .Great post @DDF:Film Magazine it's made my day. 👍😃

Humorously enjoyable.

I remember watching this one when l was little girl. I love this story, but l always cry😢it is sad reality how we treat animals, as long as they work or give us what we need we keep them but when they are old we sell them or kill😢and we forget everything good that they did to us. ANIMALS ARE LIVING BEINGS WITH HEART AND SOUL. ANIMALS ARE NOT HERE FOR US THEY ARE HERE WITH US ❤

Me.i just love the olden days cartoon movies.just loved that era

I haven't seen this in years. It never fails to move me to tears when the boy has to sell his beloved pet. Been there! Still a great story. The film came out in 1978. (I was 11!) The voice of Joseph was done by Gordon Jump; the "big guy" on _WKRP in Cincinnati!_

It was also re-released in 1981 as a triple feature with “CINDERELLA” and “THE FOX AND THE HOUND”. My oldest son saw it during the re-release with my late mother. It needs a lot more airtime on tv during the holiday season as well as screen time in theatres, especially on the screens of the small town walk-ins with just one screen only.

The little boys movements are all like mowgli in the jungle book and christopher robin in wind in the willows. The animations have been repeated.

Great Caesar’s Ghost!

Really is a Don Bluth film. This is the film that drove Bluth away from Disney and made DIsney realize judges and court officials can be bought off.

This story has a very beautiful ending where Joseph comes and takes her to Mother Mary and after this we all know where the little one will go. Jesus love you.

Aww, my eyes were wet at the end of the money, I love it. I know may small and worth nothing to humans but I am important to God Almighty 😊 and my usefulness will come very soon 😊

I am, and so will my children. It brings back wonderful memories when they were young. ❤

Turner Classic Movies needs to show this every December 25TH 🎄 alongside of 1959’s “BEN-HUR” , 1961’s “KING OF KINGS”, and 1965’s “THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD”.

The late actor Gordon Jump of the classic sitcom “WKRP IN CINCINNATI” is the voice of Joseph.

The animators also errored when putting a beard on the Roman soldier at the city gate. Hygiene regulations of the army of Ancient Rome required that all its soldiers remain clean shaven facially and otherwise; meaning that even the pubic strands be scraped away as well.

But some years later, the city he took him to was destroyed by a Roman legion. Being that the farm he grew up on was up in the hills, he probably witnessed the city burning that night since it occurred 3 or 6 months after the Passover wherein Jesus stayed behind to visit the Rabbis in the temple.

So touching 😭😭😭

I DIDN'T LIKE THAT HE HAD TO SELL SMALL ONE, BECAUSE OF THE LOVE BETWEEN THEM. I THOUGHT THEY WERE GONNA GO BACK HOME AND HIS FATHER WOULD CHANGE HIS MIND. SO, EVEN THOUGH THE BUYER MAN SEEMED TO BE NICE, I DIDN'T LIKE THE END. AFTER ALL, THE DONKEY HAD TO CARRY ON MORE WEIGHT THAN HE WAS DOING BEFORE BECAUSE I'M SURE THAT WOMAN WAS HEAVIER THAN THOSE PIECES OF WOOD.
