It's difficult to find but her performance in JAPANESE STORY (2003) is even more outstanding because she is the lead character. This is a SLOW film so be patient. The last third is one of the most haunting 'what-if-this-happened-to-you?' films I've ever seen.

This movie was made 23 years ago, and still to this very day, has one of the best twist endings in the history of cinema. Even with all the many hints throughout, no one could have guessed the end. This is hands down one of M. Night Shyamalan's greatest movies.

It always fascinates me that people seeing it for the first time (including me) are so involved in the story that they don't notice that the mother who poisoned her daughter is dressed all in RED at her own daughter's funeral -- something that would stand out as INSANE in the "normal" world.

"It absolutely works both ways and shows the true brilliance of this film" Agreed 100%. I think the initial reactions when it was released were informed by the fact it was mostly billed as a thriller/horror film, which is fair, but nowadays audiences can look back with more objectivity to see the film for what it is instead of what the promotional material focuses on. And I think that more people are now realising that it was even better and more complex than we thought, because it's also a powerful character drama, both with Malcolm and his wife as well as with Cole and his mum. It deserves to be treated as one of the great films of cinema history, in my opinion!

It makes zero sense in reaction videos to ask the other person what is going on when that will spoil other parts of the movie. But when they started going on about their theory that Cole was actually the man who shot Malcolm at the beginning of the movie.....whew.....Ellie absolutely handled that perfectly (as she did the rest of the way)! That's the first time I've ever seen that theory pop up in a reaction (and there was writing on the screen which they must have missed that said this a year later or whatever time frame it was). "I see dead people" - and I can hear them too. It's not something I ever imagined I would ever be able to do. But sometimes "life" throws things at you where things 'turn on a dime' and suddenly you are thrust into another dimension of life experience. So, yes, even though I've enjoyed a wonderful life in general - lots of travel, working for great companies - I also have dipped my toe into the 'psychic' world. Where 'life' actually is quite beautiful. "Death" is really just a step into another room, that is also another dimension. A place we've all been to many times before, and will travel to again, and again. Where those we love await us. A place that will feel very comfortable to everyone, when we leave our body.

Great reaction. I like the setting of the ghost looking over the shoulder of Lia, very suiting for this movie. I also like how Ellie avoids spoiling anything for her friends. At some point, she is even biting het lips to stay quiet. One thing that surprises me is very common among multiple reactors, is the scene before Bruce Willies starts seeing the kid, there is a sign on the screen that says something like "5 years later" and so many reactors assume that is the guy from the beginning, and they are looking into the past. I assume they are still recovering from the shock of Bruce Willie's character being shot and concentrating on their own thoughts instead of watching what is happening in the movie. Great reaction from the four of you! (I'm including the ghost looking over Lia's shoulder, lol! 👻)

When I watched this movie for the first time, there was a time, two thirds into the movie, where it crossed my mind the realization that Malcolm didn't survived the shooting, but I soon discarded that thought.

The doctor in the hospital talking to the mom about possible abuse is the writer/director of this movie. His name is M. Night Shyamalan and another great movie is called, “Lady in the Water. It’s one of my favorites. He plays the author in that movie.

I had a job where it was for me to walk where ever I wanted to in a child's world. You have never felt the experience of having a child who plays with their own poop to keep adults away from them and ruins things inside the home purposely due to physical and sexual abuse of her past. That moment when they walk out of the line of their fellow kindergarteners to grab hold of your hand and walk with you instead of alone or when they really open up and tell you all that is on their mind... It is amazing. I remember the foster mother immediately taking both of her girls out of the school for a new placement based on what I had already told her of my observations and when I explained what one of the foster girls had said she had no doubt that both would be in a new school next week. I can remember a second one in a completely different setting who had all the same past except she hadn't played with her own poop to keep adults away from her. I had seen her in all environments, but when she saw me at her church (just happened to go to the same one) she ran straight to me to give me a hug. She must have thought I was like some sort of guardian angel when she saw me a this sixth location too. I'll never forget when I walked into her kindergarten classroom while they were taking naps on mats and she just looked at all her peers as if she knew I was there for her and her only. Later during a playtime she asked me why I was trying to make her do certain things and I stated, "Because I am trying to help you make friends." Immediately this other girl said, "I want to be her friend." At the next visit to her house her foster mother stated she had a sleep over set up with her friend in school when she admitted to her foster mother it was her very first friend.

In M Night shamaylan movies always look for a color out of place! The red doorknob, the balloon, the mom's red clothes and lipstick! All M Night Shamaylan movies should be watched! Specially Signs, The Village, one with Mark Wahlberg, then in order, Unbreakable, Split, Mr Glass! The mom in sixth sense is same mom in ultimate horror movie, hereditary!😮😮😮

This movie always freaked me out. When I was a kid we lived in Hawaii. We were in a small town on Oahu called Temple Valley. We lived in the townhouses next to a cemetery called Valley Of The Temples. You can google the area and see the cemetery. Its actually pretty cool looking. You'll also probably see fruit on graves. Hawaiians believe you will anger the spirits if you dont leave food. Anyway, there were some VERY scary and disturbing things that happened in those townhouses. Hawaii is beautiful but there is some weird shit there. I was scarred for life! (lol)
