Ойын-сауық

So a thing happened between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the Oscars last night. A thing which did the seemingly impossible - it made the Academy Awards relevant again.

    Here's my theory, fwiw: Will Smith is trapped in an unhappy, loveless marriage to an emotionally/verbally abusive woman who openly cheats on him, doesn't respect him, and emasculates him at every opportunity. He (Will Smith) genuinely thought Chris Rock's joke was funny. Until he realized Jada was pi**ed. She either said something to him or indicated her disapproval to him in the audience when the cameras weren't on them. Will Smith felt he had to try to validate his wounded masculinity to his wife so he walked up the stage and hauled off on Chris. When he shouted at Chris, that was genuine rage in his voice...only it wasn't directed at Chris. Will was only venting his frustration and anger at what a massive clusterf**k his life has become at Chris become he couldn't do it to the person who is actually the cause of it...who happened to be sitting right beside him. A classic case of misplaced aggression.

    You raise an interesting point, and if you are right, I think it will be fascinating to see what Will's next move will be, if he even does anything at all. On a certain level, I have sympathy for Will Smith, yet I also recognize that he has brought a lot of this on himself. I sincerely hope he can get out of this no matter what the cost may be. Even those who act and speak foolishly can have their eyes opened. The question is whether he will have the courage to act on it. Assuming his eyes have been opened, that is...

    Apparently, Jada gave WS a stern "Do you think this is funny? 🤨☹️" kind of a look, which prompted him to switch from laughter to get up from his chair, walk up to Chris and slap him. Allegedly, some people have reported that Jada was pleased when WS his Chris: she either giggled or smiled at that. Absolutely disgusting. All Chris did was tell a bland, tasteless joke, which WS reacted to like a well-trained puppy.

    Being compared to GI Jane is actually a comparison of strength, determination, courage, and the ability to do what is considered 'masculine' as a woman. Women can be beautiful with or without hair. Having hair would not define her. That was the essence of GI Jane. If the only thing we got from that movie was about that character's shaven head shows how shallow we can be

    @@Roonlovesfish3874 are you for real? How about a joke at someone else's expense? Like saying goodbye to a person who just lost both legs with "break a leg"? You cant joke with other people's unfortune unless you either know them well enough OR have a similar condition to play off of. But that requires the other people to understand you make fun of yourself in the same beat. One of my colleagues had lost most of his hair due to a "friend" and had to shave bald and wait for his hair to grow back. But because we knew each other and played jokes all the time it was OK for me to have our speaker system play a tongue-in-cheek song about going bald made by a specific music setting that features mostly bald people. And because we know each other and our limits we can laugh about it (and I knew he would have ample opportunity to get me back). But seeing that you have to ask, my bet is that you are one of those people who goes outside to laugh at people who slip when its slippery outside, and laugh harder if someone breaks an arm or a leg. If you dont even understand that some jokes arent even jokes, something is wrong with you.

    Let’s not forget the irony. Earlier in the show, one of the presenters made a heavy-handed joke about toxic masculinity, and the audience laughed along. But, then, a man literally assaults someone on live television, and the audience proudly cheers for him when he wins an award. And it completely contradicts the non-violence narrative that Hollywood pretends to support as well.

Will Smith had a very public mental breakdown in which he showed that when under stress he has the emotional maturity of a 3 year old child throwing a temper tantrum - he should seek professional psychiatric help for his problem. 2. Chris Rock kept his cool in showing great restraint and maturity in how he handled the whole sordid affair - in other words, he acted as a patient adult in dealing with Smith's childish temper tantrum. 2. Jada Smith is an unfaithful bitch who showed that she has extremely poor tastes by wearing that godawful ugly dress to the Academy Awards, and Will should have slapped her and not Chris for.... Hold on a sec. There's a knock at my door. Let me see who it is. Uh oh...it's Will! I think he's here to slap the s**t out of me!

    I talked to some dudes about it last night and they did some macho bullshit and went, “Oh Will Smith was right!! If anyone said anything about my wife or kids I’d totally beat their ass!” So, first off: Chris Rock didn’t say anything insulting Smith’s kids. Also, it wasn’t like Rock said, “Hey Jada’s got a great ass! I’d tap that!” The joke was relatively tame and could’ve been a lot worse. Part of being a grown-up is dealing with stuff that people say that you don’t like. This one idiot’s like: “I don’t take that politically correct bullshit! If you say something that upsets me, I’ll beat your ass!” Listen: If I physically attacked everyone who said something that upset me in my 20s or 30s I’d definitely be in either jail or a mental hospital right now and there’s no way they’d let me out in public. There were better ways to handle it. People are dumb.

    Will Smith is literally the King of the SImps. Imagine defending the woman who cheated on you so many times and showed almost no remorse for it, if any, when she told you about it. After seeing their interview about the "entanglement" thing, you can't convince me that they were in an open relationship, because Will was actually crying during it. I lost all respect for Will Smith.

  • @GBDupree

    @GBDupree

    2 жыл бұрын

    I actually have some respect for Will now. He knew what was happening was unjust, even if Jada deserves it, and it was affecting more just her but his children too. Chris took it too far and Will wasn't going to cowardly sit back and watch her take the emotional beating any longer (note that Chris had been doing pot shots like that to them all night, even off camera). I can't say for certain why he is still in that relationship, maybe it's for the kids, maybe he doesn't want to be another father who leaves the family, or he can't just pretend he doesn't love her even if she is so horrible to him so he hopes that she will eventually come back around. Who knows, it a terrible situation but maybe he thinks his love is more important, everyone is different. But at least I have the human decency to try to understand his situation and why he did what he did. Instead of claiming him to be a "garbage human" for sticking up to someone attacking his family all night, like this is Twitter.(not speaking about you specifically but some other comments are honestly childish) claiming his warning slap (likely no contact) was physical and therefore "VIOLENCE!" but what Chris did wasn't bad at all because he did it to another asshole, as well as their family by extension. Chris ain't no hero. Not all physical acts are violence, and sometimes some people need a reality check that they went too far and some people won't listen, it's not morally right, but reality doesn't care these situations happen and Chris should've known that this would happen. Doesn't matter if it's a circus, you don't poke the bear. Will Smith was sticking up for someone, while Chris was attacking someone. Will isn't a monster for doing that, he isn't a hero either (the situation isn't that black and white), but it's a lot more respectable than Chris. It's like people suddenly became a bunch of children who saw a slight slap and thought it was the most violent thing they ever saw and threw out all reason.
